  • A quick look at this new model.
Mainly for other engineers, very much the same as the GHD Gold with some small variations, see the in video comments.

As explained at 9:53 - for cover removal the key is to pop the hinge end off first. I was able to use a iFixIt Jimmy to start from pad end and work down the side not with the intenion of opening the clips but making a gap down the side to reach the hinge.
Once I wedged the metal and twisted to 'pop' the narrow (hinge) end, the rest of the clips gave up easy as I worked back up (don't even attempt the wide end clips - they unlatch automatically one the sides are unclipped).
    Thanks for the video 👍

Hi Trevs, with your help I was capable to disassemble and re-assemble the GHD Pro Max which was not working due to red beeps... It seems that it was a fault contact problem, because once tear down, the plates and the thermistores were working. Again thanks for your video! Kind regards Andrea

    Hiya,
I have these exact straighteners and i have googled an issue with them. I believe that the thermal fuse has blown.
Do you think it would be possible to replace the fuse myself?
I'm gutted because my straighteners are only a year passed the warranty so unfortunately having yhem replaced by GHD isn't an option 😩
    Thank you xx

Okay, something very strange has just happened!
When I tried to turn my straighteners on this morning there was one beep and the power light was a red ring. They wouldn't power on. So by googling it I thought the thermal fuse had blown.
But I've just tried again and they are working fine 😕 I turned them on and the ring was white and they started to heat up. I let them sit for a few minutes to see if the red ring came back but they're working fine. I'm so puzzled.
Do you know why they might do this?
      Thank you xx

@@Trevs-Shed thank you for your reply.
The crazy thing is my straighteners have weirdly started working again 😕 I'm happy don't get me wrong, because I was getting ready to take my son for his birthday meal. But I find it really odd because it seemed like they were broken because of the thermal fuse blowing. They weren't switching on and had a red circle that is usually white. But now they are switching on and working as normal. Do you know anything about this or why this might happen?
      Thank you

Might be a language issue here, you don't get shorts on resistors. This model can not be repaired without specialist knowledge, spares and equipment.
