I have a shotgun build which heavily relies on explosive second star and vats headshots and crits, but its incredibly viable

They need to lower the cost of AP for all energy weapons. I'm tired of the handmade, fixer and the railway rifle being the only vats options.
+, the current situation with energy weapons having stupid big recoil and ap cost doesn't make any sense. As if laser pointer would have a shotgun kick to it in real life

@@jamesonburford7400 That still doesn't even make sense because it's still the same weapons, same perk, etc. The mod lowers the AP drain more because power armor is doing part of the work to use and lift it which makes it less physically tiring. It doesn't make the weapon less effective.

so they are aware that its bugged or the are aware and its intentional? If it's intentional then it is now unusable

I know right and the crazy thing is that the railway rifle hasn’t been nerfed at all once I think which is ridiculous which I also know from experience cause I have a character specifically for THAT GUN!!!! And it needs a heavy nerf it legit requires no skill or time consuming to get the build setup whatsoever!!!!
as someone who's been shotgunning from day 1, shotguns don't need much to keep up. maybe a bump to base range for all shotguns + buff to hit% in VATS. with a good gauss shotty and even a half-optimized build there's nothing in the game you'll struggle with (boss dps included). Cold Shoulder also really leveled the playing field for people who don't have a QE DB or good gauss.
They ARE getting a fix, to take care of the bug where your damage drop-off due to range kicks in the instance shot leaves the barrel. Not a buff, but at least it will help eliminate the situations where you shoot something at point blank and it takes zero damage. A further buff would be welcome, though.

And just befor that i decided to roll a few legendary combats and got a vamp CD RS, Bloody inertial and a Gor EX. none of them are uber good but for a total of 5 rolls i was surprised. and they work just fine
Why buff weapons that already murder and everyone uses, they should respec weapons that people don't use to add more to use. I want a single action revolver buff or more mods to weapons that only have like 2 mods
They're pulling a helldivers 2, nerf the guns that everyone uses so that all the weapons are as bad as the ones nobody used

Yeah this seems to be the most obvious answer, spaghetti code causing that -50% to show up again in power armor. Looks like an overall buff to the weapons if the other comment talking about this being a known issue from their discord is true.
Doesn’t melee damage scale with strength? I’d think it’s because He doesn’t have the perks of unyielding giving Him 40+ strength more than a coding error… could be wrong though!

It has more to do with enemy's being sponges and ttk and last time I noticed thos weapons you mentioned are slow.
Bro even well built a lever gun just can not remotely conpete with any of the big 3 and its dumb you have to play a specific couple builds to really help i make it work but hell

Seems like they’re making melee even more useless unless bloodied. Trouble with melee is still public events unless you pull out a cremator/tesla for tagging. Melee kills quick because it’s mostly single target. At this point it’s either bloodied commando or bloodied heavy guns. Make every end game weapon worth while to get some variety in the game
Bloodied is the only end game build it seems. No other prefix goes higher than +50% damage. Maybe I'm wrong

do ytou still get the buff, if you block an attack? Cause ive gone from hitting for 16 per tick to 80 per tick after ive successfully blocked several attacks. Im talking about the damage increase state vs the power attack, plus there is another oe that reduces damage when you sucessfully block an attack. So i have 2 chainsaws that I swap back and forth depending on the situtioan but i usually use the one with the damamge increase on successful attack.
I’ve always been a Melee build & always will be. No matter what Nerfs they through my way.

Question. Did you test the same strength in side of power armor and outside of power armor. You are in unyielding and the would bring your strength to 42. Can you bring it to the same strength in your power armor as well.

Honestly, to me, it looks really like a nerf. However, I noticed that electric dmg animation triggered more on the pts weapon, compared to the one in real game. Additionally, I think before power armour wasn't affecting the dmg output compared to unyielding armour ... and now it looks like there is a difference and a big one.... Thank you for showcasing. Let's wait and see.
It looks like they are just making melee builds pointless. There are only gonna be heavy gunner builds and commandos that are going to be viable
Melee builds are fine people just don't play builds that a couple youtubers don't make videos on.
It's rather hard to play melee in most events when the vats build players delete everything before you can get even halfway there.
Remove vats that will solve the melee build problem

