As a drummer myself , Buddy Rich had Rhythm and technique had staying power . He was right-handed but, his lift hand was faster than his right hand . The World is now losing so many Iconic Musicians . Their talent is Irreplaceable That it would take Decades to find another Buddy Rich !! Jazz is an instrumental solos played by very talented Jazz player's in so many different instruments. Rest in Peace Buddy Rich the greatest drummer to have ever lived . There's no competition here, so keep on Drumming in Heaven !!!
First I want to say that I LOVE many other drummers, from Bonzo, Bozio, Moon and Mitchell to Gadd, Cobham, DeJohnette and Chambers (and MANY others.) And I know it's not a competition. BUT. Only 1:30 in and I had to pause and write this. This man was the greatest. Come on, how can you think otherwise? Even if his style of music isn't your thing, he just did more with his cymbals in 90 seconds than almost any other drummer ever did with a full kit. That left hand (fast!) metronome on the high hat while the right roams freely? Those dynamics? Sick. Ok, going to watch the rest, then burn my sticks.
