I grew up right behind Allen’s in the 1960’s. My mother sent me over there after church every week to get lunch. We took home a plate of fried chicken, potato salad, pinto beans and creamed corn for 5 people for 5 dollars! Many good memories at that place!
Right behind Allen's, there's a train track that runs through. I was raised on the street just the other side of that train track. However, back in the 1960's, we didn't go out to eat, much, so I was only able to eat at Allen's a time or two, and I left Sweetwater back in 1975. But I STILL remember how great the food was. Billy's grandmother, Mrs. Allen, was still cooking, then. It still makes my mouth water, just to THINK about how great the food was. Sound like it still is.
That what Texas is all about. People carrying on traditions that where passed down from the one who got it right. Love it, keep on makin people happy and God will take care of the rest. God bless Texas
I love the fact of sitting people next to each other. its a cool take on normal cafes/restaurants
You hope those people Emilio have a good deodorant on
I’m from Midland and have made several stops at Allen’s!!! Delicious food, friendly atmosphere.
O.M.G. When they started listing all the kinds of food thy serve and seeing the amount served my mouth started to salivate and i had flashbacks of my childhood .I'm thinkin I need to move there.
It’s the best way to go home ,home cooking from a family who know who to cook, and gave it that feeling like you’re eating at home.
This reminds me of the Bridge Cafe in Hannibal, MO. I used to eat my lunch there and it only cost $1.25 for a full, home-cooked meal. The cafe is gone but the memories remain.
I hope Covid didn't hurt them. It sounds like an amazing place to eat. Family Style , love it.
@joe rivas they are talking about last year genius.
@@epsteindidntkillhimself2239 👏😂

Who f**king cares about Epstein, he was a child molester. And what the f**k does he have to do with Texas or fried chicken?
Next time I get to TX I need to find some of these places!
Reminds me of the Pickett House in Woodville, Texas ❤
Thats how we eat here in El Salvador.. wee sit down at the table with people we don"t know. And yet its great
Need to take a road trip to Sweetwater!!
Our football team used to eat there, after a game. This was in 1964.
I'm bringing my family to dinner. Texas, I tell my daughter it has more to offer if you would travel here. We just visited seven states, some beautiful, some, not so. But we also came home thru Texas this morning from el paso. . I wish I had seen this, we would still be on the road home to dickinson tx. We are going out for dinner next trip. I'm sending this to her and momma right now.
Looks like a fun place. Price is now $11.50 - still a deal. I’d just tip very well.
Beautiful people and place
I just love this
This is the kind of place I would love to own. I love to cook but hate working in restaurants.
Family style I like it!
I love this style of eating. Yay Texas!
Love it!
What an awesome idea ❤😊✝️🕊🙏🏼❤️
Love this wonderful
That surely is a fine FEED!!! Nothin even close to that in Southern Illinois,.......... that I no of that is!
I will have to change my statement! There is some food like this in Southern Illinois, cept sometime I like to eat others cookin! I was taught by Grandma and Mom! They are both gone now so I cook like they did! And to do it right, like these folks, "And I try to do" it is alot of work, but oh so good!
good food is always the great equalizer
I suggest that you try the Pickett house in woodville Texas. Family style like this with a twist
Allen's could not compete with Ma Browns in Abilene. Everything was fresh and homemade. Fresh baked rolls and homemade jellys. I miss that place so much.
I really like Sweetwater, TX.
That's the way to eat out!
Nice, very nice. 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
I'm from a small town Borger TX there's a BBQ place there serves bbq same way family style potato salad, coleslaw, beans ,toast three meats sausage, ribs. Brisket or pork strips and onion rings all you can eat 45 miles NE of Amarillo Old Sutphens is the name

Man that's affordable! Hope the tips are big!
That food looks amazing and made with love. But I love the fact they sit strangers together to eat for $9! Best way for the world to get to know each other. Hope they are doing well I'd love to visit someday.
wait...i really want one of these restaurants in my city
Best deal planet earth
Not bad at all for a 9$ bill
I hadn’t been there since the 70s
I'll always told if it's not broken don't fix it
My late husband grew up in Sweetwater. He and his family had always gone to the back door just to pick up fried chicken. Once on our way from Dallas to Lubbock I insisted that we go in and have a respectable meal (hard to eat fried chicken in the car). Of course he belly ached about it but I wasn't taking no for an answer. Once was all it took! From then on whenever we went out that way we planned our departure time to hit Sweetwater at lunch. But he still always took some fried chicken to go.
👍👍
This makes me want to move back home to texas.
Thats one hell of a deal
I live in Hawai’i, this is normal where I’m from….but it’s cool to see people break bread like we do.
We need more of this not cancel culture.
Who's cancelling the restaurant
Put this comment in the dictionary next to the definition of non-sequitur.
Point the way Boss
Maybe he will change the lights to LEDs
Hope it's not closed because of the virus.
$9 a plate? Wow
Born and breaded lol
How in the world do these "reporters" stay under 325 pounds??? 🤠

I'd pay $25..
Bet it isn't $9 anymore 🤔
It's 11, and still andang good deal.
