I was immediately reminded of my grandfather's Grist Mill in Neshoba County, Mississippi. There was always a delightful smell of the corn in the air and my memory flooded back to the 60s and 50s. My grandfather ran his Grist Mill slower than what you did.
Ive watched y’all make grits and flour, process a deer, smoke bacon, make cane syrup, grow, harvest, can, freeze food, and build almost everything. Learned so much from you. This is one of my favorite’s though!
WOW I'm amazed 😮. That looks beautiful. Truly fresh organic ground corn. You are truly a legend 🙌 ❤ I love you and Wanda praise God for your knowledge.
Danny, it’s amazing to me something 84 years old still does its job. Back when things were built to last. That is pretty much going out the window these days well has for a while now.👍👍👍
I like how the Danny corn adds color to the grind. These old machines fascinate me. I hope to find something to rebuild just like that. Thank you and Wanda.
When my grandmother was alive in the 1950s - my family went on vacation to Alabama to visit --- I remember eating grits & bacon & eggs & biscuits & gravy. YUMMM!
Working in a restaurant, I cook grits everyday. A pinch of salt, and some milk/heavy cream makes a huge difference in flavor. We use stone ground. I use 6 to 1 liquid to grits ratio. I bring the liquid up to, just under boil (don’t boil dairy), add the grits and turn to very low heat. I cook, stirring every few minutes, for about 30-45 minutes or until really smooth with no grittiness
My great-grandmother would cook grits done in machines like yours and she would soak her grits overnight in a bowl of water before cooking them the next day I hope this advice helps.
This video brings back memories for me. This is how we made animal feed. Hooked up the International Harvester with that big belt, 2 people outside on wagons feeding the grinder and 1 person inside the barn filling up the barrels. I miss the old grinder. You guys have all the fun.
It's not fast but that's a handy thing to have around. You could probably rig up a generator to run off of that belt too. Possibilities are endless really!
WE ONLY EAT GRITS FROM OUR CORN, IT'S PROVING HARDER AND HARDER TO FIND A MILL SO WE ARE TRYING TO FIND US A MILL. THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR VIDEO OF YOUR MILL.
Danny Wanda and you are so blessed to have that machine and be able to make grits out of it. I have a friend of mine that makes grits with sausage and a whole bunch of stuff and it takes them like 5 to 6 hours and oh my it is so delicious.. thanks for sharing. This was very interesting to watch. God bless both of you and take care.❤️❤️
🦋🇺🇸👍🥳🥳Good Morning Mr Danny n Miss Wanda. I appreciate you sharing. It makes me miss Country living . But life happens and we just have to keep believing and Praying that God’s Plan will unfold. Amen. Sending Love and Prayers that you have a bountiful harvest this year. God Bless
That is amazing. Antique machines running always fascinate me as I used to build high speed assembly equipment and now support it. Amazing to see that running so well. Y'all did an great job in the restoration. Would like to see some videos of y'all working on it. Thank you for sharing and have a blessed day.
Good morning ☀️ Miss Wanda and Mr.Danny good job 👍❤️💙please Miss Wanda do you have a recipe for corn bread( a lot of recipes they put white flour in it but I don’t like that) so if you don’t mind sharing recipe when you find some time ❤❤❤THANK YOU 🥰🥰💙❤️
Getting the adjustment exactly right takes some fiddling, but the results are more than worth it. When you are eating what you are making, being OCD is NOT a bad thing. “Perfection is comprised of many details, but perfection itself is no detail.” Michelangelo Buonarroti
This is amazing. I could watch that all day grinding the corn. As a kid we would go to a grist mill and watch a d but corn meal and grits. It was run off a water wheel Your Cub did a great job running it.
That is the coolest, neatest, thing ever! What an incredible gift that was! Absolutely love the old way of doing things. Bought a hand crank grinder with stones. It is alot of work, but better than going without flour! Sarah at LTH said one time she won a cornbread contest with fresh ground cornmeal/flour. Currently looking for an antique apple peeler like yours. The PC one we have just is not holding up. just about forgot, God bless y'all and everyone😊
Good morning, How exciting to grow and grind your own corn. The farm that we buy our chicken feed from has their own stone ground corn. Does it really make a difference? We buy from farmers in our area. We have a large German Baptist community all around us. They are similar to the Mennonite community. Absolutely wonderful people ❤️. We'll have to try the stone ground and see lol. God bless you guy's ❤
AS SOON AS any grain is ground, it begins to oxidize and lose both flavor and nutrition. It’s best to have a home mill and grind only for immediate use. Nutrients are essentially gone within 48 hours.
Cornbread uses baking soda and cooks for around 45min+ which is very similar to the Nixtamalization process used for tortillas -- which releases niacin and makes the cornmeal brighter yellow.
😊 the antique machines are what the communities need (& skilled people to run them). Thank you for showing that food isn't about store bought.
Amen!
Mmm! Fresh ground grits with bacon and eggs!! You are making my mouth water!!

Hey good morning ☀
Well done, it looks Great !!!
I'd so love to have one, maybe not that hooks up with a tractor (too many critters running around ) but I'd love to have a stone grinder.
My Danny Corn is chest high, it has very strong stalks. I only had one little pack of seed, I plan on saving most of this years crop for next year.
Absolutely a great video God bless you
10:41 y'all eatin rocks! 😂
Nah I understand about the wheels being too close. It looks great! 💯❤
Good morning. I've been waiting for this. The cub is doing a good job as well.

A twist in the drive belt will help it stay centered.
It would make it turn in the wrong direction.
Very cool!!
Good job, I would think that size machine is capable of much greater rate of production once completely dialed in. Awesome !!!
Thanks Mr.Danny and Mrs.Wanda! Y'all are the best.
Wonderful to see the old equipment being used
Looks amazing!
I hope you make a few videos on how to run the mill.
Really nice set up 👍
Corn meal, corn grits, just a filler to go this your morning breakfast 😊
Home grown is around 8 percent protein.
