Honestly you don't need all this to start and if you're streaming from console you don't need a capture card at all. Good mics and cams you can get for pretty cheap these days especially second hand and for console you can use the consoles cameras. People forget the most important aspect of streaming is the streamer themselves, they need to have a personality and be inviting. I've seen too many have every piece of fancy equipment but no personality on stream and never spoke making no one want to stick around.
Honestly by the time you buy an overpriced gaming laptop you might as well just build a pc and save money by not having to buy the elgato and second mic because the pc software can handle both.
You can use an elgato 4k 60fps capture card. It will do the same thing that capture card u have. Also u only need one mic. You can use it for both things you said. The blue yeti is also a usb condenser mic that cost the same as the other mic you have. You can just get a 3.5mm split jack aux cable and plug it in the blue yeti and then to the controller itself. It will capture your voice in xbox party and in game voice chat. Which will be relayed to the capture card. You dont need those crappy sound quality astro headphones with mix amp. It's not required u can get any open back high res headphones and connect it to the other plug on the special 3.5 aux cable. Also forget even using a controller just use a xim apex and use a gaming mouse n keyboard.
Well arent you just a smart cookie. No seriously tho, the guy is just showcasing the things your going to want to get if you want to take a serious leap into streaming and actually try and make it a profession. Yeah you can stream without have 85% of this stuff but theres already 1000s of people doing that, and no body wants to watch a choppy looking, crappy sounding, laggy stream when you can watch some other person streaming that same game in better quality with a better mic.
@@brandonenke2680 I’d have to disagree because if someone is going to become a professional streamer it’s not because of the equipment that makes you that it’s your personality, though equipment does help

Awesome video! Was trying to find something to explain what i need and how it works found alot of videos, and sites explaining but everything was beating around the bush and alot of brochure type stuff explaining that didnt really explain...... Cool to know i got astros, mixamp, and almost the same monitor...... Definitely appreciated. Excited to get started. Wish all those reading this have much success with their channel!
Great video, but I would recommend building a desktop versus buying a gaming laptop. The performance per dollar you will receive from a desktop computer versus a laptop is significantly better. Now, if you need a laptop because you're a student or take it on the go, then I understand. But if it never leaves your desk, just build a desktop and you'll be much happier, especially in the long run.
I would not take this route for starting, First of all PS4 has built in streaming and recording and maybe it’s not the best but it is better than nothing. Also you can buy the ps4 camera and use it when streaming and you can use a normal mic that is built into a gaming headset and you can edit on share factory pretty easily and you can just start all this sitting in your bedroom on your bed or couch in your living room with your friends.
Beautiful room... just makes me want to cry.. that's something I dream about....but so far I don't even have my own house (35yo completely broke and with 2kids)...ehhh life is heaven for some and hell for others....:(

Hey my guy stumbled across your video and it’s really informative. Thanks for this vid I know it’s old but it’s helping a great deal cause I am trying to get my setup together. Really appreciate this
Could you explain to me the reason I’d need a certain level of processor/graphics card at all? Sorry, I am not a PC gamer and I don’t even own a PC/laptop in any fashion right now. So I’m a bit ignorant to the whole topic. My situation is that I want to capture gameplay footage from my PS4 and record commentary. I’d then edit it all to make it a decent UA-cam video. My friend can let me borrow their Mac laptop. But based on this video, is that even possible or acceptable to edit a video with in that way? Or am I going to need to purchase a gaming PC/laptop? Thank you so much in advance if you can help me even a little bit at all!
@@ryanwest5179 you have the ps4, all you need is a capture card like the one he showed, you also need a computer with a good cpu, dont need to have the best gpu because you're gonna be gaming on ps4 anyways, you don't need two mics, just a blue yeti will work fine using obs, also for a camera you can use a logitech c920, those are 1080p for around 50 dollars , just go look at my twitch and look at a recent live video i have on there and see if you like the quality of my content, socials are on there too if you have anymore questions Twitch: Not_CrypticTV
Not_Cryptic what is considered a good cpu? I don’t know anything at all about computers. So I’d need to know the recommended cpu, or whatever other specs, I’d need if I’m being a PC/laptop.
