Who were the Hittites, and why was iron so important to them? Sal covers the history of the Hittite Empire, a civilization in Asia Minor that was among the first peoples to master ironworking. Iron tools, weapons, and chariots gave the Hittites a decisive advantage in combat, and it enabled them to conquer and hold territory.

Love these history videos but they are hard to follow because they are not part of an official Khan playlist, neither from this channel or the official Khan history channel. Could you make a playlist with these videos chronologically?

Peace is a long road, but I'm sure we're continuing to make progress on it. How cool to think of a time when this kind of agreement was a new idea! Obviously, it's not easy to live in peace, but formally agreeing to want to seems like an important step.

Note all of the mentions of "brother" and "brotherhood" in the peace treaty. A lot of forced familial and kinship relations in order to cement peaceful relations in this era. An era prior to more modern common bureaucratic formalities and norms and institutions which substantiate peace and order. Dr. Eric Cline referenced this a bit in "1177 B.C.: The Year Civilization Collapsed."

After Adad Nirari I annexed Mitanni Mursili III wrote him a tablet stating a hilarious reply
"So you’ve become a “Great King,” have you? But why do you still continue to speak about “brotherhood” and about coming to Mt. Ammana?... For what reason should I call you “brother”?…Do those who are not on familiar terms with each other call each other “brother”? Why then should I call you “brother”? Were you and I born of the same mother? As my grandfather and my father did not call the King of Assyria “brother,” you should not keep writing to me (about) “coming” and “Great King-ship.” It displeases me."

Mr. Khan I understand you're not an expert on this subject but you are making a number of mistakes in your videos regarding Proto Indo Europeans (PIE). 1. For the origins of PIE you keep mentioning Caucasus but pointing an area above Caucasus mountains which is really the Steppes (flat, grasslands). It's already been proven that to label "white people" as Caucasian is a mistake. This is when the European arm chair philosophers thought the origins of white people were Caucasus or Caucasia. Let's not confuse genetics with languages. 2. Not only PIE didn't originate from Caucasus mountains, Indo-European languages never totally assimilated the Caucasus mountain tribes. Because of the mountains, ethnically and linguistically speaking Caucasus is one of the most diverse areas. I repeat: Caucasus languages are not in the Indo-European family (other than a few exceptions such as Ossetians, Armenians and Russians who arrived much later than the Yamnaya culture, PIE, expansion). 3. Anatolian people were not a single group but a number of tribes who came from different directions (Balkans and Iran). For example Hittites and Phrygians came from different directions and spoke different types of Indo-European languages and there's even a theory that Hittites may have spoken a sister language of PIE. I don't mean to confuse further but there was another Indo-European type of people neighbouring Hittites in Northern Syria called Mitannis whose ruling class probably spoke an Indo-Aryan language. Ps. I already posted this message on your other video on the related subject.

We hardly find anything about Proto-Afro-Asiatic civilization except the Egyptians.
Phoenicians weren't Barbaric, In fact Carthagians were Enigmatic, Even more so were Nabateans.
Please make something on other Afro-Asiatic groups.
