Confession: Being an early 2000s kid, I grew up watching Thomas on DVDs and PBS Kids Sprout, when Shining Time Station stopped airing, and I didn't find out about it until I think I was 10. But now that I do, I have to say, the show is pretty awesome and so is this podcast. I can't wait for more episodes! Also, Miss Danielle is really pretty. Just thought I should mention that.
Shining Time Station was probably one of the first things I searched when UA-cam started, and now all these years later to have access to full episodes and specials, as well as things like this: memories are flowing back. I actually mailed Brian a letter and a photo of him as Schemer years back to sign for me, but it must have been lost in the mail. I'll be checking back in for any new content. THANKS!
Thanks for sharing, Rod! I’m so glad to hear. Also check out my Twitter for more up to date info - including an upcoming STS prop display! @NorthernStarCA
Thank you so much for these videos! STS was a huge part of my childhood and watching these brought back such fond memories. I remember my dad recording a bunch of episodes on VHS and I'm pretty sure if I searched my parents basement I could still find a few old tapes, including Schemer Presents: How to get Somthing Done with Becky (Danielle). I have a box full of the ERTL metal trains and all the bend-em toys too 😂. Thank you again!
My inner child is freaking out these guys all made a huge impact on me as a kid and now I work at a railroad museum! Love all of you and if any of yall read this....thank you!!!
I just finished watching this entire podcast and it was wonderful. I loved hearing their stories about their time on Shining Time Station. I was especially surprised to see that you've contacted Danielle Marcot to be a part of this reunion. I was shocked to learn that Danielle was from New York when she was cast as Becky and all this time I thought she was based from Toronto. She looks beautiful as well. Has a wonderful smile and even when I watch her on the show, she still has that smile. This is why I hope that the Sodor Island fansite will update the Shining Time Station Fansite with new interviews. I would love to read one with Didi Conn or Brian O'Connor. The more stories I hear about working on the show, the more I feel nostalgic about it, and how proud it was for them to have been a part of it. Hoping to see part 3.
I always wondered why they stopped doing new interviews with the other cast and crew members old and new too. I don't know if it's because of their new update change to the site, but it's really strange.
This is so beautiful man. The little shoutout meant a lot too! I’m so glad that my restorations of STS episodes have been so well received. People like us are keeping the show alive!
I have been going back and watching the episodes as they are uploaded my question is how did you find the episodes in this kind of condition they look and sound great
Loved this show! I really loved Thomas as a little kid (Gordon was my favorite) and the Mr. Conductor segments. I see Titto, Didi, and Grace, but are the boy brothers Tex and Rex still around? What about J.J. Silvers?
I’m just as giddy as Didi is to see Danielle after all these years! “Becky” as a grown up and with three kids! We never see or hear from her until now! Danielle, if you see this, thank you for being an awesome part of my childhood!
This was very lovely. Loved seeing Schemer, Becky, and Stacy all over again. I feel like Ari being in trouble makes sense because I’ve seen him break a couple of times during Schemer hijinks.
Becky was my favorite out of all the kids. Very much like someone who would be a best friend of mine. Very sweet & kind to everyone, especially to Schemer. Danielle was super talented, and I felt like she was playing herself, just with a different name. 😁
This really brought a tear to my eye, in a good way! I recently had an incredible sense of nostalgia after watching the George Carlin documentary and seeing the little segment of him being on Shining Time Station. So I started looking up Shining Time Station here on UA-cam to jog some of those old memories I had as a kid, and I stumbled upon this gem. So good to see how some of the cast a crew are doing nowadays. This show is how I became a Beatles fan and a George Carlin fan, oddly enough. Ringo and George were some of my biggest influences in life, and Thomas and Shining Time Station had messages that I still take to heart to this day. Such a much needed refresh in the midst of all the troubles we're experiencing today.
Thanks for sharing your connection to the show! I always find these types of comments very touching to read. I’m glad to hear you enjoyed it😊 I still have to watch that George Carlin doc
Thank you sooo much for making this reunion possible!! I watched your first episode; loved it. Loved the second episode even more!!! Thanks sooo much!!!🤩🤩
I absolutely love Shining Time Station!!!! Shining Time Station is one of my most favorite TV shows!!!! Please please I absolutely would love to get every episode of Shining Time Station, all the specials and movies on DVD!!!! Please release Shining Time Station on DVD?
This was one of my favorite shows growing up. I've been recently watching some episodes and enjoying them as much now as I did back then. "Nickel in a Pickle" is probably my favorite episode!
