Having experienced what it was like to spend sleepless nights writing and editing work and still be told, "You didn't do anything? Did you even do your job?" really hurts, so I can definitely empathize with the scriptwriter. It's true that disputes can still arise even if you do your best, especially when that's your passion. This episode relates to my on so many levels.
1:54:53 from what Trash Taste guys say, doing anything in bank is a nightmare, and they have to set aside half a day to do something in a bank that would be done in 5 minutes over phone in the west.
I personally think Fatale which is this season's op, is better than Idol if you include the visuals. A *LOT* of hints and cues are given during the entire op and those who know how the story goes can easily guess how many episodes they're going to adapt just by watching it.
@@godofthecows1239 Yeah but still. The first time you encounter Idol is AFTER you see Ai's conclusion. They could've shoved in a bit more details(or easter eggs) in OP1. I don't think Idol is worse song than Fatale whatsoever. However I view Fatale better in terms of it being OP along with the visuals. Fatale rewards a keen eye for observing the entire song it is a big hint for what's to come. So without the visuals and if we're viewing it as a song rather than it being an Opening for an anime, Idol is better. But in my opinion, in terms of both of them being OP(and I repeat, if we include the visuals), I think Fatale is better.
Big 3 is Naruto, One Piece, Bleach and refers only to those specific shows that were dominating battle shounen sphere back in 2000s and early 2010s. People will try to look for "new gen big 3" as if it was written in the stars that 3 shows at a given time have to dominate and once a slot is vacant someone will fill it, but it doesn't work like that.
I don't know why, but what stands out the most and hits kinda hard in the OP for me is at 43:33. Ai's ghost is dancing while Aqua and everyone else are cheering, but when she disappears, only he stops and instead solemnly puts one arm up. Like, maybe a visual metaphor for him taking the burden of avenging her?
It's sad that we know both sides are innocent but misunderstanding after misunderstanding made the situation be this way. I hope they manage to reach an common ground since it would be very bad if one of the sides ends up being seen as "the bad/unreasonable one"
For the crows, let's remember the two main religions in Japan are buddhism and shinto. Both have crows as symbols of wisedom, hidden knowledge, protection and guidance. In buddhism is also related with Death, mainly the souls of the deads, guiding them to the next step or returning to Earth in order to pay for wrong doings in the reincartation cycle. In shinto, crows also goes to the divinity guidance, one important entity on shinto mythology is Yatagarasu, the three legged crow, which is a messenger divinity famous of "guiding an Emperor to his fate". Now they also relate them with the love of family and its protection, but in some myths, it can also means bad omen in specific cases, like seeing a crow cry/tears, that means a bad omen. Now, for the theory, why the white hair girl, surrounded by "crow feathers", showing before Aqua/Gorou amalgamation and then there's THREE hands? Why? Remember Yatagarasu, the THREE legged crow? Is she some kind of omen to guide Ruby and Aqua to their fates? And if so, is that "fate" a good one or one full of suffering, cuz she is clapping like being entertained
37:00 fun fact if we go by the manga withe hair girl should have appeared in S1at least two times but they dodged her appearances. the fandom had many theories over her and since we to did not have a actual name for her she was commonly called "crow girl" or "yatagarasu"(japonese crow deity)
That ED is really dark man, and it highlights how just because she may act chipper and positive does not mean Ruby is okay mentally at all. She may not have watched Ai die like Aqua did but she was still _there,_ plus she had a whole past life of living in trauma where Ai was also a savior figure. I think people are too quick to dismiss that about Ruby. Aqua may be the most obvious at this point in time, but everyone is trying to cover up their need for therapy in this show…
Having watched a lot of reactions to this episode, it's a little disheartening that no one seems to entertain the notion that the mangaka might... be wrong? At least partially. That the communication problems aren't just middle men getting in her way, but also her inability to articulate her anger into actual feedback. Or that what she wants might not work at all on stage. I assume it'll come back to that somewhat, because a manga author writing a story where a manga author is right about everything would be pretty bad writing.
