The east blue saga/arcs is the weakest of all one piece arcs.
If Netflix plays their cards right i think they have something special on their hands and the potential to make television history.
Im looking forward to whats next. Maybe I'll give the Anime a watch now haha

Ussop is the weakest plot line for a reason and it will go deeper in season 4. Trust in One Piece.
I respect One Piece fans a lot. Y’all are a hardcore fan base. But you also need to understand how funny it is to hear someone say way 4 seasons for the pay off😆

OP just like any other work of fictions some people like it from the very beginning and some might like it quite into the series or some might even only liking it hundreds of chapters or episodes.
the meme exist due to the Arlong Park arc in the manga/anime which is episode 7 and 8 of the live action.
Arlong Park arc is where many readers/viewers fall in love in OP .
AP arc is where Oda truly show what he is capable of and it become the template for the future arc in term of quality.
but off course its not the case for the everyone.
some fall in love during Baratie arc. some Buggy arc where its story very much different then the live action.
we did saw the mayor and the dog in the live action. very beloved dog in the fanbase.
and some fall in love or able to see how talented the writer, Oda was since the 1st chapter or the prototype of OP itself.. some of those people even fought so hard and it took a while for OP for to get serialized in WSJ magazine even thought the legendary Editor in CHief of Shueisha Weekly SHonen Jump at that time didnt like OP and didnt want to serialized it.
OP has 2 prototype called ROmance Dawn v1 and Romance Dawn v2.
the 1st chapter of OP manga and the 1st episode of the live action is called Romance Dawn.
OP, it is a very long series. its not that bizarre for people to start somewhere along the line or it might take for a while for fans truly becoming a fans after starting it.
this is pretty much the origin of the meme in the fanbase.
for Ussop. the live action did him dirty.
he is done nothing in his own arc, episode 3 and 4.
then one of the best moment in the East Blue Saga, in the Arlong Park Arc (episode 8th of the LA) during his fight against Chuu, one of Arlong top officer, not only it was cut short but also lost its meaningful and important growth moment for Ussop.
Sadly, COby who was not even important in the manga's East Blue Saga got far better treatment in the live action.
its good for them to develop COby and Helmeppo more in the LA, the same with Garp but it should not be at the expenses of Ussop, one of the main character in the series.
Ussop, in the crew is also a proxy for us because he is the most human, coward and the weakest.
in the battle shonen manga/anime, that kind of thing, usually dislike or viewed negatively by the fans or readers/viewers.
and Ussop will always be the weakest and less brave among the crew until the series end.
his great qualities didnt came from a typical strong, charismatic brave character but by his human heart and determinations.
and naturally, this kind of thing didnt came over night.
and Oda the writer understand this. so he develop it slowly and overtime. instead in your face kind of development.
some might appreciate it, some might not.