Byron Tracey hm, if you’re just gonna stream with it you can get a Ryzen 5 3400g, that graphics card haves built in graphics or if you wanna game on the pc once in a while I would say get the starter pc on Nzxt website, they have good builds, but if you have a budget let me know so I can find something that’s prebuilt for you to plug and play
Not_Cryptic I probably wouldn’t be streaming at first, just creating UA-cam videos that I’d need to edit on a PC. Eventually I’d probably get into streaming, but if there’s a cheaper option I can purchase now and upgrade later for streaming purposes that’d be preferable. Or if streaming and editing captured gameplay on my PS4 for a UA-cam video would require the same thing then let me know and that’s fine haha. If I have to purchase one of these strong gaming PCs, then the most I’d want to spend would probably be $900, although I’d prefer to spend less than that. I saw that starter nzxt build was $900 so if 100% necessary I could get that. But for right now, I’m looking to make UA-cam videos a hobby rather than anything too serious and I’m not looking to get into PC gaming at all either at the moment.
I’m so grateful for this video and I’d love any advice you have for my problem..I record game audio using the Elgato software and when I talk in game chat or in a ps4 party, there’s an echo when I look back at my captured footage. I assume this is because of the separate commentary I record with my external mic, overlapping with my voice in game (which is I guess considered game audio?). Either way, I’m stuck and just want clean audio 😩 any tips?
I run a ryzen 5 3600 with a radeon RX 5600 Xt. Built this computer for $1200. And i can play any game and started a gaming channel. Using the red Dragon blazer microphone and free Davinci editing software.

Good luck my friends
The AT2020 works fine for PS4 too, downside is if you want to hear anything and be heard you gotta plug your headset in your mic and not throw your headset when you rage
My main question, I am NOT a PC gamer by any means and don’t even own a laptop/PC. Do I need a gaming PC/laptop? I’m wanting to make videos where I just capture gameplay off of my PS4(not competitive online games, just single-player games). Will be recording commentary and eventually face cam. How good a PC/laptop would I need? I have a friends Mac laptop I could use for editing if that’s even at all possible.
I have another suggestion for the capture card. Get an avermedia live gamer portable 2 plus. It’s like $150 and doesn’t need a pc. Just an as card and you can use whatever on it. you could hook it up to a computer if you want to do streaming as well
You don't need an i7 or a super great graphics card. I use a laptop with an i5 and an Intel UHD Graphics card and 8 gigs of ram, it works perfectly fine.
Not going to lie, you probably get low fps with an i5, you could just go with an i5 and a gpu ,which will get you good fps but if you want to stream and game on one pc, i7 and a good gpu will give you better fps.
Thanks alot, i was looking forward for such video. I'm a new creator, my video quality isn't great but i'll save for the capture card. Am sure it will take some time to reach my goal but i'll keep on going. Thanks for the informative video
I found this video very informative, thanks for taking the time to do this video and sharing it. Question, I'm thinking about doing FB live streaming so is everything you mentioned on this video needed to do that? Wasn't sure if video editing was needed if its live streaming. Thanks for your time and response
I’ve made thousands off cod beating people 1v1s and selling modded accounts and bought everything I’ve needed so far $300 benq $200 headset elgato. I just need a gaming PC. looks like a laptop is working just fine for you I might end up going for a nice gaming laptop this Black Friday. Let me know if you see any good ones go on sale
think of it like this, if you are getting a BANGER laptop, do you really need anything else? no right! also, the Xbox and ps4 have screen recording in it already. it won't be high quality but it's all you need to get started. no capture card, no two mics, no expensive headset, and no laptop. these are two reasons you don't need to buy a lot of stuff to get started. it will help but not worth it for how much you are gonna spend on it.
So you can not run just one mic for streaming? to record In Game Chat and commentary? That seems like a bit of overkill. If you had to use 2 mics, why not use the headset mic with your headphones instead of spending another $75+ on another usb mic? I am confused.
Lol didn't mention any true budget options. Here are a few ideas. 1. Most phones (that people already own) shoot 1080p @60fps 2. DaVinci Resolve is an amazing free video editing software that offers a pro version. Audacity is a free audio recording and editing software. GIMP and Inkscape are both free image editing programs. 3. You DO NOT need a $200+ headset, elgato offers a chat link cable for use with regular gaming headsets. The Elgato HD60S is definitely the best option even for beginners. Worth the investment. A good computer or laptop are also a must, yes. You ask a lot of your CPU and GPU when editing and such. "Doing what other youtubers do is by no means cheap" (paraphrased) - what a deceptive and discouraging comment to make. It is quite easy to setup a channel on a budget, yes a larger investment can provide higher quality results, but people have to start somewhere.
I have the astro a40s with mixamp (newer version) , 2 Asus monitor 27" 144 hz 1ms, I just ordered a mic and next month I'm getting a better graphics card for my PC. Things are slow but it's getting there
Would a mixer make a setup similar to yours better or not? I’m thinking of purchasing one but not sure if it’s a need or a want. Everything you have I have minus the external mic.
Nice video one thing I really wanted to see how can you setup all the gameplay together(Facecam, voice recording, gameplay recording..etc) on one software can you show us that.