I cannot even begin to say how much I enjoyed and appreciated both this and the first podcast video. Shining Time Station was my number one favorite show as a toddler that I watched over and over again on recorded VHS tapes, all of which I still have to this day (but which have seen better days after constant viewings from all those years ago, lol). Though, I didn't actually see all of it in its first run. Thanks to those recorded tapes, I was able to see all of season 1, most of season 2, and about half of season 3, plus the Christmas special and the third family special. I never saw the other specials or Mr. Conductor's Thomas Tales because, at the time, I never saw any advertisement or announcement of them. The fact that I managed to catch "One of the Family" (and a rerun of it, at that) was pure coincidence. It would not be until just last year that I had the whim to just sit down and finally binge the entire series, start to finish, on UA-cam, finally seeing every episode and special that I'd never seen before. Watching those new-to-me episodes/specials as an adult was quite the experience. And, of course, there's the Magic Railroad movie. Saw it theaters as a kid when it first came out. Loved it enough back then to rent it multiple times from Blockbuster back in the day. But, now as an adult, it just doesn't have the same magic as either Shining Time Station proper or Thomas & Friends proper. Ironic, considering the movie was all about magic -(and about breaking continuity with both shows).- As a person who is also on the spectrum (Asperger's Syndrome), I can vouch for absolute certainty that both Shining Time Station and Thomas & Friends are indeed very popular with folks like myself. One of my coworkers also has a son who is very autistic and loves Thomas, but only the model seasons, not the CGI ones. This video in particular actually ended up debunking a fan theory I'd had about the show for a while now. I knew that the first season had been filmed in New York while the rest of the show was moved to Toronto (in addition to all the cast changes, I always recognized the darker lighting and less echo-y sound of Seasons 2-3 vs. Season 1's very bright lighting and more echo-y studio), so with that in mind, I'd assumed that the cast change from Matt and Tanya to Dan, Kara, and Becky was simply due to the show's relocation. But now, I see that they'd always intended to switch out Matt and Tanya for new kids due to their ages. This disproves my fan theory that Vicky from the Christmas special was going to become the third kid of the show with Matt and Tanya before they'd all been replaced with Dan, Kara, and Becky. My basis for this theory was how, in the second episode of Season 2 ("Oh What a Tangled Web"), Dan and Kara's roles felt more like they were written with Matt and Tanya in mind, with Becky's role feeling like it was meant to be for Vicky (what with how snarky and cynical Becky kinda was in that episode, which felt more like an extension of Vicky's character). Becky and Vicky's names even sound kinda similar, and that episode also feels like it was written to be the first episode of the second season (J.B. King beginning his search for Mr. Conductor felt like a direct continuation of his discovery of Mr. C living in the station back in the Season 1 finale), and could have worked as such if none of the cast had changed after Season 1. "Scare Dares" being the actual first episode of Season 2 felt like it was made in direct response to the cast changes, and it always seemed unusual for a Halloween episode to be the season premiere. But, since Rick says in this video that the kid cast was always going to change after the first season, that just throws my theory completely out the window. Oh well, no biggie. Great job on this! I look forward to any further Shining Time Station reunions you may do, or other reunions for shows from my childhood (full-blown '90s kid right here!). Or, perhaps, here's a neat idea. As a side project, would you be interested in interviewing adult fans of these children's shows, hearing about their experiences growing up with these shows, and how they affected them emotionally and psychologically, and how they cherish them into adulthood in spite of the world around them insisting that "growing up" means letting go of "childish things"? That could be interesting.
OMG!! THIS IS SOO AWESOME!!! The First One was Great but the SECOND ONE, OMG!! I'm So Happy You got in Contact with Brian & Danielle, I'm Glad that they are doing well. I just Wish that Tom Jackson and Erica Luttrell were part of this but its okay, they are both keeping busy and doing great. Thank You So Much for This. 🙏😊
I'm glad you did this podcast! I am a HUGE fan of Didi Conn played Stacy Jones. And by the way, her red outfit that she had on the show, red was my favorite color!
Another fantastic STS reunion mate! Seeing Danielle Marcot, Brian O'Connor and Jonathan Freeman again on this episode is one of the best surprises we ever received. I was kinda hoping Erica Luttrell in it though I am glad we have a little clip from her and Jason Woliner reaching out to the cast and crew (I'm not sure if any of her other interviews talked about her work on Shining Time, I could be wrong but I'm just not sure). Also, watching this podcast of STS makes me wish we have a Thomas & the Magic Railroad cast and crew reunion w/ possibly just the voiceover artists (Neil Crone, Linda Ballantyne, Susan Roman, etc) and perhaps Mara Wilson and Cody McMains. I know it probably won't happen, though it would be nice to see what would happen if there is. As for Shining Time Station, I am still watching the rest of the episodes by Joseph Marshall in broadcast order, though I still yet to rewatch Episode 18 of S1 when I have time and before moving onto S2 and so on.
