- This week the podcast sees the return of Mr Subsurface, one of the most multi talented and all round true carp fishing gentlemen (plus he can sure catch them) it's the one and only Gaz Fareham.
In this podcast Gaz talks about his modern day carp fishing pursuits on the likes of the ultra busy Stoneacres syndicate as well as his trips abroad for some real adventure and "freedom fishing". He talks openly about his observations when using a boat as well as his overall thoughts and frustrations in his recent angling. He has managed to string together some incredible captures of some infamous and much sought after carp both home and abroad and Gaz talks about the lengths he goes to make these captures happen.
Gaz is a huge influence on the scene and he talks about his feeling on this as well as the people who have influenced him over the years. Gaz also shares an exclusive that he is writing his own book and he also talks about all things Subsurface and the future direction for this.
Gaz takes a very philosophical view on his future and what carp fishing looks like for him moving forward. It's fascinating insight into the mind of a modern day carp fishing great.
Hassan please please please delve deeper into the minds of these guys, when Gaz mentioned preferring to fish zigs over weed, we want to know why.. 👍🏽👊🏽

Great podcast, love this guy, always makes me laugh and very dedicated.
Good podcast. The biggest edge in fishing is having time, fair play to those that can spend 4-5 nights on the bank week in / week out.
Also, Jim M was the last to catch the BM. He has never publicised it. 👍

Interesting to hear gaz talking about the issue of rising pressure in france due to people in his position publicising venues/the European "adventure".
I just have two questions. 1) if the films and publicity stopped, would people still have access to visit Europe, but have to do it the old school way (find venues themselves)? Yes, so no one would lose out.
2) would tackle and bait company's sell less tackle and bait without videos and publicity about Europe? Of course not, so no one would lose out.
I guess it depends on what's more important to these guys. Money/cred/saving a few quid being able to write off some of the expenses, OR, cramming the lakes full of people and losing the very peace and quiet that is special to them about fishing in Europe in the first place. And believe me, the circus is happening much quicker than anyone can dream.
Gaz, don't kid yourself - people are not all just going to the same places. I guarantee your next trip will surprise you, on one of these "unknown" places you will bump into some English (and they will absolutely be taking the piss with rules)

I think they would tbh. Those videos are great marketing tools. I don't think Nash would have sold as much Scope gear without Alan Blair and EuroBanx.
@carper1993 scope sales exploded way before that when Alan and Kevin fished an unknown lake in the uk. We'll have to agree to disagree. If videos are well presented and engaging it doesn't matter if they're in the uk or timbuktoo. The best marketing tool of them all is the annual esp Terry hearn video... and that's shot in Terry's living room 😆
