- Опубліковано 18 жов 2024
- In this video we shall be showing the process to put a Mk4 Ford Focus (2018 upwards) Electronic Parking Brake (epb) into service mode prior to commencing service or repair work. This process is essential to carry out as unintentional Electronic Park Brake actuation may occur, resulting in serious personal injury. This process will often work on other Ford Vehicles with the Electronic Parking Brake.
Only carry out this process if you are suitably qualified in vehicle mechanics, SY Diagnostics cannot be held responsible for any injuries or damage caused by the improper use of this process or subsequent work upon the vehicle.

Awesome thanks for this. Spent 20 mins on the diagnostics computer looking for it 😂
Thanks for sharing! You saved me! Now the official service will have to wait for me a little bit longer! Thanks again! :)
Thanks very much! This just did the business on my 2017 Ford Galaxy 👍
Thanks for posting this. Just serviced and fitted an HEL brakeline to the passanger side rear brake of my 2023 2.3 Ecoboost ST4 with no dramas. I unplugged the brake at the caliper just for good measure. Drivers side to do tomorrow night.
Do you still have the oem brake discs on your ST? Im thinking about changing mines
I replaced the front with EBC discs and pads. The rear ones I left the stock ones in. It had only done 14k miles at the time and they were fine.
@@JasonMaximHall Did you experienced any warping ? I have some steering vibration while braking at high speeds ( above 200km/h) which doesnt happen at lower speed at all.....
None of the pads had been out in two years before I bought it. The front discs were quite worn. The steering wheel would oscillate up to 60mph. Braking was smooth, just vague, spongy and wooden feeling. Much better now.
@@JasonMaximHall Got it, mine was good before de dealer changed my pads. He put oem just it doesnt break like before...
Since i dont have acces to EBC, i might consider other setup
Thank you very much! It really helped a lot! Couldn’y find the Way and with this video I could change the rear brakes of my Focus!
Thanks for posting this video!!
Simple and too the point, many thanks for this.
Great video as always
It just reminded my customer with an Audi A8L he decided to have go at rear pad replacement 😂 offside rear calliper gave a ghost immediately near side one was a bit more resilient to custard attack gone dead after about eight weeks 😂
He saved a lot I guess
Callipers over £300 a pop plus labour 😂
You take care mate and stay safe these funny times
Yeah a friend is having issues with pad change in an audi , new tech crap .....
@@leso204 wouldn’t say that it’s very easy if you follow the correct procedure
@@sitdox It's easy when the software plays ball, when the computor says no your screwed diagnostic software can be a contrary animal, also auto manufacturers not putting out software to none marque garages on purpose ............
Do you know if this is this the same for the Mk3 Kuga? And is it required if replacing the front brakes?
@@benlomax7513 don’t think so should be just plain regular setup
Awesome saved me hundreds ££££
Lovely garage excellent video thank you soo much 👍
Nice to know Steve thanks for sharing it mate 👍👍👍

Thank you SY
Thanks for sharing... Cheers.
Great video thanks for the help 👍👍
Excellent. It works BUT!! Only if in max 3 sec you repush the ignition. 5 seconds is too much. It took me few good attempts.
Thanks for sharing 👍nice one
Another great video.
Glad you enjoyed it
Thankyou for this big help
Once you ve done that can u push the pistons back without elektronic procedure? Just push them back? Thanks
yes
@@SYDiagnostics thanks 👍 is it the same procedure with a key? It’s not with a start/stop button (not keyless)
@@gabrielapereirahennau809 I can't see why it won't work
Hi. EPB? I HAVE START/STOP BECAUSE FORD FOCUS MK4 2019. PLS. Steps for this case. Thx
Great video , thanks for sharing 👍👍👍👍
Nice Video mate 👌
Don't do without reading this !
There's some steps missing for deactivating maintenance mode.
I've just given a try for activating maintenance mode. Now they're now really in maintenance mode.
But, I can't DEACTIVATE maintenance mode as described here.
Focus 2019 automatic.
Thank you SY. Good job again. I wonder if this procedure is the same for other models of Ford's. Have a blessed and safe week to you and your family.
ive found its a bit hit n miss to be honest....works on mondeo, i couldnt get it to work on edge
My car will not come out of service mode and seem to have a number of brake related error messages. Any suggestions as to where to look?
What fault codes do you have stored?
@@SYDiagnostics
Had to fire up Forscan in the end to get out of service mode.
Unfortunately didn't record the fault codes but do remember having an ABS, Steering position and Handbrake errors.
Also had a problem with it not wanting to come out of service, it ran the pistons back in and then nothing more happened. ended up having to run the caliber back a bit with a battery and then it went out of service the first time I tried again.
Is that if park break don't work???
Does anyone know if the rear pads need rotating and pushing in like typical non e-brakes, or is it just pushing only?
once the mechnism is retracted electronically, the pistons can be pushed back and don't need windin back.
Hi Steve
I.ve recently bought a ford focus. The dealer tells me there is no way to programe the settings for the electronic handbreak to activate automatically when the car is switched off. Is this true? Regards
I have a 2020 focus which has auto hold. But when I turn the ignition off the parking braking brake automatically engages. And disengages when I drive off. Not sure if auto hold is the key factor
@@SYDiagnostics thanks! I tried with the autohold botton on but it only activates the handbrakes sometimes, for example in flat if i stop slowly and switch the car off it doesn.t.
@@et9063 I'm currently on vans, but when I next see a focus mk4 I'll take a look
@@SYDiagnostics thanks a lot! By the way what.s mk4? A model?
@@et9063 2019 onwards
Hi. Und wie soll ich das machen mit Automatik Getriebe 🙏
Do you know if it is the same on cars with automatic gearbox? tried the procedure, and got it in servicemode. But now I cant get it engaged again?!
yes it should be the same procedure
did you solved this issue ? I have an automatic gearbox too and I don't want to start procedure without being sure of what I do lol
Didn’t know this was an option.
easier on forscan.......but for those who dont have access theres this option
Do i leave the car in gear while doing this to stop it from rolling while handbrake off?
You'd usually be working on the rear brakes with it jacked up. So I'd have the from wheels chocked or left in gear
@@SYDiagnostics ok thanks, I'm looking for a fix for my 2020 Ford Focus ST Line, had a warning message 2 days ago saying Park brake melfunction service, now. Got in touch with Ford they are going to pick it up Friday for me to look at, seen this fault on UA-cam but no real answer. Hope you can help? Thanks
@@sibriers5254 i've not seen any issues yet, but have heard of park brake motors failing
@@SYDiagnostics i keep getting this warning message Parking brake malfunction service now but parking brake seems to work , warning light and message, warning sound on as soon as i move car.
For mk 5 2021 the same process?
I no longer work at Ford, however, I can not see the process being any different
👍👍👍👍
The issue i have with the new electro park brake is there is no manual lockout , & if the OBD has a female moment and wont go into service mode you are screwed as a friend has found out ...........
i dont understand ? manual lock out? this methid requires no OBD. On the Focus Mk4 the motor can be removed and the park brake wound off manually
@@SYDiagnostics on differant makes some require service mode activated by OBD , by lockout i ment a safety lockout tool, sorry to confuse with other makes was just making a point not impressed with all this new tech' the case in point is a Audi A6 OBD refuses to go into brake service mode it's ongoing at the moment for a solution , in theory you could have the same issue with a ford if the peddle ignition combination input did not work ........
Hi itd can be work on
KUGA 2017 2.0 TDCI
i dont think its the same process, there is a process for the kuga and will look into doing video