@@GJ-fe3bh Yeah, melee isn't great for tagging enemies in public events. That's just the nature of having ranged weapons mixed with melee though. How would you get past that? I keep a tesla rifle or explosive automatic weapon (with grenadier for larger tagging radius) for tagging enemies if that's what I want to do. Damage isn't even important in that case so you can just use it with your melee build. I use a build where I can use several different weapon types combined with weight saving and it works great for any situation while rarely being overencumbered.
You might also want to do mutated events that necessitate melee weapons in order to kill enemies. They are designed with melee users in mind and they are really fun. Moonshine Jamboree with that mutation is hilarious. They have public events, daily ops and expeditions with that mutation.
I had been saying that for SO long about the auto axe, from that update back when people were talking about when the chainsaw was experiencing issues with fire damage, I noticed my auto axe was seriously under powered from what I was used to. I mentioned it in comments, but, no one else said anything. I used to be able to easily cut through the mirelurk queen, since then I had problems, it too longer & I would have to use a coffee first. I could cut through groups of enemies easily, after that update, I wasn't near as dangerous as fast. I am super interested.
They reworked a weapon possibly nerfing it. But won’t fix the actual bug with the weapon where it struggles to work in VATS. A staple of combat in this franchise is completely unusable and they just like “fuck it nerf it”

Hey Turtle, for my still developing versatile bloodied commando build, should I get a fixer with quad, 50% crit damage, 25% less ap cost, or a fixer with quad, 25% fire rate, 25% less ap cost? Should my commando focus on both stealth and direct combat duality as well?

easy. You get 50%more damage every second shot making it 25%damage per shot. It is more effective in terms of ammo. Another point to consider - servers stability. I never seen stable crits every second shot on 25%fffr fixer/railway ever. Best case is every 3-4 shot and i talk exclusively about 33+ luck + crit consumption perk.

Are you bloodied? One reason may be the loss of your Unyielding +str boost.

@@antares-the-one i did not see the first in PA, maybe i just missed it. The difference on test/live was noticable, but it was low in PA on both compared to the first weapon i thought, so wondered if the damageloss was maybe from loosing str using the second weapon with PA compared to the first

There are so so many terrible prefixes that need to be buffed. Like, why is bloodied the only build for end game? It's so dumb. If I ever get there, I will probably just quit.

It's a stamp weapon, it's your fault if you tried to pay to win
Mirelurks have a natural high energy damage resistance, the chainsaw/auto axe will do more towards those with low energy restriction like behemoth but near nothing to mirelurks, I've noticed this with my epr, anytime I use my B25 epr it takes 5-10 shots to kill a morelurk but I can 2 tap anything else with it as long as it has low energy resistance
So this "buff" of removing more physical dmg for elemental increases dps for things like behemoths with lower energy resistance and TANKS dps for mirelurks or anything with high energy resistances
I've been experimenting a lot with many different types of guns and found this to be true with my own tests, usually using my epr or something plasma as a base point and a fixer/handmade/railway/elders mark as the comparison point for the resistance testing

Well they did a cash grab with the auto axe in the shop for weeks and waited for the sales to slow down before they hit it with the nerf hammer.. i bet you if this came out with the changes before they sold the auto axe in the atom shop they wouldn't have got as much money as they did from it!!
Could you test with or without power armor on the same boss in case there is somethign about the boss resistance?
There's a lot that needs shaking down, so at least they're starting somewhere. Perk/Legendary/Mutation stacking on top of Chems/Teas/Coffee/Food is just bonkers at the moment. As for weapons, well, a general buff to 'common' weapons and a nerf to named weapons would be a start.

Is it worth having a dedicated electricity weapon?
I play my melee builds with science perks and energy mods and yes, it's a boost to damage, but only worth it on certain weapons where the energy damage is high enough to make a difference and you're not fighting something with a high ER.
On the flip side, it also lets me use energy guns when I need to without changing cards. Such as a flying Scorchbeast.

Fix the games server stability, it's literally the only thing that actually requires repairs. Game is fantastic, but it constantly crashes on console.

