The original prototype had storage space in the sail pillars akin to a service body. I agree that this should have been handled better, but perhaps they felt the added expense was not worth it at this time.
The front trunk should be large enough for some tool boxes or a few small pieces of luggage. However, the reason the Ford F150 Lightning has so much room is because they kept the truck body they already had but didn't need this space for an engine. It makes much more sense to give up some room in front in order to gain more space in the bed. Of course they still need _some_ space in front in order to have a crumple zone.
That’s key, they cut corners a lot to save money and the front upper control arms are a perfect example.
Also, don’t forget. The prototype had a tailgate that could also convert to a ramp. They had the cyber quad get loaded on it for the launch.
But I get it man, but if you have not seen it in person, the gap from the front of the truck to the driver is massive. There should be more space in the front trunk. Most of the internals like AC and all that is straight from the models X and Y. Lots of parts shared and those are way more efficient with the space in front of the driver.

For a company's very first generation of a truck, I think it's good.
Normally I would agree. But when you look at the Rivian or the badger, or a number of other first EV type trucks, this is a HUGE miss.
Also, when the S or even the 3 came out, they dominated their segments. They were far better in just about every way than their ICE counterparts. The cybertruck is not that. It’s unique for sure. But the upper control arm shows you the lack of attention that was paid to this truck. Not even the S or the much cheaper 3 has such weak upper control arms that may not even last after a single pothole.

"Boat mode" might be the saving grace of this truck, if that pans out.
They will still sell a truck load of cts as is thought. Hopefully, the CT version 2 will have all these flaws fixed.
Let’s hope so. Because the powertrain is killer on the truck. It’s just everything else

That _seriously_ undermines your credibility. They haven't even demonstrated a prototype, much less entered production.
I saw the running prototype on heavy Ds channel. That did not make it to production yet, but still a more usable truck than the cybertruck 🤷♂️
When I first saw HeavyD’s pic of the folded UCA I could not believe Tesla would actually use that pathetic of a part.
My first initial thought of the CT was, like you said, a status vehicle. I think they are cool to see on the road here and there but personally wouldn’t have any desire to purchase one.
Now with that being said, I did just watch 3 of them do some light off-roading in Glamis and I must say they were cruising along pretty well…. But like I said it was an easy trail. They were cruising about 40 mph most of the time while braking for larger whoops (which was obviously expected). Overall I thought they were doing pretty well, now to say as to what kind of battery range they were using to do that in soft sand, and how long they would last before parts failed… only time will tell.

Yeah I think fails of that upper control arm are going to be common. Stamped steel in such a critical location is just not advisable. The powertrain has plenty of power to have fun on the trails. Specially on sand. But if they hit anything, even at slow speeds, that front suspension is collapsing. Blown away this was allowed. Even the lighter model 3s have beefier upper control arms
I agree and appreciate your insight on the CT, looks over engineered were it doesn't need it and under engineered were it is really needed. I am hoping Canoo can bring their truck to production.

I think you are unfairly critical of the Cybertruck. It was never meant to be the ultimate in off-road vehicle, but still offers considerable off-road capability, short of a rock crawling modified jeep. Wasted space? The bed or vault provides 50 cf of secure, weatherproof storage plus another 35 cf behind the front seat and 7 cf in the frunk. That's over 90 cf of protected storage space in a truck shorter than an F-150. The ride quality, maneuverability, and silent power rivals that of a Model X. The air suspension has 12" of vertical adjustment from an easy entry height to 17.44" of ground clearance, more than most 4-wheelers, and no differential to get hung up on. Traction control with locking differentials will make off-roading better than most stock 4 x 4 pickups. And I haven't even mentioned performance. Your complaints seem trivial in comparison to the many features and capabilities of this truck. You don't even acknowledge the durability factor of the 1.8mm stainless steel exterior, only pointing out the sharp edges which will "cut you". Nonsense. Oh, and many of us owners think it beautifully futuristic, unlike the century old, busy appearance of every other pickup out there. Sorry, but I have to give you a thumbs down on this review.