@@gbeaudette I agree that while she needed to be upset for it to get through that something is wrong her attacking the scriptwriter like that was overkill when she doesn't know the system involved and is assuming he's completely at fault. She doesn't know anything about theatre so I totally believe that her decision to just yeet the scriptwriter out is gonna come back to bite her. Just as how she doesn't want her passion to be undermined she shouldn't undermine others as well was my critique of her by the end of the episode. Even if she needs to vent her frustrations she needs to learn to reset and then communicate and ask questions so you're not wrong. Alot of people are split on oh the mangaka is right or oh poor GOA but there was failure on all sides and none of this was handled right. To be honest while both sides were failed by this system the more I rewatch the episode is the more I want justice for GOA because I couldn't imagine how mentally crushed he is for failing at something he not only poured his heart into but for one of his favorite manga works
I think the issue is that the mangaka is both right and wrong. In terms of her perspective and what she's arguing about ("the characters are being ruined", "how come I tell you one thing and you interpret it completely wrong?", etc.), she's right. Based on her personality and potential autism-ness, I get the impression she is straightforward to a fault and wouldn't think to consider the notion that 1) her to-the-point communication is rude, or 2) that people would "edit" her message as it traveled down the telephone. Going entirely by the information she had available to her, the writer had supposedly received her input, yet still ignored her wishes over and over and over, therefore he's either malicious or a poor choice as a writer. Either way, kicking him out is the "clear solution". Where she fails (and where I can again see autistic traits, as this kind of thing would come more naturally/obviously to a neurotypical person) is not considering other perspectives. Not just the matter of trying to change her words to be less hurtful, but also just the notion of "maybe the message got lost in communication" or "maybe the play has time constraints to consider" or "maybe the people involved are competent and there's some other issue going on". To her, she's under the impression that, as a creator, she's conveying a message to a fellow creator, giving him chance after chance to remedy the problems, yet he keeps making a mess of it. She definitely has a way to go in order to learn that the world outside of her work as a creator is not as straightforward and hyperfocused as she is, and the editor has a way to go in order to to better communicate this to her so that she can understand and improve herself rather than just him just pacifying her and continually trying to fix any issues she causes without her knowing.
I feel for GOA's stuck in a bad place, but the chain of communication let him down. Everyone between Abiko and GOA failed them both. Was Abiko not actionable in her critiques? Maybe, we don't know what her points actually were. She was certainly angry, and anger leads to poor communication. Now add all the CMA filters between Abiko and GOA? No wonder the Magnaka was pissssssed and felt ignored. Abiko did go overboard in her attack. But I totally get where she was coming from. Oh for funnies: noticed the Nokotan comments during Kana's coping scene. Both Kana and Nokotan are voiced by the great Megumi Han!
To refresh my memory, I looked up the Reddit discussion thread for chapter 40 of the manga, which came out in April 2021. That was the chapter adapted into the last part of the season 1 finale, when we first found out about Tokyo Blade, the stage adaptation, and the roles Aqua, Akane, and Kana would have. Even back then, people recognized it as being largely a Demon Slayer pastiche - it was described as an insanely popular battle manga with a TV anime and a massive hit movie, and it had the English word for “yaiba” in the title and people fighting with swords in wafuku, so the reference was pretty obvious. (IIRC, I pegged it myself in one page - the fan translation had Raida calling it “so popular even your grandmother has heard of it”.)
I'm just gonna say: I've had a bad experience with "mandated reporting," it directly led to one of my biggest childhood traumas, I'm reasonably sure that all it did was instill in me a sense that I should _never ever speak up about anything that troubles me,_ and it took _actually years_ for me to unlearn this lesson.
I feel like it was a fake smile and not an evil one. Like she’s smiling and trying not to frown. I definitely can agree with the fact that there is something off with that smile though.
As a manga reader, I know EXACTLY what event the ED refers to, the crows 🐦⬛, the door 🚪, Ruby’s despair, everything. First time I saw it, I thought, “Oh, they’re gonna get to THAT this season.” You will find out.
