Would this be the same for the GHD Platinum+ that seems to share the same plate assembly? I replaced both elements along with their associated temp sensors and thermal fuses as a pair of complete replacement units from Sirius. Previously, my wife dropped her unit when hot, and this took out both thermal fuses. I wasn't aware that calibration data for the temp sensors was stored in the flash. If so, I guess that I need to measure the plate temperature and check that it is not too far from 180 deg C. Cheers, thanks for the great video - Mike from Higham.

      Hi
The elements are exactly the same on the Platinum+ as is the control of the elements. But the Platinum+ doesn't have the same issue with the PCB. I would check the temperature asap.

@@Trevs-Shed I bought a Proster thermocouple reader on Amazon (24 hr delivery) that looks very similar to yours and measured both plates simultaneously with the corner of a silicone heat mat sandwiched between the plates and the thermocouple beads. Initial measurements were about 190 deg C, but after allowing perhaps 5 minutes to stabilise, I could read as high as 195 & 198 deg C on each of the plates. So, hotter than intended and hotter than I would like, but probably not a total disaster, especially as the misses hasn't complained. Thanks for bringing this up. As a matter of interest, what temperature tolerance would you find acceptable? Cheers, Mike.

      @@Mike-H_UK Hi
What is the temperature when a single thermocouple is gently sandwiched between both ceramic plates?

@@Trevs-Shed Thanks. I'll try tomorrow and get back to you... I was wondering if I was significantly insulating the whole system since the silicone mat covered the whole area of the two plates and I was applying pressure to stop the thermocouples moving.

      Hi Trev,
I measured the temperature of the GHD Platinum+ straighteners again and got a few different results depending on how I performed the measurement.
      1. Lower plate facing upwards, single thermocouple junction forced against plate by springiness in cable: 172 deg C after stabilising.
      2. Lower plate facing upwards, single thermocouple pushed onto plate by small piece of silicone with light screwdriver pressure: 187 deg C after stabilising.
      3. Sandwich between two plates and thermocouple in between. Finger pressure closes plates just enough so that thermocouple junction is trapped between plates: 192 deg C.after stabilising.
Both plates give similar results to within 3 deg C.
I suspect that (2) best represents the situation when the straighteners are ‘resting’ and (3) best represents the case with the straighteners are in use. So, probably around 190 deg C is a good working average.

I have received a ghd gold s7n261. It shows the red constant blinking and beeping switch default. Im an electrician from Germany and at the end i only like safe and clean reperations. I searched your website and siriushair. I mean at the moment I didnt opened the device. I thought about buying one heating element, two fuses. These parts are together about 30€. I understand that the heating settings are may not ideal from the circuit board to the heating element. But if I order more parts, especially from the UK, the price will be to high. I will open the device in the beginning of the next week. Could you give me some informations for what I have to look and maybe you could gave me a special deal, then I would send you the device for repairing.. I dont need an tracking id for the mail.. I hope you could help me a little bit. Thanks!

      Hi
This model requires modifications to be completed. You will not be able to repair it.
I do not sell parts for this model for that reason.
Our repair service is for UK customers only.

      Hello,
thats a shame you deny me some tips or even a link to your own website. I also intended to reach for informations about an serious repair service in my coutry, so I do not have to do the work. Is it my fault your offering no good deals for people outside of the UK. I like your website alot but I also hope cg60 will also not be economic for you anymore. I got all my infos I need, thanks to your website.

@@SimpsonsFanNr1 I am running a business and have spent over two years working on this model. Developing firmware for it and solving various issues with it. No one else has this knowledge. And you can blame Brexit for us not doing overseas repairs.
