Anyone thinking Albert wasn’t going to be selected either doesn’t know soccer, or is just willfully being stupid. She’s one of a few players that have played in EVERY game in 2024. She’s good. Leave her be.
If Albert had made or endorsed a racist statement or celebrated a racially motivated violent act against another player, would her athletic prowess alone suffice? Why does homophobia seem to receive leniency? Being equitable is hard and it demands empathy for those most harmed.
It seems that some presenters had not got that Emma was not there to pick a team to represent a movement that existed in women's sport. She was hired to develop a US team that could compete moving forward, not stick with what had started to hold the US team back, by not giving younger players a chance. In other countries, the same generation of players in this team are already under pressure from their younger rivals, who grew up in a professional environment. An example is Lily Yohannes already playing professionally at 16.
Why no mention of Lily Yohannis? I'm pretty sure why she was not even named as an alternate. Lily probably still wants more time to make her decision, which is what I thought she would do. The Dutch are a top 10 nation and if she chooses the Netherlands she gets to play in the Euros every four years. The fact that the men's competition is in full swing and the fanatical Dutch Orange army is in full voice will not have been lost on her. If the truth be told, the USA would jump at the chance to play in the Euros. The Copa America (especially the women's version) doesn't even come close and the Olympics as a multi-sport event does not get anything like the eyeballs/coverage of the Euros and the World Cup. It's a big decision to have to make, but the Euro fact is a big enough factor to weigh her decision in favour of the Netherlands. Her indecision is the only reason that would make any sense. But I would have liked to have heard what the panel thought nonetheless.
Why would she be involved? You've edited instead of responding. Lily just turned 17 and only has 20 minutes of playtime against a lower ranked country. I'm not saying she isn't talented or should get more playtime..but for the Olympics? Absolutely not.
Lily Johannes is not dumb…She knows her future is with the Netherlands! She also plays her football in Europe, so why should she commit to the USWNT? You Americans, with your elitist view of everybody wanting to play for the US is pathetic! Just grow your own players for f.s instead of poaching foreign players!! That goes for the USMNT also!
@@michEjo-j4l Hershfelt is 21 and starts in the top soccer league in the world with the very likely ROTY Bethune who is another alternate. They have strong chemistry. And again Lily just turned 17, I don't think you realize the development that is needed.
I’ll say it again if you say @old with the old” than it’s time for ALL the old to go. I’ll say it the ONLY reason Certain named forward is named is because she plays multiple positions, if she only played one position she’d be in the same position AM is in. She’s lost a step or four and at times lately gets cooked. Sorry yall but not sorry.
Shouldn't we be concerned that Emma only took 3 CBs and NO alternates to the Olympics? If one of them were to get hurt we'd be down to 2 starters and no backup. I feel like one of the midfield alternates should have been used on a CB

she's been in that rotation with the midfield since February. Working in someone new at this point would be a mistake.
Versatility becomes crucial when all you have is 18 players...

Why only talk about the alternates and trainers, but not the actual players?
I am shocked that Alex Morgan has been left off the roster for the team! I think you will be sorry in the long run! Please rethink this decision!!
Yessssss! It’s been a long time coming. Thank god Alex Morgan is GONE! Now we can finally win some games!
They prefer to go on and on about Morgan.
I love Emma Hayes so much I believe in her alot She will make Our Beautiful USA Women Team great again.🥰😍🤗❤❤❤❤❤🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍💙💙💙💙💙💯💪🙏👍