Yes, a regular truck with a bed cover with have similar storage. The suspension can collapse on a POTHOLE it’s so weak.
But you are on point. It rivals the model X. A street focused SUV. Not a truck.
And the clearance you stated does not matter. Because it only has the clearance at the top height. Raptors have more than that and have better departure angles. And that truck can use all that offroad.
Now I ageee with you the powertrain has more potential. But right now, TODAY, it can’t lock the differentials and it has super weak suspension for the road. That front arm is important and it takes all of its capability away.
To me the CT had to be better than any other truck on the market. And it’s not. Truck guys will see that instantly. Fan boys won’t.
I’m a big fan of Tesla. And I’ve been very disappointed. You may be happy with it. But I’m coming at it from a very different place than you are. I want an off-road toy that will rival my raptor. That’s why guys watch my channel. This is not that and as a truck, it’s a big miss. The Rivian is far better
Now you mentions the “durability of the stainless” that’s literally the trucks worst feature. The stainless panels and the gigacast supporting it is going to make them a nighmare to repair. I would also argue that with traditional panels it could be a might lighter and more efficient truck. I don’t a lot of off-roading and get tons of pin stripes and damage on body panels. Even though the stainless has good impact resistant, it can still get scratched and it will rust. And if you get into an accident you can see small damage completely total the truck. So the insurance costs are going to be nuts. So yeah man. You pointed out one of its worse features

There are arguments against everything you've just written. The most obvious fallacy is that the SS will rust. Cybertruck is going to eat into conventional truck sales in a big way. @@KeepItDirtyOffRoad Every truck has it strengths and weaknesses. No truck is all-around better than another truck. I'm not a truck guy, your right. I'm a truck girl though. I don't need, nor would I want a Raptor. It's a vehicle that appeals to some for the purposes it does well. But it falls short in many other ways. I will be doing off-roading with my Cybertruck. Not the kind you do, but plenty of scenic back country camping on some fairly rugged trails. I don't need a 35 deg departure angle for where I plan to go, and I don't need the Rivian's tiny bed. I hope that I meet you on the trail out west one day. Most off-roaders are friendly, helpful, and respectful as I'm sure you are.
@@MsAjax409SS rusting isn’t controversial. All steel rusts. Some are more resistant than others. That’s not speculation.
It’s interesting the amount of people emotionally invested in defending the CT. It would be healthier to accept the obvious design flaws and force Teslas hand sooner into building better solutions or scrapping it all together in order to create a more functional and usable round 2.
This 'Cruck' is just a childhood dream of Elon's and the shock factor is what will sell these to non-tuck Tesla rich peeps. Quality control has always been an issue, but this truck, if continued, will improve for street use.
Yeah, this is more of a street truck for sure. Tesla has dumped a ton of resources into it and really put the companies bottom line at risk to make it. So I’m really perplexed by a lot of the design choices they have made

🤣 I think eventually you will. But for now it will be tame stuff until the aftermarket can catch up a little bit and offer some upgrades.

I appreciate smart technology and great tools that help get the job done. I also think these electric platforms are good and have their place. But, I also felt let down by the final product and Tesla's many other broken promises. I remarked to a buddy a week ago, that the Cybertruck truck, like the other Tesla models, seemed to be designed by tech geeks that were influenced by crappy video games. Not real guys that get outside and put their trucks through real-world situations, or actually used them for real work and demand no compromises!
Would have to agree and I feel the same way. My expectations were high for this. Specially when you see the competition. The only good feature of this truck is the powertrain. None of the others manufacturers come close. But the rest is just a let down

Watch my video on the Ford switchgear or even one on the TRX. My opinions are rooted in off-roading in the deserts in the southwest. Any proper truck guy and offroad guy will have the same complaints I do. Car guys will never understand.