Is the mic on the A50 just inferior? What is the reasoning for a second microphone if its just for talking to teammates? Is there interference with your commentary mic?
Well this is a lot. XD All very informative, ESPECIALLY for someone who's in the bracket to put it all to use, but most people here are just starting out with not much.
So what about my MacBook Pro (Late 2016 model)? Will that be just fine for everything? Not using it for recording my face or anything for overlays. Gonna has a Logitech plugged into the Xbox for that. Audio will be captured through my Astro A40 w/ mixamp pro. Using Streamlabs as well.
Great video!! What software do you use for your audio and noise gate? And from there, are you running the audio and Elgato to OBS (for Live Streaming)? Thank you.
i think your monitor was actually recalled for not really being 1ms as advertised. i may be wrong tho, but i know it was one of the models around that sound.
Question. Can you use a USB hub with the PS4 To do this? It only has 2 USB ports and I'm currently using 1 for an audio splitter (I use headphones not speakers) and the other for my racing wheel (I do SIM racing). Need a 3rd for the mic it seems!
When I hooked up my Elgato my screen on my monitor from the ps4 got supper dark but the video on the Elgato software on my Mac looks fine. Can anyone help? What’s going on
I’m using a tv for now until I can afford a monitor. Can I still use the elgato and hook it to my tv for now? Also is it better to build a pc or to use a laptop? I’ve been capturing off my tv and I want better quality.
You do not need a great graphics card in your pc if streaming from console, it's the CPU that is doing all the work, so yes, get the best CPU you can afford, if it has integrated graphics then you don't even need a graphics card
I have the yeti mic, elgato cap card and asus gaming laptop. When I dl the elgato drives and try to use it, it keeps coming up like a funhouse mirror. It’s like a thousand pictures within a picture. How do you have yours set up? It’s driving me nuts and I can’t figure it out. Please help.
You literally don’t need any of this higher end stuff if you are just starting. You don’t need the greatest to get it done. You need the know how of what to do with what you’ve got.
If Itell you what I have can you then tell me what else I need don't want to get stuff I don't need. First the pc Has 16gb's of ram, Cpu is a Ryzen 5 3600 , The Gpu is the RTX 2070 Super I assume the pc is fine. The series x will be here soon. I have two monitors one is 1ms 60 hz 1080 p the 2nd monitor is a 1440p 144 hz monitor 1 ms, both 27". Now which monitor should I game with on the series x ? Can I use the wireless headset and mic for the series x ? Ok with what I have what else do I need and how would you set it up ? Thanks
@@pestoshrimp7681 The 2nd monitor comes in handy for other things you are doing in the stream I am not sure about needing two monitors for recording games On both but I will be able to edit videos with pc and I imagine you might could record games or do captures with the console as well not really sure.
I have the same monitor. What settings do you have your monitor on for the PS4? And I can’t find a way to get elmb to work with the PS4 is it just for pc
I have all of these but the only problem I have is my headset on pick up the sound when it's on the elgato HD. My monitor is throwing the sound instead of my headset
Can you help me out please, I’ve got a PS4 slim at the moment with an Elgato HD60s Plus, Astro A50, a MacBook Air and a monitor, I’ve ordered and HDMI to digital audio adapter for the Astro A50 but I’m not too sure if I need anything else to start streaming? I really enjoy the videos but I’m new to streaming and can’t seem to find any helpful videos with a PS4 slim. Thanks 🙏🏽

“You took budget to a whole nother level”
“Yea all this equipment will run you about 20 thousand but they also have cheaper equipment for 10 thousand”
I don't have the space for a whole PC setup but would for a laptop. What do you recommend? What laptop are you using?
Can you make a vid putting everything together ?
Great video to follow, awesome bro. Thank you so much!! Really needed this! Greatly appreciated!
think of it like this, if you are getting a BANGER laptop, do you really need anything else? no right! also, the Xbox and ps4 have screen recording in it already. it won't be high quality but it's all you need to get started. no capture card, no two mics, no expensive headset, and no laptop. these are two reasons you don't need to buy a lot of stuff to get started. it will help but not worth it for how much you are gonna spend on it.
1. Most phones (that people already own) shoot 1080p @60fps
This is definitely for a serious youtuber already making a profit. My son wants to start a channel and looking for basic but not at this level.
I have the astro a40s with mixamp (newer version) , 2 Asus monitor 27" 144 hz 1ms, I just ordered a mic and next month I'm getting a better graphics card for my PC. Things are slow but it's getting there
A setup video with good audio hallelujah!!
