Hi, did you use this subfloor for your basement? Just want to get your feedback since I am planning to use it for my basement in Winnipeg, where the temperature can get very cold during winter.
I did but this style of subfloor doesn't have a lot of insulation. If it's an area you're going to be using a lot, you probably will want to go for something thicker with a higher R-value
This is just a floating floor, correct? There's no way the floor is affixed to what's underneath? Have you had any issues with the laminate shifting or separating from adjacent boards?
I'm using the same brand of laminate and dmx1step, but my laminate had pre-attached 2mm thick underlayment. I'm not sure if I should scrap that 2mm underlayment off
6:46 One of the pieces next to the partition is too short. The first piece at the other end of the row should have been shortened so that this piece would be longer.
You don't want direct contact between your flooring and the cement. Cement is moisture retaining so it can cause damage and potentially mold on your flooring (if your flooring isn't moisture resistant. The sub floor prevent that contact as well as acting as a vapor barrier which also prevents moisture accumulation.
I have done everything DMX told me to do, and still have terrible humidity problems under this floor. It should be considered insulation ONLY. If you even suspect you might maybe possibly have the tiniest bit of water getting in, this is not for you. I had a professional basement water proofing company come look, and he told me he cannot think of a single instance someone should use this product. Tile in a basement is the only way to go.
Finally after 1000 videos a video that actually SHOWS how to lay down !! Idk why but my issue is how to lay it out. Maybe it’s just me
You're the man. This seems like the cheapest option to redo my basement bedroom that has some mold/moisture damage.
Good! I am going to use this underlayment in my basement
Just FYI, the latest DMX 1 Step instructions specify a minimum flooring thickness of 5mm.
Looks good. Easy enough to do.
Thanks 😎
Installation was quite straightforward. Thanks for watching!

Damn, at first I was like… Bruce?? (Bruce Willis)
Yippee ki yay... 😜
How are you liking the DMX now? Any squishiness or creaking?
Still fine. No issues at all!
@@Handyversehow about now? any Drooping
Looks great! Almost four years on, any issues? Would you recommend this stuff? Just looking into different subfloor options for my basement.
We moved a couple of years ago but no issues before we left the house. I'd use it again if I was doing another floor
@@Handyverse Thank you!

Looks amazing!
Thanks Mark! Its great to be back at this long overdue project.
Anyone; I'm looking for onfo on basement floors how necessary is it to seal the floor? Built in 1954
How's it holding? Any buckling?
Can you put moldings?

But whats the purpose for underlayment?

You lay the DMX opposite the way you lay your laminate.
Thats what I thought i heard as well.
bruce willis doing diy now..!!
Yippee ki yay!
Why do I see so much sponginess in the fast-motion portion near the end of the video... i can see the planks bouncing
What is about squeaking?
Laminate in laundry room/bathroom is a terrible idea...
What is better on concrete in a basement?
@@cejanuary9378 tiles or vinyl, basically floorings that are waterproof since basements are pretty moist
That's my thought too, laundry rooms could get washer leaks etc.
