This is the first time I’ve listened to Ari and not hated him.
Tucker was great.
Ari has always been good, it’s what Joe sees. It’s the self-destructive side of him that turns everyone off.
Lol, I have a love-hate relationship with Ari. I love the dude, but he's so goofy at times, then he talks, and I like him again.

He forgot to mention Shane Gillis and Mark Normand. Those are facts tho. While not being a great comedian, Rogan has 100000% reignited the stand-up scene. Not just because he has up and comers on his show, but because he speaks about comedy with such passion and respect that it is infectious. He really treats it like a fine art.

Been watching Rogan and Ari for years. After this i finally understand why Ari is so passionate about supporting good comedians that aren't well known. He's paying it forward, respect.

He is. I'm not quite partial to his style, but he can really work with anyone on the podcast
His best “interviews” are the ones where he talks less and lets the interesting person talk.

Joe has made his fortune, he can do Whatever He Wants.
He has always done and said whatever he wants. That’s how he built a cult fan base. He was never PC. He never catered toward the masses. That’s why his conversations are always so authentic and genuine. Watch his old videos when he was in his bedroom with podcast equipment, even back then he did not give a fuck.
The more you learn about Rogan the more you respect him. Very nice when that is the case

I really like listening to comics when they are just talking and not necessarily trying to be funny. To be funny you have to pay attention, makes for some interesting observations.
Tucker is a great interviewer bcuz he actually lets them talk. Stern should take notes

We are in a comedy renaissance, it's really amazing to witness if you're a comedy fan. We depressed peasants indulge in it like therapy. I often listen to "Protect Our Parks" in the car driving an hour to work then another hour home after a 12 hr shift. It keeps me smiling when I walk into work and home. To any of you weird comics I listen to, whom checks comments lol thanks for real
These Rogan stories remind me of Julius Caesar as he was coming up. Going into significant debt to make people happy and love him and it paid off a million times over again. I’m not at all saying they had the same motives or that Rogan was in debt. It is just crazy that in both cases doing things for others was remembered and rewarded from clients as favors or just by the universe blessing you. I love Rogan’s podcast and hope I can visit his comedy club. Very cool stories here.

Man, I like Ari --even MORE after watching this and listening to him talk...SOBER. Just a totally GENUINE guy. (He is always so damn stoned on the Protect Our Parks episodes. His stoned laugh is hilarious, but he never is able to actually speak much.)

Joe Rogan did the same with Jiu-jitsu and MMA... I have start jiu-jitsu in 2012, I stopped it after couple months, and them after became a regular in JRE experience and see Joe talks about Jiu-jitsu It made want to come back... and since them I never stopped again...
He is so blunt. Love it, but Joey got some real shade.

Nick Dipoalo said in 2014 that going on Rogan was bigger than going on Conan or Jimmy Fallon.
I wonder sometimes was he spun out in his early days watching them on TV. Never realising he would be as big if not bigger than them.

Television was a one-off in those days. If people missed your guest spot, they just missed it. It's different now, of course, but Joe probably gets more views than Colbert and the Jimmys combined.
Comedy never needed saving. Comedy is fine. It’s the establishment that’s ruining everything.

Tucker is great at what he does. I like him. What bothers me are people who glaze all over him like he's some kind of a second cumming. His txts revealed in Fox lawsuit discovery really showed his 'twofacedness'. People just love to idolize celebrities and forget their missteps... He has an agenda and he went all 'Im now independent new media, establishment media sucks' etc. I love his content, but I come at it with critical approach and with awareness regarding his past.
No one is worried about Ari becoming too successful lol

Idk if he "saved comedy". He promoted some of the biggest unfunny comedians like Brendan Schaub and Bert to a level that is now insufferable
He printed Shaub on fight talk, which I still think is intolerable, or nearly intolerable…but never did he as a comedian
Like Joe says, when you have the "FU" money, you can whatever you want. What's key is to realize when you reach that point of FU money and then do your thing rather than what others want/expect you to do. It's a superpower
I never understood what that meant UNTIL I was in my teens. My father was VERY successful in the computer industry and had FU money. I saw how he treated people and how everyone around him were whores. I don't have a dime to my name and am way happier than he could ever be !
Joe Rogan’s genuine honesty and selflessness is his greatest strength and the reason he is so successful.

It’s funny how people don’t like Rogan comedy but without him being a comedian he would use that to project him to be in tv shows which eventually pivot him to do a podcast.

Joe Rogan honestly isn’t a good comedian. That being said, what he has accomplished with his podcast is extraordinary and his commentary when it comes to martial arts is top notch.
I agree actually. He UNDERSTANDS comedy really well, he's just not that great on it. But where he is great is in his podcast. I feel the same way about Joey Diaz actually, on stage he sucks, I'm just being honest, but in conversation he SLAYS.

Mmm… I’m a fan of his comedy… ultimately he isn’t releasing clips like all the new comics hence why people may not be familiar with how funny he is, and he doesn’t flood the market with special after special but when he does I think they’re good. The attraction to his podcast in the beginning was the looseness and the humour these days it’s become more polished… still great but very different… more of a media figure now

Joe Rogan is popular bc of his podcast. He has people on his show from taboo areas and talks with them and ask them questions most people wanna know. It’s 2-3 hours and not 5 minutes like conventional media. He found a niche that anyone can do hence all the successful podcasts available. Has nothing to do with comedy

I’d argue that Rogan is going through the ‘inconvenient elder / elder statesman’ stage. But these guys are old enough to still see it as cutting edge.
It WAS cutting edge (in, like, a casual, understated way) but that peak has been and gone.
Now it’s just a dusty institution. That’s how quickly things go through the cycle of thrive and decline now.

I've said it before, I enjoy watching you more here then at your former employer. I mean I literally had you on for background noise mostly. Nothing personal. Now I think I know why I'll sit down to watch a TCN video, where I almost never had before the switch. They were not allowing your full potential as a journalist, plus what you got to report was what they wanted you to report. Really like the New!👍🏼