the CYBERTRUCK is not built to be a dedicated offroad rig, so, it is what it is. As to the front upper control arm, that design is like that because of small offset frontal collision crash safety.
So you’re saying Tesla designed the front end to collapse on purpose?
If so, why is this the only Tesla with this design. All other vehicles they have have cast upper control arms. Decent strength. This is the first pressed steel control arms. Hit the right pothole and it’s going to collapse
@@KeepItDirtyOffRoad they designed the front suspension to collapse in a particular fashion when overloaded, ie collision, to protect the occupants. It's not designed to do what you're asking it to do.
This is not a thing. If they did I feel sorry for owners.
Typical manufacturing design includes crumple zones and stuff like that. For example every truck had a bend in the frame that in an accident the frame bends and tucks the engine downward so that it does not protrude into the cab. No one and I mean NO ONE designs a suspension to collapse. They design the frame behind it to collapse in a specific way with a ton of force. Never the suspension itself.
IF thats how the cyber truck was designed, it’s going to be a seriously flawed design. Because that arm is going to bend on pot holes, curbs, or when hitting something on the road. That’s is a very flawed design.
Nice review. I have not seen a Cybertruck yet here in St Louis. There are a lot of Rivian R1T's here. From watching your video, it seems like the Rivian is the better EV Truck over the Cybertruck. A side from that, I think what you are talking about is correct. The Cybertruck was not designed by Truck guys. When you think about what Ford did with the Demo Truck Switchgear, that's more like what you are looking for. It has the Off Road suspension etc. While I don't see Ford producing the Switchgear for Production anytime soon, that would sell more to the off road crowd than Cybertruck. For me, I just know that nothing in the EV market at this point interests me. I think Hybrid Technology would be better anyways.
Would have to agree. Even the Rivian that is super interesting to me and is more usable than the cyber truck is not an a good option because of the air suspension and they don’t have native access to Tesla Superchargers for long distance reliable trips.
One company is listening though. Rams next EV truck is going to have a v6 up front working as a generator. That could be a cool compromise while battery tech takes a few years to catch up. Right now it’s just their regular trucks. But hoping for a TRX hybrid version myself.
I wonder how hot that interior gets with that massive windshield? Esp in AZ, CA, NV when it gets 110 degrees plus in the summer.

Me too man. I want to take one of these through its paces, progressively of course to make sure we don’t destroy it. But I very much doubt any cyber truck owner will risk it.

It was designed to be "ugly". Instead of aero dynamic they went for looks. This is a driving bill board and do not even need a badge to say what it is. Honestly the firs impression of the upper control arms in front is not good, but if you think of what their job is they are actually quite adequate. They are there just to keep the wheel upright and they take nearly no sideway stress, except if you mount something like tank tracks on the outside of the vehicle. The most stress they experience is most probably with braking and accelerating. Most cars have a rubber mounting on top of the strut doing the job, so not much stress in that area.
Yeah, it’s the best billboard for Tesla yet.
But your way off on the arms. Upper control arms take a lot of stress. On a truck, upper control arms take a massive amount of load and are always cast steel arms. You look at any other Tesla made car even, they only use cast upper control arms.
On trucks that offroad, the most common suspension failure point is the upper and lower control arm ball joints. And yes this was designed to be an off-road truck because of the extra ground clearance and 35in tires. Tesla even advertises it as a go anywhere truck.
Aftermarket I know will fix it. But it’s perplexing why they would put such a weak arm in it. Because it will bend under stress. Wider tank tracks on tame trails bent the first one. All it will take it the right pothole for that upper arm to bend on the road. And we’ve already seen rear suspension failure on very tame donuts at King of Hammers a few weeks back on a fully stock truck. 🤷♂️
It's just like a majority of other trucks. You can't compare it to a Raptor. It sucks, but range would went from not good to effing terrible. There were tradeoffs. I think battery tech needs to improve to the point were a CT like this would get 750 miles. Then they can build a Raptor competitor that gets 500
Would have to disagree a bit here. Tesla built it with 35s and showed in Baja before launch. That puts it in direct competition with the Raptor and the TRX.
Now I agree battery tech needs to improve. We need the ability to hold more of a charge with less weight. The Hummer battery for example is a joke increasing the trucks weight to 9k lbs. the CT at least kept her lite at 6600 lbs. but to me the range and power is not as much of a drawback. You’re not towing with an EV truck and the current range is OK. Not great but usable with the supercharger network. My concern is they cut cost so much they put sub par components on it and it’s not better than a standard truck. I should be considering the price and inconvenience of changing.
Had one for 24 hrs. Hated it. Made it clear Tesla has no off-roading engineers or staff within its development team.
Yeah, it’s like they used nothing but car parts to build this “truck”. It was so validating seeing the HeavyD video. Suspension failed 3 times on take stuff. Basically have to replace the whole suspension if you plan to do anything serious.
@@KeepItDirtyOffRoad I love the model 3 and S, and was so excited to have a Cybertruck for a day! What a disappointment! I gave my real world review on the cybertruck forum, and got banned. You're not allowed to say the obvious: The Cybertruck wasn't engineered to be an off-roading machine. Or an everyday machine. The sound system isn't that good, the steering is WAY too small, and the whole truck feels "cheap". Coming from a Hummer EV and Gladiator Rubicon, the Cybertruck is a joke - but you're not allowed to say that out there.

