He does "Over The Rainbow" and it features tons of harmonics. Unreal and gorgeous. His "Initiations" is incredibly creative, and you will not believe the sounds he creates with just a guitar. I've seen him five times in concert and each one is an event like no other. Genius, no one like him.
Tommy is fantastic. I saw him in Västerås Sweden live for over 10 years ago. He is masterclass and beyond. And he is a funny guy aswell...Thank you for this great video with Tommy. Cheers from a finn in Sweden.❤❤❤
I saw Tommy live last year. It was an amazing display of guitar skill, musicianship, and storytelling. For almost 2 hours it was just Tommy and his guitar, playing and telling stories. There is a lot of variety in his music, not all fireworks. "Classical Gas" is commonly and encore. Not an ounce of pretension is his body, just a great guy having a blast playing music. He always picks an up and coming guitarist to tour with him, and is loves to showcase other players. He's now based in Nashville, so he tours through my neck of the woods every couple years. See him, you will have a good time.
Aussie here 🇦🇺 I've been able to see Tommy 7 times live.. Each time better than the last. He has some great live videos, including 'Somewhere over the Rainbow', Blue Moon, and his incredible Beatles medley. Hope you can react to more Tommy. ❤️
An Aussie icon .... the guitarists guitarist. The little piece you were trying to recognize was "Saturday Nights Alright for Fighting" by Elton John. Tommy loves to drop little tidbits into his performances. At one time, as a bit of a gimmick, he used to play 2 different (basic) songs at once by playing the notes alternately. He and his brother Phil (RIP) had a band that was legendary in Australia - both equally talented, and yes, they could both shred on an electric guitar. Cheers from Oz.
There's videos of Tommy playing electric over the decades & his brothers are amazing too. He played electric with Josh Smith & Joe Bonamassa also. He's one of the GOAT's for sure !
Hi, and thank you so much for featuring my fellow Tommy here lol..seriously though, this man is one of the best on the planet and I love how you've gone in, per your uncle's recommendation! Sweet 🎶🧡
Greatly appreciated your astute observations that very few other reactors pick up on starting with Tommy’s “effortless” harmonics! Indeed, if people only knew the kind of light and balanced touch it takes to make a harmonic at all on a string they’d react exactly as you did (and as I did the first time I heard him play this). You also picked up on the 4-fret stretch he makes in his left hand with his left forefinger and pinky making that huge span. Yes, he does have large hands but he has played so long his tendons and muscles in his left hand have stretched over the years. You also heard the two song fragments he inserted, Somewhere Over The Rainbow” and I’m not sure about the other one but I hear other commenters say “Saturday”? You are also one of the few commenters to correctly describe how Tommy bends the neck of his guitar to bend all the notes down at the same time (reducing tension on the strings lowers the pitch). So, you are one of the very few reactors who picked up on all the same things I did so it made me really appreciate your reactions, thank you :).
During the break in the middle he goes into a little bit of "Walk Don't Run" by Chet Atkins and later the Ventures. Then he segues into "Saturday Night's alright for Fighting" by Elton John
Gloria maybe-Saturday for sure!. Happened to walk past a venue in Sydney where he was playing and about to start. Went to buy a last- minute ticket........"sorry sir" etc... Tommy appeared next to the ticket seller and got me in amongst his family seating!. I got to witness an absolute master-class of guitar, personality, humour, personality, and entertainment with the bonus of witnessing his family react and express. A true blue Aussie legend and all around good bloke!. One of the all-time best to ever pick-up a guitar!. Thanks "Tony Enamel"!.👍 Zebedee from Oz. 👌
I used to live in Visalia CA until 2017. Visalia is on the way to Sequoia Natl. Park. 8-9 miles out of town used to be an awesome old wooden bar and restaurant called Orange Blossom Junction. The owner had connections to the music industry and his goal was to have the 50 greatest guitarists play at his place. My work load was so intense in those days I'd start my day around 3:30 to 4 am everyday. Only good thing about was, the owner of the OBJ would post his upcoming shows at midnight as he left. That made me the 1st to see upcoming show and order front row center tickets to shows I wanted to see. The OBJ could seat 230 or 180 depending on the size of the required stage. I got to see Tommy Emmanuel twice from about 10 -12 feet away. Watchin'' that guy that close was a treat I'll never forget. He's such a personal guy. He'd take questions from the crowd and explain the inspiration for alot of his songs. Just an easy guy to talk to, no ego, no big head, just a guy and his guitar. I have upmost respect and appreciation for his talent and who he is. If he ever comes anywhere near you, do anything you can to see him. He is simply the best. If you want to blow your and your uncles minds watch this song called "Initiation" from "Center Stage". It's a tribal tribute to young Aborigines seeking manhood in the outback alone. There are no words to describe this - - - -
somebody asked how he was so good at his playing so prolifically .. Tommy smiled and said even on days that he is touring to different shows he will always practice hard for 6 to 8 hours al day everyday .. go figure practice makes perfect
In the middle he played a little part of Elton John's "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting" ... 😄 Simply perhaps the greatest guitarist of all time (although of course it's always a matter of opinion ...).
Yeh he's a long time friend of a mate of mine, who's a singer and I've seen plenty of his shows and had a few nights out with them. He's such a nice humble guy and regarded as one of the top acoustic guitarists in the world. And yes he also plays electric guitar in the same way. You have to watch him do "Initiation" on the electric guitar. He does things that no one else can do. It's about Indigenous Australian Ceremony for young boys to be initiated to men. Love your reactions. Ps he's an Aussie like me.
This is actually a medley of Mason Williams' Classical Gas, The Ventures Walk Don't Run and Elton John's Saturday Night. If harmonics turn you on please find his version of Over the Rainbow and make sure you're sitting down. Also, find the You Tube video of his LIVE performance in 2006 of "A 12 Bar Blues in the Key of E" to see some SERIOUS acoustic shredding.
Tommy does an amazing duet with Billy Strings, of Guitar Boogie. I know that you’re a big fan of Billy so maybe that’s one for the future? Thanks for reacting to Tommy on your channel. A grossly underrated guitarist
Been in awe of Tommy most of my life, and I was born in the '70's. He's hands down one the best, if not the best to ever pick up a guitar, and he just keeps getting noticeably better and better. "In 1999, Atkins named Emmanuel a Certified Guitar Player, honoring him as among the world's greatest fingerstyle guitarists. Only four musicians were so awarded by Atkins." " "He is, without a doubt, one of the greatest guitarists on the planet,'' Atkins wrote about Emmanuel." " Tommy is sensational, and if you get the chance to see him live, don't miss out. It was earlier in the '90's, and at the time before UA-cam and the internet I'd never seen anything like it. Blew me away.
I think you would love Steve Wariners voice and he is fantastic at guitar♥️ #redheadedneighbor #redsarmy #beautifulfuncountygirl #bestreactor #bestbadjokes #heartofgoldwithmetalinhersoul
Incredible guitarist AND an Aussie. He was also a member of a band called the “Fargone Beauties”. It needs to be said slowly in an Aussie accent to get the joke 😉. They did a cover of Wild Thing. I watched a video of a Swedish guitarist Gabriella Quevedo, and Tommy doing this hit. Gabriella held her own with Tommy, almost pick by pick, bend by bend. Well you get the idea. You might want to check out her channel on the tube.
That was excellent! I do know him, I thought the name was familiar. I saw him on a video on here with an English guy and who and what song is now bugging me because it was great. That was Saturday night's alright for fighting by Elton John that he went into.

