- Carp Fishing | Wraysbury Giants | Sir Pete Springate
It was an absolute pleasure to welcome none other than Sir Pete Springate into the studio. A founding father of the big carp scene, a pioneer, and outdoors man in the truest sense. Pete is a man that likes to keep himself out of the limelight, so it was great to have the opportunity to sit down and find out where it all began for him, his fishing in recent years and of course his iconic captures of some true Wraysbury Giants!

For me, Pete’s Yeoveney brace is still the greatest capture of all time, those fish.....👌
Epic 🎉
Legend
What a gent Pete is,I could listen to him all day, such a humble man a true icon
Just love these talks with these angler who were about at the start. Top top listen.
Thanks for the kind words and we're glad you enjoyed it!
Absolute legend and icon of the sport and such a genuine and humble guy. Could listen to him for hours.
Thanks for the comment and we're glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome, one of my heroes and it’s great to see him👍
Thanks Graeme!
This is great, thank you - please try to do more like this as his generation were continuing the pioneer days of Walker and co.
We can still learn so much by listening to these greats, particularly about watercraft and observation. Its important to note how little reference to bait Pete makes and how you need to know a water and the carps behaviour....words of wisdom.
Thanks for the feedback Chris and we're glad you enjoyed it!
Absolute legend of a carp angler who caught some of the country's best carp when you really had to work hard there wasn't the tackle and all the gadgets then that there is now .
Great comment and thanks for watching!
Bumped into sir pete on w2 many many years ago, baiting up with a boat with a camo jacket on,a eye opener even then, more of the old school carp boys please Gardner
Saw the photos over the years... Read the book... That was brilliant I almost feel like I've finally met him... What a humble guy considering what he's achieved....
Thanks for the comment and we're glad you enjoyed it!
Your just spoiling us now team gardner boss carp legend right there ( sir pete )
Thanks for the kind words!
Cheers chaps, look forward to the next instalment.
Thanks Jay!
That Wraysbury brace around 92 and the photo of Sir Pete looking up sopping wet at the camera in the Anglers Mail with that Richworth t - shirt is what really got me interested in carp fishing even though I was fishing for carp with luncheon meat and a float and all sorts that capture was immense and I think a record brace the only boilies you could get was Richworth and the tackle was crude with ready tied black Dacron hooklinks black rig tubing no lead clips I have to say I didn't have a clue back then but with my paper money and some birthday money got some gear together
Hope hes back!! ain't even scratched the surface yet of what this man's done