Im thinking about the weight of this thing. And i'm looking at the upper Control arms.. Something isn't adding up. I'm almost sure they are using the same parts from the cars
Truck weights 6600 lbs. so it’s relatively light for its size. But if you do a search for Tesla upper control arms on any other Tesla model, you will find that all of their other models use more stout and thick cast uppers. This is the first one with stamped steel. It makes no sense

The model S and the Model D have a similar design. It puts the leverage closer to the center of the wheel improving performance. It’s not a new design.
Since the tire and arms move together it won’t stab the tires. BUT the tires do deform and expand at high speed or when aired down and at speed . That’s when you risk contact.
Great review. I own a 2013 Raptor with Fiberwerx fenders and 37 inch bfg’s. I placed an order for the Cybertruck and I have been waiting for a real review from a serious off road enthusiast. They should have made the space behind the rear window come down like a normal bed. Would have looked much less triangle like from the side. Also how about a quick release for the hideous front windshield wiper? Take the thing off if you don’t live in a place where it rains all the time.
The roll up bed cover took a lot of space in the bed I think and that’s why the rear window has no slide option. As for the wiper, that thing is a joke. Not sure there is any fix for it short of a new windshield design
i dont think the cybertruck is meant for people who are already truck guys, is meant for the vegan guy that drives a prius and wants to feel accepted by truck community
🤣🤣 there may be some truth there for sure. But the way Tesla has advertised the trucks it’s a good anywhere do anything better vehicle. Car and Prius people will be impressed because they don’t know any better. Truck guys are not.
Those tie rods are tiny, Yikes!! 😵💫😳. Hopefully Tesla re-engineers these (among other things) 🤔. The Rivian R1S and R1T are better suited for off road IMO. Looking forward to the Ford Switchgear in production (a Lightning w/a Raptor package) 🤔.
Hope so too. But I get the impressions cost cuttting won here. Tesla wants maximum profits these first couple of years to pay for 4 years of development costs
How a normal size person supposed to climb easily in the bead they did not intergrade something similar to what ford had on the F150 tailgate.

Not to me. A raptor is a ton more fun that any of them. You’re in comfort and can go just about anywhere with no restrictions. UTV and and ATVs are restricted to just offroad parks for the most part

🤦♂️🤦♂️ wow, did not even think of that. I’ve seen the clips that heavy D posted on the sand and the back end of getting overwhelmed with the shock setup they put into it. He said they are working on “long travel” for it but they mainly build lift kit, not prerunner suspension so it should be interested to see what they do with it.