Probs late to the party but 'Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting' Elton John And he does a whole version of Over the Rainbow that's pretty damn sweet
Tommy is absolutely amazing, one of the great masters (and yes, he does great on electric as well as acoustic)! Missed him the last time he came through town, but I plan to see him at some point. Try his full take on Somewhere Over the Rainbow, or his recent duet with Mike Dawes (who is another amazing guitarist): ua-cam.com/video/2bx9vTF8x2s/v-deo.html If you want more great acoustic stuff, we can look at Paco de Lucia for some Flamenco, or Roy Clark. :)
the real down to me is Elton John’s “Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting”. If you want to hear mind blowing harmonics, check Tommy doing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”. For my money he is the best to ever strap a guitar over his shoulder.

Tommy does also play electric guitar and he has also been a band drummer in his career which explains his incredible feel for rhythm. If you get a chance to review another video look up his version of over the rainbow with Les Paul. Ther other covers in this version of Classical Gas are Walk Don't Run by the Ventures and Saturday by Elton John.
TE is cinsidered by many of the great guitarist as the pinnacle guitarist. Go back to 5:58 where you say "What song is that?"and watch his thumb lock into the B note and watch the rest of his left hand move. He plays as if it is effortless and yet it clearly is not. I have seen TE live twice and met him and he's a genuine nice person. Approachable and freely admits he has never taken the time to learn to read sheet music. I guess at this point, it really isn't needed. Occasionally he'll 0lay electric guitar during a jamb session and some of his acoustic guitars are marked up because he use all parts of the guitar to make percussion sounds.
Why not have a listen to "First Movement (Jumping Biz)" by the Electric Light Orchestra, I'm sure that Roy Wood was inspired by "Classical Gas" when he wrote it?
This is exactly why, when people say that someone like Ren is a genius on the guitar, I just quietly chuckle to myself, "REALLY, you think so??". He's good, but nowhere close to being in the same league as people like Tommy, Mike Dawes, or so many others.
One of the better acoustic players is a female Called Nancy Wilson, i digress you can see some videos of Tommy with his older brother Phil where they both play the same axe at once
I think, maybe, he's practiced a little bit? Just saying... When you've worn the finish off your guitar, you've put some time in. And that's just one of them!
He is ratei in the top ten to twenty guitarists in the world he also writes music . I've seen his brother live technically he is as good as Tommy only he doesn't write music Tommy also plays every genre of music and type of guitar and just about all the best guitarists in the world
He does "Over The Rainbow" and it features tons of harmonics. Unreal and gorgeous. His "Initiations" is incredibly creative, and you will not believe the sounds he creates with just a guitar. I've seen him five times in concert and each one is an event like no other. Genius, no one like him.
Thanks for appreciating Tommy, the greatest for decades now. Both on guitar and at humour.
Tommy is fantastic. I saw him in Västerås Sweden live for over 10 years ago. He is masterclass and beyond. And he is a funny guy aswell...Thank you for this great video with Tommy. Cheers from a finn in Sweden.❤❤❤

