I own a 2015 red summit GC and it has been flawless. People really love repeating the same old outdated notion of Chrysler products. The new GC? Sure. This generation is really solid.
I couldn’t agree more, had a 2015 Charger and never one issue with it. But reading about the most recent models and stellantis in general screwing over employees and customers alike, it’s inevitable
This generation was more reliable because when it came out in 2011 it was using Mercedes’ old ML platform. Same with the challenger and charger which used the 1985 Mercedes 500e chassis.
Outdated notion on chrysler products?😂😂 Ha! Try again. It's not a random opinion that they build horrendously unreliable vehicles, it is a fact that they have proven for over 20 years. There's a reason ALL jeep models are at the very bottom of the list for reliability. The same goes for the Pacifica. These are facts, not opinions
@@nicksterr2086my grandparents have been a Chrysler family since the 70’s and still are. They have never once had any problems with their vehicles. Its a hit or miss with chrysler products. I bought a 2015 grand cherokee with 142k miles on it from an auction. It now has 150k miles on it and it still runs fine. The transmission is a little jerky from 1st to second when not properly warmed up but its a common issue with this generation. Its been great

Great review, I like this model GC, proportions look way better than the new model that replaced it. Also it is cool to see the V8 in the Summit with all its 4x4 goodies. 👍🏼👍🏼
These are good. They have the off-road capability, nice design, and apt luxury features. The size is just right - they don't need 3 rows of seating. Nice vehicles.
@ I believe you ! I just see a bunch of V6 GC’s and barely any 5.7 Hemi’s. If they are for sale you pay a premium for the Hemi since V8s are being phased out

Hey! When you did the New Yorker and Hornet I told you that you shoulda done my 16 hemi summit! Glad you loved it. They are wonderful! Love the videos can’t wait to shoot another!
My mother-in-law swears by these grand Cherokee. She’s had a 2014 limited with the V6 that unfortunately was totaled at 147,000 miles. Now she has a 2018 limited V6 with roughly 85,000 miles. She has had a couple problems with them, shockingly all emissions issues and in her 2014 her heated seat on the driver side stopped working. She’s never had any transmission problems, it’s never left her stranded. And after she was rear-ended by a dump truck and that car kept her perfectly safe. She’s completely hooked. They are very nice cars, I do love riding in it with the heated seat and all. I personally would probably have one myself, however 22 miles per gallon on the freeway is not gonna work for me, although I know it’s not bad.!
Grand Cherokees are what made Jeep into a luxury brand. They drive nice and have good features. My dad has a base WK2 Grand Cherokee and it's a solid driving experience. It drives heavy and the pillars are thick but it's comfortable. The engines have been around so long that they've gotten the bugs worked out and the transmission is the famously reliable ZF8. A quirk of these is that the batteries are under the passenger seat. It's a holdover from the Mercedes-Benz platform it's based on.
I have a 21 GC Limited with the 3.6 and I love it tbh. Sometimes I wish I’d gone with a Trailhawk, but overall it’s a good car and very capable in the snow.
Bought a 16 new for my wife. 56k in engine consumed oil and smoked on start up. After engine disassembly Cylinder 3 had no oil control ring installed, new rings and head gaskets and still on to this day. Humans make these machines, anything can happen.
I always see the Summit GC at car auctions, specifically the one I work at. The 3.6 Summits are absolutely trash, I swear there is ALWAYS an issue with them. I handle deliveries of vehicles, checking them in, and when I see a Summit, I get all giddy because it's the only Jeep I like. I have seen one handful of 5.7 Summits at my work where they rarely have an issue or one (usually just the TPM sensor). A lot of the summits w/ 5.7 come in with an exhaust kit or rarely; a supercharger (only 1 or 2 did). Very cool SUV.
This was the point where the Grand Cherokee, after desperately hanging onto its one remaining straight axle throughout the late 2000s, inevitably lost its true Jeep status and became the generic AWD family crossover that it is today. Much like the Nissan Pathfinder and Dodge Durango did around this time as well. With the first and second generations of Grand Cherokee (ZJ & WJ) Jeep proved that a unibody SUV can be comfortable and luxurious on road while simultaneously offering simple, robust and effective straight axles both front and rear. It’s really unfortunate that no such vehicle has existed since. I wish Jeep could someday revive the original design philosophy of the Grand Cherokee and apply it to a new one. It would be so much better than people think it already it is.
The WK Grand Cherokee might be the last good Jeep product out there. After the WK Grand Cherokee, Stellantis has basically gone downhill in quality, luxury, and feel while up in price. Even then, reliability on the WK is hit or miss but still a lot better than anything Jeep has now.
Daily driver of a 2014 grandcherokee summit until cylinder 3 misfire, replaced coils, spark plugs and fuel injectors with no luck finding the issue, any suggestions or related problems?
I had this exact same grand cherokee for 2 years. It was miserable. Not only did the engine randomly loose compression in 2 cylinders, the transmission wouldn't shift past 5th gear. Mind you this had 20,000 miles on it. Ac compressor went, electronic speedometer just went black one day, heated seats failed, & drive mode selector also failed. Don't let people fool you these are rolling piles of garbage.
Damn. For a jeep product from 2015, heated seats, heated steering wheel, ventilated seats, power folding mirrors, air suspension, etc. are all really impressive.
The Grand Cherokees have always been pretty decked out. My 2002 Grand Cherokee Limited has Quadra-Drive which is arguably the best 4x4 system Jeep ever made with factory front and rear hydraulic lockers (think Rubicon, but the lockers are automatically engaging), heated power 10 way leather seats, auto headlights, sunroof, 5 speed automatic, electronic pedal adjust, memory seats, built in tire pressure sensors with readout, digital overhead readout (instant mpg, avg mpg, oil life, tpms, multiple menus for door lock controls, and headlight controls etc.). For 2002 that's remarkable
More like a descendant. Like the LX sedans and the Crossfire, this is based on a hand-me-down MB platform as MB moved the donor MB model to a new platform.