I have. It’s a decent suspension. Only drawback is that it’s air suspension. But that’s it. Arms and all that look decent on the Rivian and why so many do offroad them.
CT breaking just doing donuts and mild stuff.
Just a big’o paper weight. Like you said made for car guys and not truck guys. The market audience would us it for on road driving and never think about taking it offroad. Aerostar vibes if you ask me.

Will you be able to actually test one on the same washes and speed that you run your Raptor on? I look forward to your future honest real word test and review at that time. Thanks! BTW, I imagine upgrading the control arm would be relatively easy for after market companies if it's actually necessary with the stock setup. Since you are basing your comments on an extremely small sample size, one HEAVILY modded with snow tracks, it might actually take quite a beating in it's stock setup before actually "needing" the upgrade to perform at a relatively advanced level. We'll hopefully be able to see if your upcoming trail test proves out my theory or not.
If I can, or someone lets me, I will take one out and test it like we do the raptors. But changing the arms is not so easy. heavy D has already shown that they also had to reinforce the structure behind the arm. Not only did the arm bend, but so did the casting it mounted to. They had to build a whole structure for it.
Now everyone is complaining that it was wide tracks that put extra leverage that caused the issue. For the most part tracks would move the suspension less and of the videos he has shown he was mainly on flat snow.
That front upper control arm is so weak, I would not be surprised if they fail on a simple pothole

There seems to be a number of SoCal youtubers with CTs now so maybe someone will let you run their truck through one of your trails and see how much fun you can have before something gives. :) We're all still waiting for a real test and you seem like the right guy to have behind the wheel! 💪

Yes it is!! Aftermarket tires are going to have a ton of issues.

Tesla does have a better process to fix things. But they are really bad at changing designs from the core solution. So I could see the arms getting updates. But I don’t see the trunk getting bigger or more storage added until the next generation like we saw with the S and the 3
Software updates cannot fix bad design choices, like using a cast aluminum unibody to build a truck.

Giga casting is pretty revolutionary from a manufacturer standpoint. Reduces their cost. But as model3 and Y owners are finding, it’s not so great from a consumer standpoint. Cars are getting huge repair bills for crash damage and small fenders benders or totaling cars due to teslas cost savings. So that’s why some see it as bad design. Tesla needs to provide better guidance and training for fixing these large castings.
@@Hugo-py2ce Any design choice that reduces durability, especially in a truck, is a bad design choice. People act as if Tesla invented die casting. Other car companies tried die casting structural components in the past, then went back the old way, precisely because of durability issues. The only thing new with Tesla is the size of the castings.
Lets be honest. This is not really a truck in the traditional sense of the word. Its a vanity truck with very little if any utility to actually be a truck. Sure you can "tow" for a few minutes. And you can put a few bags of dirt in the bed. But thats about it. Offroad is not what this is for. Its for the hipster tesla fanboy to say hes got a truck but hes still cool pulling up to his local starbucks. These are for show only really.

You must be the one person that think people spend $100K on ICE or EV trucks to haul dirty! Most people rent Home Depot trucks or use 5 year old trucks to do “truck stuffs”, FYI.
🤣🤣 you should go look at truck prices these days. Ain’t no one getting a truck for under $60k these days. They average around 90-115k these days. Tow rigs can even go for much higher.
People are definitely spending $100k on trucks and doing truck stuff. Regardless if it’s an EV or not. That’s why the CT is a big fail in my eyes
@@KeepItDirtyOffRoad Based on research, 80% of truck owners tow or go off roading once a year! That’s Tesla’s potential customers. Truck owners are loyal and no one will bat an eye if Cybertruck like a normal truck. Tesla saved $300 million + not have a paint shop. The 48 V architecture, which enable steer by wire saved 30-40 lbs of copper wire from any other vehicle. The stainless steel panel saved millions on molds and robots for Tesla. The giga castings reduced over 160 parts. Cybertruck is a success for Tesla long term, because it reduce costs. Everyone will have to build their trucks like Cybertruck to compete, especially Rivian as they’re losing $30K per vehicle they sell.

