Pats and Gino's are tourist traps. If you want hella good cheesesteaks, you're better off going to smaller joints around the city. I personally like Jim's, but you'll get a lot of different answers depending on who you ask.

I lived in Philly for a few years and tried all the toppings permutations (still think Cheese Wiz sucks) but honestly didn't find ketchup and/or mayo that bad on my steaks

OMG I just went there last week with my classmates for a school field trip! We had it for lunch and everybody got 10$ each. I went to pats and it wasn't that good but the onions were soft which I like. Geno's had onions that were raw. It wasn't the best but not terrible. It was a little expensive.
Yo why don't people just go to corner store they way better than pats and genos and just get salt pepper ketchup mayo fried onions pickles and mustard with american cheese. That what I get all the time and I live in north philly
