    The Esembly covers do work well over prefold/flats. We switched because we found the Thirsties hard to unsnap but love the Esembly covers.

      @@soulhorse hi there! I honestly have no clue as far as brands. We used the Diaper Stork diaper service in Seattle, so it was whatever they brought to us each week.

    I was worried about trying to snap 2 diapers on my wiggly baby also. I'm thinking about getting some of these for nighttime. Thanks for the review and update.

      I used these when he was calm and pockets when he was super fussy. It’s def worth it for night though. I use their booster in it and it’s not too bulky. I will say I think the rolling thing is a phase bc my son is getting much better!!

    Thank you for this super informative video! You mentioned that you spray the soiled diapers right away and that helps to reduce the likelihood of stains, can I ask what spray you use? Thanks so much :)

      Thanks! I use a diaper sprayer (handheld bidet). It is attached to my water line by the toilet and I spray waste into the toilet and flush it. They are pretty easy to install even though it looks tricky. I watched a UA-cam and I was able to do it myself.

    Great review! When you recommend spraying it off, do you mean with a bidet sprayer? The Esembly Q & A was discouraging using bidet sprayers for some reason (I think risk of damaging the fabric), so I'm trying to assess how seriously to take that advice. I can't really imagine not being able to spray off...

    • @AM12378
      @AM12378  Рік тому

      I think it’s because they want to make it as easy as possible. The liners are more quick and clean. If you do decide to use them, I wouldn’t flush them. I found it more annoying to use them than convenient but some people like them a lot.

    This was so helpful, thank you!! We were planning to start cloth diapering maybe a month or so Into our first baby to give ourselves a little time to acclimate to parenthood so now I’m trying to figure out sizing. Realistically how long would you say they are in a size one? I would hate to waste the money on a size one but also don’t want to wait too long to get into the cloth diapers if size two is a ways away.

    • @AM12378
      @AM12378  2 роки тому +2

      We started size two around 6 months. You could always use a cheaper brand like alvas from the website for the first few months in the newborn size and get the Esembly for the rest of diapering.

    This video was definitely helpful! Did you have to prep them before you used them or I can use them when they arrive? (I’ve heard mixed reviews saying I could use them as is) I think I’m going to try these and order a few pocket diapers. I’m new to cloth diapering ☺️!

    • @AM12378

    Hello! Question about spraying these - when you do spray them, do you feel like you need to wring them out before you put them in the wet bag? And do you feel like it cuts down on the amount of time between needing washes? We are planning on using Esembly (just got our size ones!) but I'm worried about mildew/mold if I spray them, even if washing every 2-3 days.
    Would love to hear what your experience has been!

    • @AM12378
      @AM12378  3 роки тому +4

      Hi! Congrats - you’ll love them!
      Yes, wring them out otherwise they’re sopping wet. I only spray the #2 diapers. The pee diapers smell worse like ammonia after a few days but there’s no need to rinse every diaper. They completely clean. I use the Esembly powder and it’s amazing.
      You also shouldn’t have any mold or mildew issues in that timeframe, but some tips to avoid it: don’t store used diapers in extreme heat over prolonged periods and spray off any old food (once baby starts eating solids, for example).
      The old diapers smell pretty gross before washing but after they’re done, they smell totally fresh. I’ve used tide with my top loader, but with my new HE machine, I got buildup. I was amazed when I tried Esembly and I’ve never looked back.

    I just got these but when they arrived I noticed there are no rise snaps. How do you work with that?

    • @AM12378
      @AM12378  3 роки тому +1

      At first I was hesitant about that too but because they have sizes mostly but also bc or the elastics being stretchy and the fit you don’t need the rise. I feel like there’s a little more poof at the bottom when they’re at the bottom of the size but both seem to fit great. They’re more straight forward for other caretakers too bc they don’t have extra snaps

    Hi! :) Did you end up trying out their detergent? Did you like it? Also I heard because the inserts are sewn in, it cam be hard to spray the poop off. How has that been for you?

    • @AM12378
      @AM12378  3 роки тому +1

      Hi! Yes I use the detergent now and I LOVE it. It’s been like magic. Incredible. Regarding spraying, there are more areas the poop gets stuck than a pocket but it’s not a problem. It doesn’t take me significantly longer to spray. If anything, I would say he fabric scrunches and stitches is where the poo gets stuck and also the fabric has a little texture that makes it stick a little. All in all, it’s not too bad to spray though and I don’t get stains.

    • @zule137

      Probubly not the best idea (since it involves some hand eye coordination and modification to a pricy diaper) but based on another review I cut most of the threads and only left the very back row of threads attached (just so that I am not hunting down the inners once wash time comes around). Fair warning you can see the holes left behind by the threads (which didn’t bother me at all). I started off removing a section to see if it would bother me before I did the other sections. I removed the aforementioned sections on one diaper after washing it once and the rest brand new. I have a feeling that once I wash them the tiny holes will become even less apparent. My baby won’t be here until March but I am hoping this will help with the cleaning process.

    Hi! how many inners would you recommend for starting with a newborn and how many outers?

    • @AM12378
      @AM12378  3 роки тому

      Hi! That depends on how often you plan on washing. For washing every two days maybe 24 inners or so? For covers, it depends how many times you want to reuse a cover. You could get away with just a few if you wanted. I have a ton of covers though so it’s up to you. There are also other cheaper covers. I’m just thinking you could save for size two bc that grow out of size one so fast.

    I am new to cloth diapers and just started using these. Do the inners get super soaked? I find after 2 hours, the entire inners are super wet - like the whole inner is wet all over. Is that normal for this type of diaper?

    • @AM12378
      @AM12378  2 роки тому +1

      They will feel wet. If it’s completely saturated, you might need to change more often. You can use liners for a more stay-dry feel if needed. Or you could try boosting with the overnighters. Those also have a stay dry feel on one side.