Now while I agree with you that Tesla margins are really good on the cybertruck. Cost cutting is not always to the benefit of the consumer. Weak control arms = fails on the road. Giga casting = costly repairs to owners and the truck will be more likely to be totaled increasing insurance costs. Already seen insurance cost rise sharply on model3s. The insurance on my son’s model 3 is more than on my truck. Double actually. And it’s worth less than half.
Tesla is saving a ton of money in making these trucks. But they are passing off a lot of issues to owners that’s going to increase their costs substantially.
No paint means the panels are going to corrode and require a ton of maintenance to prevent it. And all that cost savings should have been put to improving the design. Stronger suspension components, more usable storage. Because the one time a year they go use this as a truck, they are going to find out how useless it is. For the rest of us that use our trucks like trucks and offroad, we know better. And we’re hoping for more based on how the truck was advertised.

🤣🤣 that’s hilarious. A perfect example of a good 1st gen truck is the Rivian. In just about every aspect (except for changing) it’s better than the CT and most other trucks on the market.
Tesla has a massive lead in EVs and they could have made something so much better. But they didn’t and it’s clear there is a ton of corner cut here because of the challenges they had being it to production. The ford lighting is a way better truck than this in terms of usability. Same with the Rivian. The storage tunnel, storage up front, and even the interior of it is better than the CT.

90% of truck owners don't take their trucks off road to just tear them up doing stupid stuff with a $100k truck,. just to make videos and get likes on UA-cam. While the rest of us are still waiting for our pre-orders. that take good care of our trucks as a normal person would.

Normally I would agree with you. But not in this case. If the cyber truck is as a normal truck it would have come with street tires. Like say the F150 or a Ram 1500. But it doesn’t. It’s got 35in all terrain offroad tires so that puts it in the same class as the Raptor and the TRX that are prices the same. Those are offroad trucks that are designed for off-roading. Tesla was very deliberate with putting offroad tires on the CT to align with their marketing : go anywhere. That’s why they can also charge a premium for it.
But right now a lightning raptor with street tires is more capable and usable. And the cybertruck, well they keep breaking when folks take them offroad.
Now I know not everyone that has a raptor will offroad the truck, and the same will be true of the cybertruck. But plenty of people taking expensive rigs offroad AND also taking care of them. I do. I got more into my truck and the cybertruck is worth and enjoy it. That’s how I enjoy my offroad truck. To its full as designed potential.
But the CT is kind of a joke right now in its current form. Sure it stands out and the performance is there. But the utility and the suspension is severely lacking. Aftermarket will eventually solve it sure. But right now, the reaction from truck guys is what the hell was Tesla thinking.
And let’s not kid our selfs with taking care of the truck. A normal person won’t be able to keep this truck pristine because of what it takes to keep stainless clean.
When I get my Beast CyberTruck those stupid ass all terrain tires and that stupid hub cap will be replaced right away with T-Sportline wheels and a good set of performance tires. Sell them to you as you would have yours all tore up by then, half price. And I plan to wrap the stainless.@@KeepItDirtyOffRoad

It won’t take much force for those upper control arms to bend with the stock tires. All it takes is the right wash or the right curb for them to bend. A solid control arm like those on the S, X, 3, or Y are not as vulnerable to bending.
There is a ton of wasted space. Also: it has a full size bed with the dimensions of a Chevy Colorado
Do you not know that the beds of all these trucks are designed to fit a 4x8 sheet of plywood? That’s the standard used to design a truck bed in America. And mid size trucks can fit them too. But the Tesla is technically classified as a full size. But when compared to a full size, this is the smallest bed in the segment. Look it up.

I don't think it's really ugly. I'm used to it and to me it looks plain really. Not much design to it. Very flat literally. I think it has a lot of cost savings built in cause it's teslas plan to make affordable vehicles. It's only expensive now because it's still early in production and it takes numbers to reduce that cost per unit. Eventually they might have that $40k starting price.
I’m sure development costs are in there and why it’s so expensive right now. But I think for the CT to really gain market share, it needed to be better than ICR trucks. Right now this will only take market share from other EVs. Which is a bad for Tesla. They need the cybertruck to be a HUGE success to account for its development delays and other projects that got placed on hold.
You made a lot of good points in the video. The price getting lower over time will help with demand but cyber trick needs a lot of improvements to have better features compared to other trucks. The wasted space and the lack of rear seat headroom. Lots of disappointing things.

