Absolutely. Mounting a motor on the sternpost of a canoe is ridiculous - even ones with tat fake transom. Get a purpose built cross mount for hanging it off the side so you can control it without twisting yourself around. We did this stupid crap when we were kids. Adults should think outside the box.
well no one noticed he didnt turn the motor around on the shaft? hes got it backwards right now lol im sure hes figured that out by now....the his prop is, foward is reverse and vice versa
I mean it's not that it didn't cross many peoples minds. I enjoy having the motor handle closer up so I don't twist my body beyond comfort.
They got different extenders for trolling motors
I use a tiller extension
@@jamesrussler6189 you can do that too. Im fine with the other way for myself but the work you did is nice too. Definitely more streamline.
Tried both and motor much better on the side.
Please make a video of you running it
Think outside what box?😅
Well I know from my front mounted trolling motor on my V hull it wouldn't maintain direction and was hard to steer until I put it in the middle
I was searching for it thankyou
I ran mine on the back and the contortion necessary isn't worth it.
I just prefer to not sit that way in my canoe, I can reach the troller perfect on the side
Make a video of it running please
More comfy on the side

Hard to reach I'm guessing
and what is the net benefit of this? faster?
I thought about this but on my 19 ft,it’s a ways back. Maybe mount it straight and steer with a paddle. Keep thinking on it.
I use a tiller extension
I am sure this is actually inside the box thinking. mounting on the side is actually outside the box.
Yes make video pls would like to see clearance when you turn it around
You’ll snap that board soon enough. Too much torque from that motor.
How about on the side??
Maybe you shouldn’t think at all and just leave the motor in the box so someone with some sense can put it on for you !
Where's the video of it working and you operating it comfortably? Asking because I want to do the same thanks for the content
Paint chips eats lots this one does
well no one noticed he didnt turn the motor around on the shaft? hes got it backwards right now lol im sure hes figured that out by now....the his prop is, foward is reverse and vice versa
No your wrong , you need to climb in the box and hush because you don’t know what in the hell you’re talking about
How did you make it
Looks like a iffy setup to these eyes.
Works fine. A little uncomfortable but I'm 67 and can't row. So it works for me. Been doing it for 3 years now same setup
How did you make it? Please share details. I’m looking to do the same.
It's a steel L bracket covered with pine board.
How did this work thinking of doing this
❤❤
Your box is small
IT WONT WORK IT WILL NOT. STEER CORRECTLY. SOMETIMES YOU. JUST GOTTA. STOP TALKING. AND. PUT IT IN THE WATER MAN.
It works excellent.
Video to come when weather warms up. It works great Karen.
@@jamesrussler6189still no vid :)
This really isnt possible with a high stem canoe
