- OLD SCHOOL BUTTERMILK PIE
RECIPE:
Ingredients
13/4 cups sugar
1 stick unsalted butter (1/2 cup), room temperature 3 large eggs
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
3 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 cup buttermilk
19-inch pie shell, unbaked
Instructions
Preheat oven to 300°F. Cream together the sugar and butter until well blended.
Beat in the eggs, one at a time, until the mixture is smooth. Add the vanilla, salt, and flour.
Gradually beat in the buttermilk until fully combined.
Place the pie shell on a foil-lined baking sheet. Pour the buttermilk mixture into the pie shell, filling it to the top. Pour any excess into an ungreased custard cup.
Bake for 1 hour and 10 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool before serving. Store covered in the fridge.

Hey Chef Jeffrey, I have learned over the years and from experience that how you mix your ingredients makes all the difference in the world in how your dish, whether desserts or others turn out. My family recipe for my chocolate and my coconut pies are examples. Also on my very old recipe for homemade fudge. But we all know that love is the main ingredient that should never be left out. It looks good!!! Mine separates sometimes too. I don’t know about doing it this way because the reason it’s my go to dessert is because it’s so fast. I just made this last weekend. It’s so good and creamy. I put fresh nutmeg and lemon in mine.

That's a lovely recipe. And timely as I'm bringing a dessert to a church event on Tuesday. I'm thinking of topping the pie with a peach glaze. I'd love to hear the opinions of others.