Haha Tesla engineers already replied to this same complaint and they said anybody who says the upper control arms is small have no idea about suspension engineering. So I suspect non of you are suspension engineers. If this design is a problem for you. You can always buy a Raptor and call it a day. But Tesla will sell every single one of these for years to come. Most trucks America are not used for offroading. Why build a truck for a niche part of the market . Call it a truck or a mini van doesn't change the fact that it's target market calls it a truck and it meets the needs of majority of its target customers.

So thickness doesn't always equal strength. Infact there are hollow web-like steel that is stronger than solid steel of thesame material or object.
is this the best truck? Nope. Is it the best looking truck? Depends on you. Is it the cheapest? Nope. Is it the most practical? Most probably not. Will I buy one? If I had the money, without a doubt. Why do people buy some stupid vehicles? Because it is fun. If you want to buy something that everyone thinks is practical then go buy a White Corolla. If you are not going to go do "4x4 24/7" like the UA-cam channel or not going to drive 500 miles a day and not towing 1100 pounds' daily then this is what you should buy.
It’s all subjective. But the CT is advertised as a go anywhere truck. And it’s not. And when compared to other trucks, it’s awful. And that’s when you don’t even consider towing. Just daily use, cargo space, livability, and fun to drive. It only ticks 2 boxes for me. It’s unique and it’s fast. Offroad it needs a lot of help and already seen a few break on mild stuff. Storage, wish she had more and there is a ton of wasted space. And it’s going to suck taking care of it.

Yep, bits that’s all EVs. They have the power to tow better than engines. But the battery tech is too heavy and we need more range from batteries before they can take it over. Or a different approach with an onboard generator like RAM is doing.

1. Tesla advertised it as an off-road truck. Specially right before launch with live streaming a video of it hitting the trails in Baja.
2. Look at those tires. They are funky but they are AT offroad tires. If this was not an off-road truck they would get MUCH better range and efficiency with a smaller street tire like all other trucks have.

I mean in all fairness, literally nobody who actually off-roads even considers anything stock suspension wise . a Tacoma, a raptor, a bronco, you name it all that stock crap goes right into the garbage and we are for sure bolting on custom, upper /lower arms/ spindles / steering racks / even entire subframes get reinforced. Just sayin … cyber truck stock suspension usually weak , but so is literally any other stock suspension part . even a brand new raptor nobody’s using those bullshit ball joint bushing Ford arms or that gimmc tinny fox shock. you’re bolting on some fabricated camburg / Baja des/… ones right ? you’re going with some real aftermarket fox bypass shocks right? You must not own a raptor. Tons of raptors wheeling stock. I wheeled 2 gen2 raptors on stock arms for years in SoCal with only spring upgrades and rear bump stops. Punished the truck and the stock ball joints and arms were great.
Raptor is not like the Tacoma or the cybertruck. It’s built to wheel offroad straight from the factory with no upgrades. But eventually you do need upgrades as you learn how to drive the truck faster.
But the cybertruck upper arms are uniquely weak. Those arms will most likely bend on a pothole hit at speed

This was meant to offroad and if you put 35s on your truck it’s immediately going to be compared to all others that come stock with 35s. And that’s the Raptor and the TRX. But the cybertruck is not even on par with an SUV let alone an off-road truck that it was advertised as

Wow…or should I say meh. Underwhelming to say the least! INMO not worth the hype or money. I’m over the whole Tesla thing…my father had a model S that had phenomenal acceleration, but for the price, it rode horribly bumpy and not a comfortable interior. My 2023 gen 3 rides so much sweeter…a real truck! What a waste!
