Health Insurance - Does Your Plan Cover Sports Injuries?

In today’s video, we’ll answer this question. That being said, there’s no easy answer to the question. As always, whether or not sports injuries are covered will depend on various factors.
Before we recommend a plan, we always seek to understand clients’ needs and requirements. We generally ask them:
0:23 1. Do you play sports for leisure? In most cases, sports injuries from non-dangerous and non-extreme sports are covered. We warn adrenaline junkies that sports that aren’t usually covered include rugby, bungee jumping, skateboarding, and more.
0:57 2. Are you a professional athlete? Are you playing competitively? In other words, is there money involved? If this is the case, then chances are that sport injuries won’t be covered, and you’ll need to get specialized insurance instead.
1:14 Of course, no two plans were created equally. This means that we make sure clients are aware of the exclusion list in their table of benefits, so that they’re clear over what is and isn’t covered. The last thing we want is for them to have a plan that is much more limited than they thought.
