Before I was first diagnosed with type 2 I was pre-diabetic for 25 years, and overweight by 40 lbs during much of that time. During the end of 2020 and the beginning of 2021 I noticed I was constantly thirsty and urinating, as well as having severe peripheral neuropathy. On May of 2021 I was diagnosed with type 2 with an A1C of 10.6 and a fasting of 320. I refused all meds, cut carbs and sweets to balance my glucose levels off at first and eventually reintroduced carbs back into my diet gradually in order to reach my desired weight. I'm still not taking meds but my A1C is now 5.8 and fluctuates if I'm not careful what I eat. I do eat sweets and high carb foods on occasion but constantly check my glucose levels. You mentioned that for someone like me who loses weight rapidly with type 2 diabetes you would have deep concerns for my pancreas as far as producing insulin. Am I an exception, and had my pancreas made a miraculous recovery considering I've never taken meds and eat basically anything I want but just in moderation
Hi, thanks for sharing your story. I hope it encourages others. Yes, your pancreas is indeed affected, that's why you have to be careful with what you eat. Those who catch it earlier, before weight loss can do better than that. You are somewhere in the middle. If I were you, I would not eat refined carbs and sugar at all, and I would add some resistance exercise.
Yes, it is easily reversible, especially at the early stage. But some people wait too long, until they lose all functional beta cells, then it's not possible. Thanks
Glad to see you're back ....... "Speaking English" since being on a low carb diet and practicing Intermittent Fasting I've lost weight and have better control for my insulin resistance. ...
I suffered hipoglacimia and developed pancreatic tumors and had the tumors removed in 1990 in the USA. In the hospital when my sugar drops too low because of too much insulin they just added heaps of sugar to orange juice and gave me to drink. Sugar sugar sugar and asking me to eat frequently. I was so clueless about my condition l thought my medical team new what they were doing. Tumor removed and hypoglycemia improved but no one told me l had Insulin resistance so l went back to eating the same foods in small potions six meals a day including fruits for snacks because I was told it's healthy. I followed these orders religiously till it nearly killed me so l had to take matters into my own hands to learn why my health is deteriorating. On UA-cam l learned the opposite of what l have been told by my medical team to do and was shocked.
Wow, you had the tumor removed in 1990. It's good to be informed and discuss things with your doctor. You have done well (much better then average). How are you now?
Excellent channel! Thank you sooooo much! Besides being a doctor. You're an excellent teacher. Im learning do much...I just got diagnosed...Glad to learn I still have some good cells. I m trying hsrd to reverse it
Thanks a lot. If you've just been diagnosed your chances of leaving a normal life is high as long as you live a healthy lifestyle. What was your A1C at the time of diagnosis?
I caught mine early. I was fat (BMI 32) but fit (daily cyclist) until wiped out by flu. They dumped me into "chronic illness" and put me on meds. Didn't listen to me so I left the practice and lost 10 kilos quickly so was back to normal. Even 20 kilos lighter at BMI 26 with perfect HBa1c lipids and BP the new practice won't leave me alone. A shame I wasn"t advised BEFORE I so nearly damaged my metabolism.
That's great. Being a cyclist puts you in a better position to reverse diabetes or prediabetes than others, because your muscles might be more insulin sensitive than those who don't exercise. Which means removing excess weight is enough 👌
hey doc, I was diagnosed as diabetic 2 in June of 2020. too much covid eating I guess 😂 but I had a a1c of 14.8 I was in full dka when I found out and had lost alot of weight quickly which is why I went to the hospital. but I changed my diet to low carb and starting working out hard. in 3 months it dropped to 6.0 and I got my diabetes checked again recently and its a 6.0 again. I dont take any meds I fast 16-8 and very low carb, and workout. any help on how to get myself into the 5s naturally?
I think your plan is good. And the results approve it. I would just continue like that. You don't have to go to 5. If you live a healthy and active life and stay at 6 you can also avoid complications.
L.A.D.A is somewhere between type 1 (the worst one) and type 2 (the nicer one😀). But your treatment will depend on your current situation. I will make a video about LADA one day. Thanks
Usually you are very positive and uplifting .. I feel as a person who may become type1 that I’m doomed... since it’s the (worst one).. stay positive for both please
I think you are right. Sorry. But you are not doomed, many people with type 1 can live a normal life until they are 100. The problem is that it requires more commitment, attention and hard work. With the development of new glucose measuring systems like CGMs things are getting easier.
My A1c started at 5.8 with a Homa-IR of 1.6 in February. At my 6 month follow up the A1c dropped to 5.6 but my Homa-IR had dropped to 1.1. Can I expect to see more of a significant drop in the A1c in another 6 months if my Homa-IR remains at this level?
I will make videos in Portuguese in the future. Daqui a alguns meses vou começar a gravar 2 vídeos (inglês e português). Agora só posso fazer um porque não tenho muito tempo. Thanks
I went for pregnancy glucose resistance test yesterday . I was starving after about two hours . I had to eat a really big meal so I reckon I don’t have to be worried right ??
Hi, starving after about two hours does not necessarily mean that the blood sugar is not high. It's likely but not always the case. So looking at the test results is better. Thanks
A minha gratidão!
Thanks again, for the support🙏
Thanks. Vai ter tradução amanhã! Mesmo agora é possível traduzir automaticamente no youtube. No próximo ano vou tentar fazer esses vídeos em português tambem.
@@Type-2-Diabetes His pancreas swallows and damage .Dr. advice to remove. Happened 2years back. Recently he endup with diabetes complications (nerve) the doctor treat him advice don't go for insulin injections. He advised take oral medication. Since he don't have pancreas and beta cell I ask him to go back to insulin. He still listen to doctor. My worries is he will end up with kidney problems. Pls advice tqvm.
@@balasandarkalieannan300 I think there must be a mistake somewhere. He can't take only oral medication if his pancreas was removed. Was it just a small part of the pancreas?

Watching UA-cam videos have done me well in understanding Insulin resistance and it's effect on my body.
Great. That's a good idea
Thanks for the new video. I love your "Worrying and crying is not on my list". :)
Thank you. I thought about cutting that part, now I'm glad I didn't😂
