- MINT, who is known for their modified SX-70s, is creating a new Rollei35 camera and bringing to the market in 2024. From an emailed blog post, they shared some photos of this new 35mm film camera, as well as a bit of their background & thought process with the new film camera. While there's not set in stone date, they're feeling confident that it will release this year. They go into detail about some of the hardware and features that are on this Rollei35AF, bringing into the modern area with auto focus settings. What do you think about this camera? Can you see yourself purchasing it when it's available?

This camera starts to look more and more interesting! And I begin to think that getting the Rollei name on this camera is a good move. I would like to see a marketing like "Rollei 35AF by MINT" (would pay into both brands and attract different groups), but we'll see.
I have a 35SE love it but struggle at times getting good focus. For me the 35AF will definitely be one to look at. Cheers

@@theolodger Not presently. The proposed Pentax-brand model is basically a high-tech point-n-shoot in half-frame format.

For my re-entry needs, I would love to see someone come out with something like the H35n from Kodak, that was just a little more expensive, with a metal body, and maybe just a little more exposure control. This camera looks exciting but, until I am ina place to invest in photography more artfully, I wish there was a brabd new (I just like having a new thing that was only ever my own) option that was a half frame point and shoot without any disposable feel. I really think that if Kodak had just made that h35n 100$ or 110$ and out of metal it could be the only camera I need for my purposes. The all plastic thing just feels like something I am expecting to have to replace inside of a year or teo of camping trips, and drops and backpack tosses.
Pretty sure you're almost exactly describing the upcoming 35mm Pentax release! But that will have zone focusing instead of AF and the price is still TBA

Given the original Rolleis had Tessar and Triotar lenses, it shouldn't be hard to outshine the original optically.
Interesting. I wonder what the price is. If they are modernizing this camera they should have made a center viewfinder over the lens so you don't have to struggle with centering your photos. The reason I hate rangefinders and the reason I would pass on this. I am sorry to hear about your friends. See if they can get Charity care.
unless you're shooting very close subjects the parallax correction takes care of it fine, and cropping can make it perfect.
In the several videos I've seen regarding this camera, I've yet to see if the lens retracts. Does it?
I don't think it does. It says 35mm f2.8, so they sacrificed the retraction for a wider lens and aperture. I'm surprised they didn't put a bayonet mount on it for magnification attachments though.

Really interesting camera, but I think in Ukraine I won't be able to pre-order or order and price for new camera will be unaffordable for me =( But still waiting for news about it
He extols the virtue of the proposed lens. Why? He has not seen or used the lens. No one outside of Mint knows anything about it. Will it be marginally better than a 40mm 2.8 Sonar lens. Perhaps. It could be. But the past performance of Mint gives absolutely no reason to accept on faith that such will be so. Mint has a long and solid history of putting crap lenses on their modified cameras. This little 35mm point-n-shoot modeled on the external appearance of a Rollei 35 may prove to be a Phoenix rising from the asses of film photography, but Mint's history of slinging nitch modifications at high prices does not warrant a positive expectation.
I don't think the folks buying the re-loadable disposable half frames are going to be able to make their student loan payments over this camera unless they spend a couple more years in mom's basement. Anyway, welcome to Colorado.
