Aang: "Yes....I am wise. Now check THIS out!" (Does the little spinning balls with air trick.)
Marbles lol
Ok but technically speaking, Sokka and Katara are both the prince and princess of the southern water tribe since their father is the chief of the Sothern water tribe like Princess Yue's father is chief of the Northern water tribe.
Not sure why, but I assumed the Southern Tribe's Chieftan isn't hereditary. Isn't Korra's dad also the Southern Cheiftan even though he wasn't born there? And honestly, a lot of people from Azula to Toph make note of Sokka and Katara's lower status.
@@saberstrike000 True but then again neither of them, except zuko in the comics, have actually seen their father and probably didn't think, "oh! They're the cheif's kids, that must mean something."
It's a bit vague, but Southern tribe is implied (in Korra I think, and possibly comics) to be more of a tribe democracy, where chief is appointed by the tribe's council. They also seem more egalitarian in their social structure than the Nothern Tribe. They're more like president's children then. In that time Southern Tribe is also nearly extinct, it's odd to be called a princess of one village.
No. The SWT isn't a hereditary monarchy. It's more of a native American elective chiefdom.
@@vetarlittorf1807 ITs not even that. Katara and Sokka arent really given any special status or treatment for being the chieftons kids while true native tribes honored the children of the chiefs and cheiftesses.
It just hit me that Sokka carves a fish for Yue, WHOAAAAAAAAAA
Wait... 😮
WHOAAAAAAA
Don’t forget that it kinda looks like a person if you turn it 👀
LOVE watching as Katara gets more and more powerful!
i know katara is young in the show but she a bae
Her progress to mastery was a little rushed.
@@emmyjr1231 well it kinda was supposed to, almost everyone in the gaang are prodigies. We have even Sokka as an example, he kind of mastered the sword thing in like an episode, but we can assume that he spent some days training. In Katara’s case, she already KINDA new how to do some things even though she had never even seen a water bender and the moment she met a master, she tried her best to learn. That + the fact that she is a prodigy + they probably stayed there at least a month = her mastery. You can also give some credit to Pakku too, he is a beast as we know and a good teacher, and even he said that she was his best student ever.
@6:43 “I like this guy”
Me:Wait for it
Few seconds later
“Excuse me?”
Me: and there it is😂....
On point reaction 😂
Your Sokka prediction game is ON POINT ma’am
Yes
The song that Iroh sings is the song in the background of Sokka and Yue moments. I just found this out recently from a music youtuber.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is Katara of the Southern Water Triiibe!
Bukola's reactions are so genuine. love it lol
Cary and her face palms lol
and Kendell being the energy of the crew always hypes the others up. awesome lol
"You got time for sexism??" PERIODTT LMAO the world be in war,
Well, you don't really see women fighting in the war do you?
well, you can’t blame the north tribe for not wanting their women to die in the war.. the south tribe allowed their women to fight and they nearly went extinct for it.
@@dl8571 girl read the room, "you got TIME" he ain't got time to pick and choose about who he teaches based on *gender*
@@qkbarbland4332 Like Guillhez said, you can't blame him for not wanting their women to die fighting in the war. Also i'm a dude.
@@Guillhez Zhao literally says "the NWT has been able to resist our power because of their sheer numbers... the icy tundra etc..". The southern water tribe has always had lesser numbers, the men had gone off to fight so they can protect the women, the old and the children from letting the fire nation lay hands on them. Because they had less numbers, they had no fortification in place, and soon all the waterbenders were captured one by one and the women were forced to defend themselves which led them to being captured again i.e. in the puppetmaster. Learning the martial art of waterbending does not mean you need to fight in the war, there wasn't even a war because the fire nation was scared to approach the northern tribe fearing its might. They don't do it because they don't want them to "die" in the war, it's just plain sexism. viewing women as weak and less able.
Sexism was explained early in this show, and watching pakku treat probably one of the most empathetic characters (katara) like dirt for being a woman when you spent 17 episodes traveling and fighting just to be there woke me up
He did it not just because she's female, he did it because Katara wanted to break the rules and traditions of the tribe
@@mogilevball3221 …which was BECAUSE she was a woman.
The entire fleet isn’t just for aang. They’re just looking to invade and take over the north pole.
No. They were never interested in the Water Tribes as it doesn't give them any strategic value or resources. They only sought to cripple the Water Tribes. The Earth Kingdom was what the FN wanted to annex and use the comet go all Lebensraum on it.
I mean they were intending to conquer the whole world, and the water tribes (including the non-bending southerners) have constantly raiding and attacking the fire nation both sea and on land so I imagine they wanted that to end. Also if Aang were to die at some point it would mean that the next avatar will be a water bender so the fire nation does have a reason to destroy the last of the water tribes even if Aang dies.
More importantly, I think, is that Zhao has been promoted to the point he can command a fleet and has his own plan he's following (which becomes clear next episode). He's taking the opportunity of the Avatar being there as another reason to attack the Water Tribe. Stop the Avatar from mastering waterbending, finally cripple the Northern Tribe, and complete Zhao's secret objective as a final nail in the coffin.