I've had the pleasure of seeing Tommy twice, and it was just exhausting to watch, haha. He's so, so ridiculous.
I've seen Tommy at the ABMA festival in Raleigh with Grammy winner Molly Tuttle. Tommy IMO is the best acoustic player on the planet.
Tommy and his late brother Phil RIP. Both fantastic players. Guitar boogie would be my favorite.
Very smooth. Very nice. Thanks Red, for bringing this one to our attention.
There's videos of Tommy playing electric over the decades & his brothers are amazing too. He played electric with Josh Smith & Joe Bonamassa also. He's one of the GOAT's for sure !
Thank you so much for reacting to Australia's best guitarist (in my humble opinion !!!!) Absolute FIRE!!! Great Job!!! ✌✌✌ 🇦🇺 🔥🔥🔥

A man of focus, of commitment, of sheer will.... The John Wick of the acoustic guitar! (With that straight faced Aussie sense of humor).
👍GLORIA....was the song you were looking for !...HI from Australia !🦘🇦🇺🌹
He is totally self taught, and an honest living legend and a great guy too boot!
All the greates ot the greats agreed that Tommy is the best to ever do it.
Hey there, glad you enjoyed that, he also does a piece called “initiation “. You will see why his guitar is so worn n torn! G’day from Oz

He does "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" that is phenominal. You hear the words through the guitar.
Also there are videos of him and his late brother playing together that will blow you away

I would rate Tommy as one of the best guitarists ever.............overlooked by many people
My favorite guitar player. Awesome.
Drops into 'Saturday'
Tommy is SO good his guitar needs to practise.
The "extra segment of another song" he was playing was "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting" by Elton John.
Incredible guitarist AND an Aussie. He was also a member of a band called the “Fargone Beauties”. It needs to be said slowly in an Aussie accent to get the joke 😉. They did a cover of Wild Thing.
He and his brother Phil are both exceptional musicians. Tommy dropped out of school to tour at age 11.
Love watching guitarists but i prefer to watch their finger work more closely. So much of his is muscle memory. Incredible.
💕
The song you hear is Saturday night, Elton John. Also in there is a piece called “ Walk, don’t run”
I'm pretty sure that part was 'Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting' by Elton John 😀
Tommy had actually also played electric guitar, many many moons ago (70's), when he was a member of John(ny) Farnham's band, if I remember correctly 🙂
My own first impression of him had been a live performance of an acoustic piece aptly titled 'The Hunt' and in the mid-90's, when his hair was still dark, too; That performance, including a very entertaining 'percussion' intro blew me away! 🤯
_This_ performance is even a few notches _up_ by comparison! 🤯🤯🤯 😅
By the way, Neighbor, you seem to know at least _some_ stuff about guitars; Do you play, too? 😀