these newer generation players, for the most part, they are so bad at everything they do. their understanding of the game is 0
I can't imagine they'd want to overall buff automatic melee weapons, which were already quite powerful. From the sound of it, chainsaw is taking a heavy nerf while auto-axe is maybe about the same, but it's just one of those things that will need a lot of testing. I really wish they'd focus re-balancing on improving the vast swath of weapons that should be potent, but aren't. All the weapons gated behind rep, seasons, questing, ect should be made useful, particularly those in weapon classes that don't have much play. Things like the gauss and crusader pistol, glaive, etc should be powered up. There's also several interesting and somewhat uncommon weapons that should be made useful... things like the assaultron head and lever action. Non-automatic melee, pistols, rifleman, and archery are all in dire need of something to use. Shotguns are barely hanging on thanks to Cold Shoulder, but Gauss Shotgun has eaten too many nerfs and could use some love again. Probably the only weapon in dire need of a nerf right now is the railway rifle, but it could also use some love at the same time given how unusable it is outside of VATs... perhaps changes to make it less suitable for VATs (higher AP cost?) and commando (lower fire rate?), while leveraging it more as a rifleman weapon (base damage boost for non-automatic), pared with a dramatic reduction in recoil to make it useful outside of VATs.
As long as they don't touch cremator (except maybe for multi-stacking bug) and Cold Shoulder, I'll be happy enough, as those are my favorites. I used to run around with a Q/25/25 railway, but I've shelved that after getting bored with it and wanting to avoid relying on it too much... it's standing so tall a nerf seems inevitable, but then again, we had OP legacies for years before anything was done about it. Railway isn't egregious anyway compared to the kind of OP super weapons we've had available at most stages of the game (early TSE shotguns, legacies, magic weapons, NW weapons leaking into main, hacked weapons on PC, etc). This really would be a better time for Bethesda to tackle underpowered weapons, as there's nothing breaking the game right now.
Of course, in the history of game development, it's extremely rare to have a dev that's willing to lift up underpowered mechanics. We're almost always stuck with whack-a-mole where the devs just stomp down whatever people like until things get bland and and eventually either the game dies or some new OP mechanics are introduced to start the whole cycle over again.
How can you say theres nothing breaking the game rn when you can equip a cremator completely unclassed and one shot every enemy in an expo? And auto mele weapons kill every enemy but mini bosses in one touch.. i agree with a lot of your points but i have to disagree with you there.
I agree with you for the most part but tbh cremator needs a fix, its getting impossible to do events with everyone running around with cremators. if you are not using one its incredibly hard to even tag an enemy before they die unless you yourself are using a cremator and omg the explosion effect is making it unplayable Im getting to the point where i might just give up on my auto-melee build because of this dam gun.
Fr cremator needs a nerf too, I used to be a cremator user until I realized I was killing everything before anyone had a chance to tag. Now I use Tesla Rifle with Grenadier Perk in events like Radiation Rumble.
I still carry it around for when I get overrun with Wendigos in Colossal Problem Event for example.

You're clearly very bias. Cremator is the most broken weapon in the game, of course it needs rebalancing.
You say automatic melee are already really good, but you have to run in melee range to hit. You can't hit the majority of the mobs in events before they're killed, there has to be a very big upside to using automatic melee, and the fact that 1 in 20 people you see have melee weapons says how horrible quality of life it is to use them.
Melee build player that was saving stamps to purchase auto axe. Not so sure its worth it if it moves this direction
The damage difference would not because of unyelding armor, who gives more strenght out the PA, and that made the physical damage higher? Or they could have changed the damage formula, besides the overall numbers nerf
he tested in PA for the queen both times, first one is the live one she dies in 1/4 the time it took on PTS

To be honest, I just want them to buff Non-VATS builds without having to rely food buffs. The Hitman perk which they have buffed before is still useless compared to other legendary rolls. I want to actually aim instead of letting the game do it for me. VATs builds are so damn good, even without food buffs they simply outperform a Non-VATs build.
Maybe add a new perk that can add Crits outside of VATs to suit Non-VATS playstyle? Or buff/rework skills that could help Non-VATs builds. This is one of the reasons why I prefer 4 over 76.
Note: I have played this game for 488 hours (Steam Hour Record) and Level 531, Bloodied and Full Health Build (Commando, Shotgun and Gunslinger) and regardless, VATs still reign supreme due to literally aimbot and crits. I don't ask for VATs nerf, I just want them to buff actual aiming. lmao

Buff or nerf, it seems pretty close either way. Ticket to Revenge is going to have 90% of people in the game playing Commando. I’ll be shocked if it doesn’t get nerfed, but if it remains as is, every other weapon - particularly melee weapons - will need a massive buff to be competitive.

Need to buff energy weapon AP, sub machinegun AP, and add a new high powered 308 auto and semi auto rifle!
lets be real the MG42 needs a real buff too, laughable that a machinegun spitting 308 does no damage, prefferrably it should havbe more ammo out the gate too
That always irked me too, totally underutilized along with many weapons. Or release the R91 as a new rifle and not a (unreleased) skin, that’s what I’m really hoping for.

It depends on what level you are, how far into the game you are on and what build you are really.
Lets say a lower level is building everything towards a specific build only to have it nerfed into the dirt from random "rebalancing". They will have to start from scratch and likely feel very impacted. Although it doesnt take long to level up, say that to someone who lacks what you have.
Its not like i see everyone running railway though, if anything see an insane amount of cremator explosion and eye cancer, so Im not sure what these actual idiots think they are addressing.
Honestly the approach, when they rarely bothered in the past, and yet leave monsterous things they need to address, unaddressed. This is the core issue.
They are a studio that keeps churning content sure, but have zero skills with addressing QoL or optimization issues. (Or audio issues, its fun having to restart the game just because I decided I wanted to plug in headphones.).
They have done a TON of QoL additions to the game. Area looting being one. They also added the ability to change your perk load outs and save them. Another is making expeditions easy to start rather than doing the Whitespring Refuge quest every time. If you are going to criticize, at least be accurate.