@Lady Seashell Bikini I meant they were never interested in conquering them. They only raided the SWT in order to cripple them and they only attacked the NWT to capture Aang.
@Lady Seashell Bikini If they had wanted to conquer the Water Tribes, they would have conquered the SWT long ago. Why bother crippling the SWT? To demolish all opposition. As for Zhao, he simply stumbled across the information about Tui and La by chance when exploring Wan Shi Tong's library and decided to use that information to end waterbending for good, not realizing how important the moon is.
1:42 Sokka - the being annoying/falling in love guy :)
5:53 You need to do "activities" at the north pole to keep yourself warm ;)
9:44 "I'm never happy" ;)
12:46 Only dragons are missing...
I liked the editing in this video. :)
Tsögö Bauggi "But you're never happy" cracks me up for no reason xD
Since Sokka and Katara are the children of Chief Hakoda, so they are technically royalty too, and at the same station as Yue.
That means that if Disney ever buys the show's rights, Katara would be a Disney princess.
So would Azula😍
nobody nowhere yesss!! Azula is literally my favorite villain in the series. I love her character transformation and I honestly feel really bad for her and really respect her, ya know? I just have to say that she is honestly a damn good villain. So I would love a psychotic Disney princess 😍Lmao
Yep!!!!
No they wouldn't. Because they've never appeared in a Disney animated feature. Plus, they are not royalty. The SWT is a democratic chiefdom.
That huge naval fleet isn’t just for Aang, he’s planning on finally bringing down the Northern Water Tribe, who have been dug into their ice fortress and repelled them for the last 100 years. He’s planning on squashing both at once.
“SOMEBODY COME GET HER...”
I am very excited to see what yall have to say about this episode!
Katara said well your rules stink 😂😂😂😂
10:21 The Nigerian in Bukola came out!!😂
😂😂😂
Aang knew they had waterbending trainers at the north pole, but he didn't know about this custom of not teaching women waterbending. I'm thinking that might be because they actually did train them 100 years ago.
In our own history, the reason why men went to war or to hunt was because the men are expendable (okay yes, and because they're stronger, but that's secondary and doesn't apply to bending). Women can get pregnant and even after that you need them around to breastfeed the child, plus a kid raised by a single mother tends to do better than a kid raised by a single father.
So I think a similar thought process must have happened here. The northern water tribe didn't want the same thing to happen to them that happened to the southern tribe, where all the benders got taken and the tribe got thinned out enough that they basically fell into near barbarism. So they kept the female benders safe by not letting them fight. I'm guessing that bending is at least somewhat genetic and benders are more likely to have bender children than non-benders are (that's usually how it works with magic users and such in fantasy). If that's the case, then it's pretty important to keep a healthy supply of benders around at all times. The men are expendable. The women are not; they can get pregnant. And they can still be useful as healers; I mean, you probably want 50% or more to be healers anyway, so it works out.
(Obviously, he still should have trained Katara. I mean, for one thing she's not part of your culture anyway, and second, she's traveling with the avatar and he needs all the help he can get.)
If this show was made today, katara would destroy paku. Despite having 0 training.
This show did "fighting prejudice" properly. Not like today where the girl has no struggle shes just automatically strong.
Just found your channel. So excited to watch this series as it goes on!!
"In the thing that must not be named"
Smart girl. *puts away ba sing se*
I like how they managed to develop Pakku's character in this episode, and poor Sokka :(
Did he become kind of sexist because of the grandmother leaving him
@@kelsey1467 no the tribe had tradition that was long before him that he upheld.
@@Ratchetfan321 Im really not a fan of arranged marriages in general I respect that they are part of certain countries cultures but I don't like the idea of people deciding this is who I am going to marry
Youre not even ready for the season finale 👀

Are you guys sure you want to get #BukolasFirstTime trending? :P
Not for one 12 year old. For the only formidable water tribe fortress.
Yue is if missed signals was a person
Master Pakku was being such a jerk. You can clearly tell that he was ENJOYING antagonizing Katara. I wish he'd gotten a "Break The Haughty" moment in this episode. I'm mean, he kind of did when he realized that it was his own fault that Kana left him, but I think he got off too lightly.
Instead of asking what she thinks the episode is about ask what she hopes to see in this episode.
you guys have to watch and react to the haunting of hill house the whole first season is on netflix now and season two is coming up on October 9th you ll love it so much you ll thanks me later
I'm wearing blue.....wait that's blue? my eyes must really be gone now I see grey.can someone confirm?
you know if you make that trend on twitter people are gonna asume something else right
Technically he's 112.
Sokka:
seriously, fucking listen to people.
Out here assassinating teenagers damn
I see it through Pakku's view though, it's part of his culture, he's not inherently sexist, the fact that he can change confirms that. Imagine going to a Muslim Country and doing the same?
I think the only sexist Muslim countries are Iran and Saudi Arabia. I don't think the others have any sexist laws.
You’re an idiot dude. The way the writers portray him definitely is meant to express his sexism. “I’m waiting little girl”. . . “Go back to the healing huts where you belong” is peak sexism. You’re just a moron dude. Were you born this stupid or did you have to learn how to acquire such a trait?
Plz react to JoJo's Bizarre adventure!