That was excellent! I do know him, I thought the name was familiar. I saw him on a video on here with an English guy and who and what song is now bugging me because it was great. That was Saturday night's alright for fighting by Elton John that he went into.
I absolutely love the original but Tommy’s rendition is AMAZING!
The other tunes he was picking on that are basically in the same key were "Walk Don't Run" by the Ventures and "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting" by Elton John. Another great acoustic player is Adrian Legg. The guy bends solo notes within the chords he's strumming. His album Guitars And Other Cathedrals is amazing, And you might look up Jerry Reed playing "Lightning Rod" live
Michael Hedges was another great acoustic player. Worth checking out.
Sounded like a nod to Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting By Elton John. Tommy is a master. If you would like something completely different that also shows true virtuosos at work, check out any version of Dream Theater "The Dance Of Eternity" LIVE.
Chet Atkins played tihs song way back an the two knows eachother , btw. I am a Chet & Tommy fan. Seen him live in Groningen (Netherlands)
As Tommy will remind you, he's the only surviving Chet Atkins certified guitarist. :)
He is also Chet Atkins certified !
You really need to listen to the original by Mason Williams it has orchestra playing with him, I believe this done originally for the Smothers Brothers TV show 😅
The really thing about Tommy is how encouraging he is to other players. It’s very common for him to visit with young players and he has even asked them to join him on stage. He seems to be a great player and human
One of the tunes Tommy fits in there is 'Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting - Elton John' 😁
" Walk Don't Run " by The Ventures ( 1960 ) was the other song ! ( my first 45 )
The magic of fingerstyle is that one person can play all the parts of the piece simultaneously … unlike shredders. Check out more of Tommy, but also Mike Dawes, Phil Kraft, and, if you like 12-string, Leo Kottke. These guys are the best of the best.
The two other songs are:
"Walk Don't Run" 'The Ventures' (instumental)
and "Saturday Night's Alright" Elton John.
Thanks Red ❤❤❤
🎶Gloria, gloria!🎶
🔥🔥🔥
My favorite neighborhood.
Clean up the blood later. 😂😂Tommy Emmanuel is the master.
To me, the other song passage was Elton John Saturday Nights Alright for Fighting, I think the title is, from Yellow Brick Road album, however do not know for sure.

Hello my dear redheaded friend, I hope life is treating you well!, please check out Chrissie Lenee (not 100% sure that's right) and Tommy Emanuels "Cleopatra's eye".O.M.G accoustic guitar at its best ❤God Bless 💕
I think you would like the original, with all of the accompanying orchestration.
There's also a UA-camr called Gabriella who has performed this with the original composer, and they do a great job together as well.
Enjoy your reactions.
Wow you are beauty 😍
Probs late to the party but 'Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting' Elton John
And he does a whole version of Over the Rainbow that's pretty damn sweet
You gotta check out his Beatles medley. God bless gorgeous.
I think the other segment was "Saturday"....
@7:16 The irony that the instant you reacted that way, there was an ad for toilet paper.
Tommy is absolutely amazing, one of the great masters (and yes, he does great on electric as well as acoustic)! Missed him the last time he came through town, but I plan to see him at some point. the real down to me is Elton John’s “Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting”. If you want to hear mind blowing harmonics, check Tommy doing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”. For my money he is the best to ever strap a guitar over his shoulder.
If you want to hear him make a guitar, make sounds you won't think is possible listen to the song "Initiation"
😍
You also have to listen to his versions of Somewhere over the rainbow and the Beatles song Lady Madonna
Check out his version of Guitar Boogie or his original Lewis and Clark.
Can you do some Roy Clark someday ?? #redheadedneighbor #bestreactor #redsarmy #beautifulfuncountrygirl #29K #heartofgoldwithmetalinhersoul #bestbadjokes
Tommy does also play electric guitar and he has also been a band drummer in his career which explains his incredible feel for rhythm. Mason Williams is still the best
Check out Tommy with Billy Strings, you'll love it ! 😉
Check out Chris Smither some time, folk ,piedmont blues.
“Saturday” Chicago
The other song was Elton John's Saturday nights alright .
If you get a chance to review another video look up his version of over the rainbow with Les Paul. Ther other covers in this version of Classical Gas are Walk Don't Run by the Ventures and Saturday by Elton John.
React to his cover of somewhere over the rainbow. ❤
Dunno if it's been answered but that other song in there is Elton John 's Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting
6: 15 Tosses Elton John, Saturday, in just for fun.
Valeria is the song
Saturday Saturday Elton and Lady Madonna The Beatles...
Check out Roy Clark. A superb flat picker.
🔥
Why not have a listen to "First Movement (Jumping Biz)" by the Electric Light Orchestra, I'm sure that Roy Wood was inspired by "Classical Gas" when he wrote it?
His brother phil (RIP) was just as good. Here they are playing together in 1986 in a pub: Sultans of Swing: ua-cam.com/video/d7bRgssHerI/v-deo.html
Love your reactions. He is a legend. The song in the middle was Saturday Night's Alright by Elton John (ua-cam.com/video/93JvHkdYNNw/v-deo.html. )
I think, maybe, he's practiced a little bit? Just saying...
When you've worn the finish off your guitar, you've put some time in. And that's just one of them!
Love that
Well, with a little talent and about five decades of practice, you, too, can play like that...
He is ratei in the top ten to twenty guitarists in the world he also writes music . I've seen his brother live technically he is as good as Tommy only he doesn't write music Tommy also plays every genre of music and type of guitar and just about all the best guitarists in the world
Kind of trying to do tooooo much here methinks