Great interview with all of the former actors and crew members involved in one of the best TV shows of all time: "Shining Time Station"! A great show for children as well as for adults! It would be great if Tom Jackson (Billy Twofeathers), Britt Alcroft, Jonathan Shapiro (Schemee) and hopefully Ringo Star (Season 1's Mr. Conductor) could appear in any of the future episodes of this awesome documentary series. Didi Conn (Stacy Jones) and Brian O'Connor (Schemer) should remain regular interviewees per episode because they are very important actors for the show and played very important characters on the show! Although there probably won't be a DVD release of "Shining Time Station" at any time soon, fortunately, thanks to Johnson And Noddy, you can now watch ALL of the episodes of the show in the best quality possible! This really kills the thrill of the hunt for the hardcore fans who want the DVD release so badly. Yet I wonder... are the episodes scanned from homemade compilation VHS copies or are they from the original video tape masters? The original video tape masters are extremely valuable and need to be preserved. I would like to know and it would be fantastic if there is a short making-of documentary to briefly show how the process is done, just for those out of curiosity.
Even though I wasn't here for the live airing of this episode it was nice to see the shinetime crew back again. Next to Thomas and tugs shining time station has been one of my favorites, and it was awesome to hear the behind-the-scenes stories and a funny jokes and gags that they had they had to offer. Another awesome episode Adrian.
Adrian, this was a fantastic follow up to the first episode! I loved seeing some surprise appearances that were thrown in, in addition to updates on where some of the former child actors are now. As always, keep up the fantastic work on these podcasts. We just finished our last day of school and are off for the summer so this was a great podcast to come back to! Can’t wait for the third episode!
May George also rest in peace...he was great as Mr. Conductor...make you wonder if he did like Bob Saget and told dirty jokes in between filming the show.
Absolutely amazing. Hearing some of the stories of Brian and his antics just had me laughing. Danielle still has the same cute face that she had as Becky. I hope you can get Tom Jackson in on one of these
And I also loved hearing Jonathan's connection with the Autistic community. As someone on the spectrum, I can verify that Shining Time Station was one of my favorite shows. Thomas in general has immense popularity with Autistic people.
An excellent podcast, thank you for doing this! I would have liked to have heard more memories of the late Ari Magder, but aside from that, both episodes are well done.
I would love to know about the film viewer in Schemer's Arcade: were the films shown specifically made for Shining Time or were they licensed? There's one in particular I saw ONCE where there's a mom, a sister and brother and the brother/sister are walking around outside, picking berries, running into the house, spending time with mom, etc. The house was in a nature/country setting. It had a really nice song over it. I would LOVE to see that again but I have NO idea where I would even see it or find it or what episode it was. If anyone has any information over this, I'd pay good money to see it again.
The cartoons were public domain, but the live action music videos were made for STS. You’re either thinking of “Caring” from the episode “Achoo” or “Thanksgiving” from “Billy’s Party”. You can find all the eps on UA-cam👍
Hopefully JB King and Tom Jackson aka Billy Twofeathers will make appearances on there and let’s not forget that the actor who played Mayor flapdinger who passed away too!
I'm hoping to see a third episode. Hopefully with the same people, as well as Nicole from the last episode, and hopefully Erica, Jason, the actors who played Schemee, JB King, and Felix, and the rest of the Jukebox Band. Because as I've been watching the entire series. I really enjoy it. On another note, I watched Thomas and the Magic Railroad as a kid, and I thought that Shining Time was another show unconnected to Thomas with a quaint sitcom, 16 years later, I got to see the entire series, and boy did my opinion change
Shining time station is a show few will remember but it lives deep. The fact that this reunion happened and has viewers shows how much a devoted fan base it has even 30 years after airing. Thank you all for the laughs :)
I also remember the scene when schemer is a strawberry and at the last part of the show he's getting the pie off his face and he suddenly leans over and kisses Stacy getting pie on her face lol
As sad as it is that Leonard Jackson (Harry) and George Carlin (Mr. Conductor) have passed on, quite possibly the most shocking loss from this cast is Ari Fleischer (Dan), who died at the age of only 28.
To Danielle, I have the biggest crush on your boyfriend. He is a very handsome man. I cannot wait till you guys get married so I can steal him away from you. Love you both, Joe.

