My buddy has a Hell's Canyon Speed that he got as a suppressor host. Had the hassle of getting a custom adapter since Browning decided to use a non standard thread pitch. Finally got that squared away and in the end saw the same thing you did. It wasn't so much grouping, more like patterning, even at 100. We decided that the can was likely messing up the harmonics, especially since the barrel was fairly thin profile. He put the factory brake back on and gave up on suppressing it.
Great content Lunkers!!! I'm notexpert, but I do own a few different suppressors, and to answer your question on the suppressor and accuracy thing.. The weight of the suppressor itself is changing the harmonics of your barrel.
I had the same issue with an AR… one thing that helped was direct thread mount rather than a quick connect. Other is reloading. It’s time consuming, but pays off when you are trying to keep groups tight.
My son has a bad seizure condition and I work 120hrs as a Firefighter/EMT a week to provide and pay medical bills. After a long day having your videos to watch have helped me so much! Thank you Rob.

I had 2 Bergara rifles. Both of them needed the paint removed from the bedding blocks to shoot sub moa. They were also very picky on torque specs on the action screws but i dont think thats your issue. I used a direct thread suppressor and found the rifles shot better with it than without. I currently have a suppressor that is HUB mount compatible. When i asked dead air if the Keymo or Xeno mount was better for precision rifles they told me the Xeno would be better for long range precision work. I noticed no accuracy difference between my direct thread mount and my Xeno mount. You might also want to check the barrel to see if its free floated with the suppressor on.
Suppressor changes barrel harmonics, change barrel length and groups would tighten up. Why I use an AR-15 for 'yotes, easy to swap parts and max out accuracy. My 5.56 AR will put the first 4 shots into 1 ragged hole at 100 yards, at 300 still around a 1" group
Trexarms just put out a video explaining groupings and made a lot of sense to me but basically shoot 10 round groups at 100yds till be bigger than expected but u wanna do that 5-8 times adjusting making the circle of 10shots smaller and smaller until u r at bout inch - 2inch groupings at 10rd intervals making it dead zeroed The can issue I think is due to one of the holes on the barrel being blocked pushing that round off target
What would be more interesting to know is ( A ) how different brands of suppressor affect the bullets AND ( B ) which ones can be overcome with different loads. I just rewatched this because UA-cam only showed I started watching
I have 7 suppressors and some with open up the group especially if you are not using caliber specific suppressor, for example my 204 will not group for shit out of a 30 caliber suppressor but if i put a same brand 556 suppressor it's Sub moa at 100 yards. I also have a couple 30 caliber suppressor that i can put on my Remington 700 22-250 and it tightened up the groups by 1/8" but POI shifts like 8" to the right at 100 but still Sub moa group, it all has to do with the barrel harmonics, also i have seen where the weight of the suppressor pulls the barrel down just enough to make slight contact with the stock
The supressor have a crown? Or the transition in rifling off, if it's over/under torqued? If it's possible? I'm not too familiar with suppressors🫣😉 but I mean that would be the two variables I would check. Thinking a longer barrel would get better flight. Idk maybe I just sound like an idiot
That's weird. My b-14 shoots just fine with my suppressor. I did 5 shots with a 3/4" group with my suppressor. Maybe your gun doesn't like the grain bullet your shooting. Are you shooting 50gr or 55gr? You also may try a heavier. Mines 1:9 and shoots 55s just fine even though they say it's optimal with 75gr
Idk if you noticed on the scope cam but there were a second set of ears right behind the one you shot so you maybe could have had 2 if you let them run in a bit more
Betting your groups opened up for one of the following reasons: 1. Can speeds the round up enough to where the projectile is deformed (from spin) slightly irregularly Or 2. Dynamic pressure building in the can just before the projectile exits and pushes it ever so slightly Or 3. The can weight is throwing the harmonics all out of whack Could be none of the above, could be all of the above.
Please explain#1. How would something designed to diffuse pressure make the projectile accelerate so fast so quickly it deforms from that pressure and not the pressure of being accelerated from 0 to 3000 plus feet a second? Or are you saying that it increases the spin rate of the bullet so much that centrifugal force causes the bullet to literally stretch itself outwards and deform?
My guess is that the threads aren't perfectly concentric, causing some sort of pressure deviation inside the can. Or the added weight out front is causing the barrel to make contact with the chassis.
@ 4:35 --------> You shot it's front leg off (that's what's he's chewing on & is flailing around @ 3:00)... 😐 Happened to me before, coyote ran off (on 3 legs) almost 1/4 mile.
I haven't done research but the suppressor probably slowed the over all velocity of the round causing the round to spin at a slower rate so maybe if you change the gr. Of the round your shooting you may see improvements
First coyote, you handled him badly. I mean, if you take a shot, you verify it. If it takes up time then it takes up time. Its just hunting ethics and a coyote didnt select to be born a coyote so no matter how you feel about them, you still hunt ethically or you leave him be. Everybody can maka a bad shot, but you clean up your messes before going away. Also also: Backstop? What kind of countryside is that that you fire over the horizon like that?

I would ask gun manufacturer of that rifle what the muzzle break on there if that could be what is causing the larger group with can on there what grain of bullet are you shooting ?
I believe i noticed you were hooting hornady shooting at above that 2300 to 2400 fps those bullets are designed for best performance out to 300yrds they suggest higher grain and lower velocity down to Mach 2 at 2232 fps I still belive the muzzle break is main reason for deviation with can depending on the baffle stack design@@LunkersTV
Does a suppressor really help a 22-250 that much? Sure it takes a little of the sound out but it is very much super sonic so the sound will still be there. I know they are hard to judge on video. Maybe the first shot is the can filling with gas, then the next two are close, I think you only showed two shots so it is hard to tell from the video, the can with no gas could be affecting the velocities. I would do a 5 shot group and see if 2-4 are on. That doesn't do much in a hunting situation but then you would know what the cause is. Just like how the first shot is always louder than that ones after it from a suppressed rifle. 22-250 is a great flat shooting round but wind, especially at range, will really push it around. 22-250 is about a BC of .2 whereas a .300 win mag is about .45. Makes a huge difference when stretching the legs in the wind. Do you have a reticle in the scope designed for .22-250, I would probably buy one if I was shooting at range consistently. I believe Leupold, my scope of choice, (and others) make custom reticles and turrets for you for fairly cheap.
