I watched Yesterday, yesterday (very late to it) if there is anyone out there who hasn't watched it I would suggest watching it. It's a beautiful film, great music, and, a fantastic script and actors. It's a wonderful 'feel good film'. It lifted my spirits during a Sunday afternoon during this dire time.
I thought Oasis (i heard somewhere) were one of those bands who were non-believers (of the Beatles as THE greatest) and I thought - I haven't even heard of one Oasis song and they think they were "better" than the Beatles? Same thing with some "metal", "hard rock" bands who sort of thought they were better guitarists or drummers than the Beatles and I would think, I couldn't think of one metal /hard rock drum intro, or guitar riff or solos that I could instantly recognize as theirs but The Beatles had plenty, and still recognizable today, 57 years later.
‘Yesterday’Review. Better than 'Rocketman', not as good as 'BoRhap'. Wednesday 26th June, 2019 Well, the first thing to know is that the trailer is full, chock full of red herrings. The film is better, but not what you are lead to believe by the trailer. The movie is stolen by Kate McKinnon, who is an unknown (on this side of the pond) American, very talented, funny without trying. I do hope to see her in many other parts. I am sure Lily James was paid twice or 10 times what Himesh Patel was paid, and she is perfect in the part, Himesh, a British Indian who appears to have only been in a very popular soap, can sing, act and is self-depreciating. He has great skill with the blank puzzled stare. But the part does not demand much more. He’s better when being a schoolteacher. Ed Sheenan is very good as himself, who knew he could act. LOL. There is not enough music, Beatles or other, for this to be called a musical, and lots of people who go to see it hoping to hear a lot of Beatles songs will be very disappointed. However the story is excellent. It moves forward and never misses a beat. Oh, and the ending is very clever, and not what you might expect.
