    Circle hooks for sure! I never used to do much bait fishing but now I always have a livey out when drift flicking the tidal creeks. 2 Barra caught and 1 large Fingermark all hooked right in the corner of the jaw. Like what you said in the video, the fish hang themselves.

    Those first two hooks you showed were popular in the sixties and were known as Carl's hooks. Cheers

      Thanks for the kind words. I just create a loop from a paternoster rig. Otherwise a blood knot. We have more info on knots on our blog. www.ryanmoodyfishing.com/tag/fishing-knots/

      I find the best success with circles with a straight eye is to snell them, with the line always coming in from the point side..

    Mate i can't decide between kahle or octopus circle hooks. I keep hearing mixed opinions on which is better. I hear the octopus circle has a much better hook up rate than the kahle hooks. Have you got any experience or intel about octopus circle hooks?

    Hey mate I still gut n throat hook a few with wide gaps. Is it cos im fishing braid?

    • @RyanMoodyFishing
      @RyanMoodyFishing  7 років тому

      Hi Fish Hunter, it could be that they are swimming towards you on occasions. And by the time you come tight, the hook has gone down the throat rather than hooking the corner of the mouth. I typically live bait with mono and leave braid for all my luring purposes.

      Ryan Moody Fishing what is your favourite fishing reel for land based lure fishing

    • @RyanMoodyFishing
      @RyanMoodyFishing  6 років тому

      The reel makes little difference mate. Whatever you are comfortable with. Plenty of reel suggestions for different situations on the blog www.ryanmoodyfishing.com/blog

    Can you tell how many lbs would you use for your leader line? Live bait vs death bait? Can you tell how you use rig them?

    • @RyanMoodyFishing
      @RyanMoodyFishing  6 років тому

      vsonic86 60 to 70lb leader and live bait. Quite a bit of info on our blog. www.ryanmoodyfishing.com/blog

      Can this 60-70 leader stand against barracuda or Indian salmon in case they bite? Will using bigger leader decrease the chance for fish to bite?

    • @RyanMoodyFishing
      @RyanMoodyFishing  6 років тому +1

      vsonic86 if your fishing for fish with big teeth you’ll probably have to use wire. We are talking about Barramundi that don’t have teeth.

    Ryan why are barra such a pain in the ass to hook on live bait then...I've have a very very low hook up rate... I'm not striking fish either

    Hey Guru, I lost lots of Barra with this banana hook, fish always escape just when rod went off, please advise for drag setup

    • @RyanMoodyFishing
      @RyanMoodyFishing  5 років тому +2

      Amris Alk we don’t strike at them. We just let them hook themselves with the drag in gear at one third breaking strain of the line.