On PTS, Buff out of power armor, big nerf in power armor. May I suggest recording a clip on the live server now with your stopwatch running, then do the same after the actual update and give us a comparison vid then.
Yeah, that that one makes sense. The chainsaw one makes sense because that literally just doubles the damage of the gun. I mean of the chainsaw and makes every other mod for the chainsaw useless there’s no point in any of the other mods I don’t know if reducing it by half is going to be enough to make those other mods useful but right now I don’t care what what automatic weapon you like the chainsaw the dual blade with the flame mod out damages every other automatic weapon. There are certain use cases for some of the other mods like if you’re killing players and you’re not in strangler heart using the poison but honestly because they can’t resist that either to my knowledge unless they fix that electric damage on the auto damage there’s no resistance players can’t resistant They still have damage. Mitigation noted mitigation damage mitigation resistance don’t mean shit energy doesn’t resist electric damage from the saw from the auto wax fire resistance, resist fire damage poison resistance will resist the poison of the auto mod but the electric one to my knowledge can’t be resisted by anything. It’s just not high enough damage and it’s not, reducing the chainsaw by 50% dual blade mod by 50% might make using the low the short or the Boulevard or the long Boulevard options right they might become options and I’m OK with that because the weapon is way too overpowered on sizer and that’s all you need to run around and chainsaw the shit out of everything
All they gotta do is give turtle the keys to the balance castle and we’ll have a happy fanbase.
If you were around to listen to Angry Turtle when the devs scrapped the idea of unyielding power armor, you wouldn't say that. If you left it up to him, there would basically be nothing but power armor users in the game.

They need to give the keys to someone that understands this is a PVE game and more damage from weapons just means less XP for everyone.

@@SecretlySeven Less damage just means even more bullet sponges. That's the exact opposite of what Fallout needs. If people wan XP, there's West Tek. Waiting around for the right XP-friendly event to show up is a waste of time.
These make no sense. The only time I use the auto is during mutated events when killing by melee is required. So, none of what they are doing here affects me. The union power armor no being collectable is a bigger issue that anything the devs are currently working on. I am tired of losing drop rewards because they refuse to implement a fix.

I prefer melee so I don't need to worry about ammo. I've been unarmed for 4-5 years. I run a low health unyeiding build with vampires gauntlet with electric mod. It's very poweful.

So the only weapons I have good rolls for legendaries are getting a nerf for my playstyle...cool. not like the railway rifle is way better. Also got to give up range for it but suuuure nerf it.... *sigh*
Bethesda says you WILL max out at 20% HP wearing no power armor and you WILL love it or you just don't get to play.

I think the devs are thinking, okay if you do melee then ranged players may tag or keel enemies before the melee, so lets give melee a dmg buff 💪 but they still have to compete to touch the targets while any ranged just sit there and shoot
What program do you use to run 2 steam accounts on a single pc?
One is the normal game. The other is on the test server. The test server is only on pc and has a separate launcher from the main game so you can, if you want, have both running at the same time.
I just rolled a vampires 40% power 1 strength auto axe the other day. I don’t wear power armor so hopefully it’s still OK.
Do the energy cards now work with the electric mods?
For auto axe I can say they have been working great the last two seasons

Must be some function of high STR making them look equal. Should have tried queens outside of PA on both. With Vamp, shouldn't be a huge deal and could see damage rate then.
When you used it against the Behemoth I was happy because it looked like a buff, but against the Mirelurk Queen in PA it was a major nerf. I am confused hopefully this gets ironed out before deployment to production.

I cant wait for that sweet new railway rifle unique legendary though. playing commando is really difficult and it needed a super powerful unique thats easy to get. Hopefully we get a buff to the railway rifle too, its just SO difficult playing the game as a stealth bloodied commando.
I just want the clunky Chainsaw and Auto Axe to function as well as the 1h Autos do~ such as not stopping when you jump or hit a bump. QoL is more of a concern. The Drill is so much more fun cuz of how clean it functions, VATS included~ which you can even use while jumping. But sadly the damage is really low (and skins are never added for it). I rather Drill and Ripper got dmg buffs.
Also Pistols and Shotguns are still shit.
I was really hoping to see the Shishkabab get a buff. It's my favorite melee weapon in the Fallout series and it needs more love.