Do you really need the Mixed Amp? I just bought a mic a few weeks ago and they’re Astro’s but its the one that hooks up to the controller without amp
Sammy Pena no you don't
Would a mixer make a setup similar to yours better or not? I’m thinking of purchasing one but not sure if it’s a need or a want. Everything you have I have minus the external mic.
This is an amazing video!!! Very helpful!
Nice video one thing I really wanted to see how can you setup all the gameplay together(Facecam, voice recording, gameplay recording..etc) on one software can you show us that.
What’s the name of the desk your using in this video??
Is the mic on the A50 just inferior? What is the reasoning for a second microphone if its just for talking to teammates? Is there interference with your commentary mic?
Well this is a lot. XD
All very informative, ESPECIALLY for someone who's in the bracket to put it all to use, but most people here are just starting out with not much.
I wish he made an updated version, now we have new consoles, capture cards etc.
Can you use a Bluetooth Headset? Like Turtle Beach Stealth 600? Or do you need the Digital Optical Cable?
Great video!! What software do you use for your audio and noise gate? And from there, are you running the audio and Elgato to OBS (for Live Streaming)? Thank you.
Adobe audition. And yes elgato in obs
relentless controllers are the Australian version of battle beaver and they are great.. same build quality as battle beaver
I built a dual sli graphics card PC
Like 10 years ago and it's running with windows 10
i think your monitor was actually recalled for not really being 1ms as advertised. i may be wrong tho, but i know it was one of the models around that sound.
Very underrated youtuber keep up the great work man
Wow man!!! I don’t even have the money for the led lights!!!😂😂😂
I thought I'd be the only one watching this rn 😂
why do you need a mic hooded up to your console? i mean i thought the capture card also picked up the game audio
far as the mic setup isn't there away to just use ur headset to communicate in game and have a mic for stream commentary?
Really helpful vid but would love a bit more emotion and enthusiasm in the future
This is on point. Good job on the video
I have the hd60 s+ and its not working am I missing something or is it not compatible with my ps4?
Tbh this video is a budget high quality setup than a budget setup
Can i do the same with the hd60s Plus??? And can i fo this with a Desktop??? And can't I use the Chatlink????
Question. Can you use a USB hub with the PS4 To do this? It only has 2 USB ports and I'm currently using 1 for an audio splitter (I use headphones not speakers) and the other for my racing wheel (I do SIM racing). Need a 3rd for the mic it seems!
Damn you most def helped so much! Can’t wait to start my gaming channel soon 😌
When I hooked up my Elgato my screen on my monitor from the ps4 got supper dark but the video on the Elgato software on my Mac looks fine. Can anyone help? What’s going on
Exactly what I'm looking for.. thanks
I’m using a tv for now until I can afford a monitor. Can I still use the elgato and hook it to my tv for now? Also is it better to build a pc or to use a laptop? I’ve been capturing off my tv and I want better quality.
PC over laptop
Silly question, but if you have the headset with the optical is it still necessary to have the usb Yeti for communication? Thanks
Video of putting it all together
You do not need a great graphics card in your pc if streaming from console, it's the CPU that is doing all the work, so yes, get the best CPU you can afford, if it has integrated graphics then you don't even need a graphics card
he is right. I have adobe after effects, premiere pro, and photoshop for free! Stable and NOT PAYING A SINGLE DIME!
What labtop do you recommend for streaming I'm currently using a macbook and obs but it's to laggy I stream on xbox console
I just need a capture card for 1080p 60fps and im lookin at ryzen 5 1600 and rtx 570
That set up is clean!!!
You literally don’t need any of this higher end stuff if you are just starting. You don’t need the greatest to get it done. You need the know how of what to do with what you’ve got.
Probably the best video on how to use this setup on here lol
Thanks
You poor soul you think he'll personally help you?
@@pestoshrimp7681 Actually got it figured out with ImAverage sniper.
@@sonnyhelms2962 nice man I'm glad
@@sonnyhelms2962 hey if your gonna record both console and pc games you'll need 2 monitors right?
@@pestoshrimp7681 The 2nd monitor comes in handy for other things you are doing in the stream I am not sure about needing two monitors for recording games On both but I will be able to edit videos with pc and I imagine you might could record games or do captures with the console as well not really sure.
I have the same monitor. What settings do you have your monitor on for the PS4? And I can’t find a way to get elmb to work with the PS4 is it just for pc
Can you edit your game recording with just the elgato software? Without using sony vegas or Adobe premiere
I have all of these but the only problem I have is my headset on pick up the sound when it's on the elgato HD. My monitor is throwing the sound instead of my headset
i use an old tv and my ps4 but im saving for a curved screen monitor, gaming chair and desk
Thanks 🙏🏽
