The real problem in my amateur evaluation is the inability of the team to deal with Mexico's pressing. World Cup teams will use this blueprint. Press the US deep in the US's own end. A better team would have scored goals against the US because of how many turnovers the US had near its own goal. This has to be better.

They had 70% of the possession I say they did well.. 17 shots 6 on target to mexico 3shots with 1 on target.

@@RichardBoudrot-oz6gb This was a warm up. Many of the European based players are in their off season. England and Netherlands played a warm up behind closed doors. Nobody would have wanted to get injured, plus their passing will no doubt get sharper, plus their speed at getting the ball up the pitch in typical US fashion. Sam Mewis reported just how hot it was too.
Note that Germany and Spain lost their recent games, not needing to win to qualify for the Euros finals, but saving something for the Olympics.

It was noticeable that the team had several players from European clubs, where it is the off season. This was more about game time and not risking injuries before the Olympics. I also think Emma would not want to show too much tactically, just get a game in, whilst doing just enough to win.
Note that England's final is against Spain, the country which had academies for young talent, that England copied. No coincidence that it was the same teams in the women's World Cup final and recent women's u17 Euro final, plus a recent junior men's Euros. Is it time to move away from the college sport model for football?

Won't help, The academies in Europe are reflective of their dedication to the game of soccer. Finally the women have begun to emerge from these academies and it shows in their play, especially Spain. Soccer is the sport of the rest of the world, women have finally begun to experience that dedication finally passing Team USA in tactics and style of play.

@@jorgevelasquez9955 US talk of investing in women's football. Why not in Spanish clubs on condition of places in academies for US youngsters. The youngsters recently played a couple of games in Alicante, so it does not seem impossible to consider.

@alansmithee8831 Fantastic idea! The quickest way to get great results. These US prodigies all need to play in Europe at the beginning of their careers. Bravo for players like Corbin,Horan,Macario who make these sacrifices. Bravo.
