Love this game. I had the original King of Siam, which is effectively identical, and that was played SO many times that pretty much every card or cardboard component fell apart. This may be the perfect 3p (and I do think it's best as a 3p game experience), small footprint, insanely tense and dynamic gameplay, all in under 45min, game I own. The true "knife fight in a phone booth" in my collection. I always feel like I've played a much heavier and lengthier game after having played this. Thanks for the amazing as always review, gents!
Didn't like it as a head to head? 2p is awesome! but also really love it at 3p. The DNA runs from this to Pax Pamir, & then back again to the recent Turncoats. More theme in Pamir, less in Turncoats (but don't fear how abstract it appears). All play in 15-40 or so. I like this or Pamir if I only have 2, this if I have 3, and if I have more, plus the itch: but now, add a strong element of bluffing...then Turncoats is fantastic.
We only played it at 3, and losing that thee player dynamic feels like too much of a step back. Rather play a dedicated 2 player game. But for 3 players this is mouthwatering.
@@ThePlayersAid Fair enough...honestly, don't knock it till you try it! It's missing nothing: it is in its own right a mouth-watering & perfect duel. I know many, on the other hand, who hate The King Is Dead with 3 because the game is already quite zero-sum by nature, so a 3rd exacerbates the 2v1 dynamic. I think the kingmaker problem is really what threatens players of that type. But again, I love the game equally at both 2p & 3p.
This game is great. We play it 2 player during break at work using the alternative card rules. Holy cow strategic and deep game the more you play. It has a short play time. The more we play the more we laugh. The more you feel like your in a fist fight, sizing your opponent up.
Bought this game this summer and can't stop playing it. Best with 3, perfect for those that normally play games and those that aren't usually into them.
A great game! In my opinion the unstablity/French invasion should never happen. We've not seen it as people avoid it if they are ahead otherwise or have more cards left (really are ahead that is).

I’ve only played 3 player! It’s a fantastic puzzle that gets real spicy. Very fun
"and if you're the Mr. Scotland Man, you're feeling pretty good about yourself" 😂
I really enjoy this game a lot. Like you said it’s tight and tense. Played it in 20 mins with 3 players
When life gives you lemons, make a shirt :)
Nice to see something else based on King of Siam mechanics.
Osprey make some great games. You so should try Imperium Classics. Civ build and deck building.
Wonderful game! Just bought it at SHUX after a few plays. Perfect for my group.