An excellent podcast, thank you for doing this! I would have liked to have heard more memories of the late Ari Magder, but aside from that, both episodes are well done.
Brian is always so funny, I can see myself teasing him. I was very sad to learn Ari passed away 10 years ago. I wonder why was the show cancelled?
Yes, me too. Rick discusses the show ending in his interview here: www.sodor-island.com/sts-interview-rick-siggelkow
@@trainofthoughtpodcast When's part 2 coming out? If so, you should invite some fans of Shining Time Station to join?
It was "Caring" from Achoo! Holy crap! NICE! I thought I'd never see it again! THANK YOU! @@trainofthoughtpodcast
They need to bring the show back
Absolutely
Brian needs to play a fun grandpa in a movie.
Hopefully JB King and Tom Jackson aka Billy Twofeathers will make appearances on there and let’s not forget that the actor who played Mayor flapdinger who passed away too!
Johnathan was great as Tito...he sometimes sounded like Jafar when he sang and he was also great on Mathnet.
Great to see that Brian is okay...he needs to play a fun grandfather in a movie...like a former hippie.
I hope Marcot gets a Facebook
6:12 from the production during the third season episode: 'Becky Makes a Wish'
I'm hoping to see a third episode. Hopefully with the same people, as well as Nicole from the last episode, and hopefully Erica, Jason, the actors who played Schemee, JB King, and Felix, and the rest of the Jukebox Band. Because as I've been watching the entire series. I really enjoy it. On another note, I watched Thomas and the Magic Railroad as a kid, and I thought that Shining Time was another show unconnected to Thomas with a quaint sitcom, 16 years later, I got to see the entire series, and boy did my opinion change
And i miss the others too, Midge Smoot, Jenny, Feliz, lol wonder how little schemee is doing. Oh yes and we need JB king esquire too hahaha
Shining time station is a show few will remember but it lives deep. The fact that this reunion happened and has viewers shows how much a devoted fan base it has even 30 years after airing. Thank you all for the laughs :)
Well said
I hope they all come to Boston Comic Con!
I also remember the scene when schemer is a strawberry and at the last part of the show he's getting the pie off his face and he suddenly leans over and kisses Stacy getting pie on her face lol
DiDi could play Principal McGee in an audio production of the musicial "Grease."😊
59:37 To All Trains
As sad as it is that Leonard Jackson (Harry) and George Carlin (Mr. Conductor) have passed on, quite possibly the most shocking loss from this cast is Ari Fleischer (Dan), who died at the age of only 28.
Actually, you mean Magder. not Fleischer.
@@cartoonman1570 Yes, Magder. My bad. Where did I get Fleischer from? 😅
Next one they need to get everyone here back again and add Tom!!!
Erica could star in a production the musical Oliver as Nancy
Erica also voiced Princess Candy on Dave the Barbarian
Also Keisha Franklin on 'The Magic School Bus' as well too.
To Danielle, I have the biggest crush on your boyfriend. He is a very handsome man. I cannot wait till you guys get married so I can steal him away from you. Love you both, Joe.
Ringo Starr should join
😭😭😭😭
Aw - did you enjoy it?
Wait - STS invented "dudes and dudettes"?
Are midge or ginny still alive? I loved them!
Sadly not. I loved them too!
@@trainofthoughtpodcast do you have another podcast lines up soon? I would love to send in a fan question.
@@dianejoy7875 I don’t at the moment, sorry! But what is your question?
would schemer be considerd a villain
He’s more of a trickster, I think
@@trainofthoughtpodcast i as a kid i wanted schemer to get his own set of spin off movies kind of like the ernest movies
@@robbiedistasio3131 That’s a fun idea. I guess “Schemer Presents” was the closest we got to that
Not at all
Adrian I have a question do you think that Shining Time Station can be considered by fans one of Thomas' biggest mistakes and caused more mistakes.
Obviously not if I’m willing to do an entire podcast about my devotion to the show😅
Wow, Brian looked so serious, literally almost the entire video. Not a lot of smiles or even laughter from him, hmm....
I can assure you, he was not that serious🤣Check out my other recent podcast with him, here: shows.acast.com/right-on-track/episodes/time-to-shine-ep-10-its-more-important-than-pants
@@trainofthoughtpodcast Oh cool, okay, I definitely will! :) And thanks for bringing this podcast to us fans. I grew up watching this show and I loved it!
@@miss_princess_lily You're welcome! Me too.
Everyone was great on the show...may Ari rest in peace.
