Intro by Toros Kose: toroskose.com/
As a note. Once he get 16 drinks he unlocks all of his attacks. Any drinks he gets after 16 gives him a damage buff.
"Get drunk and have fun." Didn't know Shun Di was a frat boy.
Shun Di grows exponentially more powerful the more he drinks, boosting his damage and unlocking devastating new moves. Shun's dependency on the bottle can make him predictable, but once the drunken master gets the party started it can be very hard to sober him up. 🍶
As always a massive thank you to Wireman: twitter.com/WireManFGC and Blessy: twitter.com/BlessyVF for their help on this series. Next up is the hard hitting Yokozuna, Taka Arashi!
Shun is such a fun character to play and to fight. The diversity in his moveset and his ability to steal matches is thankfully balanced out by the need to take in alcohol to keep the party going. If it weren't for his drink counter being essentially a power limiter, he'd be the most broken character in Virtua Fighter. The opponent has the burden of matchup knowledge here - you have to know which moves and throws deplete his drink counter to keep him from building momentum.
This video sounds like you’re having way too much fun writing these scripts, and quite frankly I’m here for it.
Shout outs to the Shun player Fuudo, who literally won evo in STREET FIGHTER (4 AE0 having never really played it after going on a mad streak with Shun that year and just thinking it'd be fun. It's probably the main reason this character sticks out in my head so much.
Which year?
Most importantly you can feel the tension in the room when his drink count is really high it's like the person is in the same room with you when you plan on online and you can tell he nervous about what's coming behind them 20 or more drinks count
Thank you so much for making these, VF deserves the love
That VF2 Lion quote reference, very smooth.
He is that drunken master you see in every Kung Fu film.
Dude this vide has made me wanna pick up VF5, this guy looks incrediblee
You will not regret it. Shun Di is a huge threat.
Shun is so good. U might at first think he is the single best character in the game because of his ability to win matches, but that not true though it will feel like it
@@BCDC123 is the game still alive online?
What great timing. Sunday for Shun Di.
“Shunday”
Shun Di teaches me that the fastest way to get sober is to start a fight and have people beat the crap out of you.....
This is my kind of character. More powerful as he drinks more.
Ah finally my main character. The drunken old man with his 180 moves or so
My Main since VF3! Let’s goooooo!!!!
This answers a lot of questions i had of this character. Thanks
I miss his old VA (RIP) it was cheery and lovable instead of the shriek tone he has now.
So he's like Lei from Tekken, but a LOT more drunk! Seems fun to play ngl lol
Believe me, he is. Been playing him since mid 90s (vf3), and he really came into his own in vf4!
More like Doctor b
@@marca7542 would you say playing on stick is better than pad for a character like shun?
Exactly, but Lei is also like Lau partially since he does the tiger swallow fist style too.
Characters that gotta load up on some kind of buff just hit different.
Hey kid, like Jackie Chan movies? Drunken Master in particular? 99% of Shun's moves come from that.
What we didn't get as druken master Bo' Rai Cho in MKXL
he is pretty much Jackie Chan in legend of the drunken master.
he is actually based on his master from this movie, Beggar So, played by Yuen Siu-tien
Lei Wulong is Jackie Chan, he is his master Beggar So from that movie.
The weird noises he makes while fighting makes it easier to take an L. At least you can laugh while he’s demolishing you.
He can also SPIT the “good drank” in your face.
You didn't mention his most useful move that unlocks at 8 drinks, Chouwan.
Going on 20 yrs and still the best drunken fighter in the FGC
Heck, 27 years actually lol.
I'm Thirsty now.
LEMMI GRAB A COLD ONE REAL QUICK🍻
Cheers to all my fellow Shun mains! 🍶
Yeah baby!!!
Ah Old Kung Fu guy. We meet again.
Imo, he’s one if not the most annoying character to fight in VF. I personally would place this old man at A or S tier.
And players like me love annoying players like you with Shun… been doing it since VF3, heheh!
Same. He's probably at the same tier as Akira (or maybe one rank lower if you factor in learning curve)
Once you understand the matchup and learn good drink management he becomes infinitly easier to deal with. At beginner levels he can rely on gimmicks to get wins which he can't get away with a intermediate/higher level play.
All these puns 😂 drunken thanks 🙏🏾
A mixture of Wang and Lei nice
More like Lei and Eddy, I would say
@@havocwingplzg Definitely more like Lei and Eddy with the laying down stance and the handstand. LOL I don’t know the specific name of those stances but yes!
You are SPOT ON 💯%
Shun is the only character that has a cool and strong standard throw, better than many of his command ones.it also add 4 bottles in one hit.
I was playing this guy in Yakuza, he was pretty cool
Drunken Master, Empty Bottle... 😜🥊
O personagem mais legal do jogo 👏😂🇧🇷
Why not bring up the stances in detail?
It's very difficult to shave some of these characters down to a couple of minutes while still capturing what they're all about. You're guaranteed to miss some things, especially when it comes to someone as complex as Shun. His stance purposes are less straightforward than other character stances and I'd go so far as to say some are redundant or not needed outside of extremely deep player matchups, which could be distracting or misleading in an introduction. There's a vid on my own channel called "Zabantetsu" where I go into some more detail on this, using a Lv~30 ranked Shun match as an example.
B+?
If you can keep Shun below 6 drinks he's not that threatening. Good players know how to keep his drink count down. So with that in mind yeah hes ranked correctly.
Old'mun.
Definitely not B+ tier considering how often you see him in pro tournaments
Wang Jinrei looks a little different from the last time I had seen him.
I try to get into this game and this guide was fun but useless
I hate this guy spammers over use him
Wait that's actually a concept I came up before, I didn't know this guy existed. How sad there are no Virtua Fighter games around. If only there was one that existed, but there isn't one. Imagine if they, like, rereleased the last game so people can play it in the modern age of gaming, that would be cool, and it would certainly make people excited for the next potential entry for the series
Really unfortunate
"Imagine if they, like, rereleased the last game....." Are you trolling?
Maybe I misunderstand your comment, but this whole serie is focused on the rerelease of Virtua Fighter that's was done 7 months ago on PS4
Sounds like this guy just wake up from his cryogenic sleep 😂
I can't tell if this is serious or some weird attempt at sarcasm.
It’s not a troll but a joke based on the premise that he comes up with ideas while not realising that they already exist.
