Tough call with Rugby style punters. Because they actually become runners once they start running to the side before they punt it. I think if a punter chooses to run before they kick it, then they are no longer protected as a punter, but instead treated like anyone else that runs the ball. If they kick it straight away, then they should be protected. But not if they become a runner.
I agree. He basically leads with his hands. If the receiver had caught the ball he would have had to make that hit for a tackle. The receiver went low causing the head contact, but definitely wasn't intentional. This is where they need to clean up the targeting rule and start looking at common sense and physics. The defender could not pull off that and honestly didnt hit as hard as he could have.

It was definitely against the rules, but i don't believe the Notre Dame player was trying to injure the QB, especially because he hit him right as he was releasing the ball, he just made contact to the QBs head. By rule its a penalty, but i don't think its a cheap or dirty hit as i don't think there was intent to injure, so i agree with you.

Razorback fan here, and that hit by Wade was fucked up. Dude was nothing but a criminal when he went to Arkansas, stealing computers and shoes from dorms, getting into fights on Main Street in Fayetteville, dwi, fighting cops. Tough call with Rugby style punters. Because they actually become runners once they start running to the side before they punt it. I think if a punter chooses to run before they kick it, then they are no longer protected as a punter, but instead treated like anyone else that runs the ball. If they kick it straight away, then they should be protected. But not if they become a runner.

I agree. He basically leads with his hands. If the receiver had caught the ball he would have had to make that hit for a tackle. The receiver went low causing the head contact, but definitely wasn't intentional. This is where they need to clean up the targeting rule and start looking at common sense and physics. The defender could not pull off that and honestly didnt hit as hard as he could have.
It was a dirty hit. The receiver had no chance of catching the ball before he got hit and was already being tackled by the other defender. The defender lead with his shoulder and hit him in the head I think it was a good call
