Not sure if someone has already mentioned it, but Magna Carta: Tears of Blood wasn't here, even though it's a turn-based RPG. However, that is a Korean game. This list was about Japanese games.
I came here looking for the name of that game...
Thanks!!
Another amazing list. Thank you so much for doing this for each console for the PS. An that thumbnail was pretty amazing too :)
We don't deserve you, Erick. Well done, man!
Once again another great list that gave me new entries to consider playing when I have the time ❤️
Keep this up! Your content on RPGs always makes me and others interested to play or even replay these games
Erick Thanks so much got afew more games to add to my list to get.
For the better, whether you mean to do this or not, your channel does an incredible job of informing on games we may have missed by doing lists like this, or focusing on games we may have great nostalgia for. The content in the last couple of months has really been appreciated. Thanks Erick!
Awesome list. I need to try some of these.
The PS2 was an amazing system for JRPG's, so many great memories I have from those games.
thanks for the compiation man. you are awesome.
I'm glad you did this
Happy noises! I miss the era of awesome turn based RPGs
Hi Erick. I missed that Lords of the ring RPG, that one whick is turn based. I played it and loved it. Great video :)
2:47 "Teiseken slash!" The Grandia 2 battle theme still is in my cellphone alarm
awesome you included the battle themes. Greatest themes are from the Iris series , Tonelico, Mana Khema 2, Grandia 2, Dokopan, Grandia 3 and i haven't played any of these games yet
The Ar tonelico series definitely is my favorite example of a JRPG that doesn't need to be difficult to be good. Apparently the lore came from a tabletop campaign the series creator ran back in like 2000, and he liked it enough to make it into a game.
not unlike ps1, i missed a lot of these games..great work as always!
I hope you also do one of those ranking charts for the PS2 JRPGs as well.
thx man, I was looking for years for that dragon quest game, I loved it as a child and the fighing scene was my only memory.
You saved us a lot of time, thanks.
You're a God send now it's easy to decide what to get on my steam deck
The track for first game shown is so hype!!!! Nocturne my love my light!!!!!!
My favs are: Dragon Quest 8, Persona 3 FES, Persona 4. Others are action RPG like Rogue Galaxy, Radiata Stories, .hack
2:30 Ugh, hit me right in my Nostalgia. Brings back great memories
I miss grandia Xtreme and grandia 3😢
(And valkyrie profile 2...😢😢😢)
Great video, would have loved it if you said a few words about each game. I understand time constraints though 👍
Great games I have at least half of these games
my favorite genre in my favorite console in a video 🥰
Started out with the very best I see
good job
He end the video with Muladhara....Epic!!👍
The crisp look that a lot of these games on the list is bringing tears of joy to my eyes! Is this component to HDMI converter for a small monitor or pcsx2 on pc?
Judging by how crisp the image and textures are it's probably Pcsx2 on pc :)
Inuyasha : cursed mask was my first rpg.
What an unfortunate start.
@@Ragefat jjajaja
There are some cool looking games I overlooked I should try out the inyuasha game
12:11 Erick’s favourite game! 🤣
Also 8:10 XD
do you happen to have a list for ARPGs or AJRPGs? if possible in europe unless the prices are way too high
there were other SRPGs you included in other videos like trails in the sky on psp and a lot of other SRPG looking games across these vids but sad to disgaea getting left out, which could mean there may be other SRPGs that weren't included
very nice!
great video. thanks. miss stella deus ?
I think he must have not been including tactics titles.
This list is missing a few games like "Arc the Lad: Twilight of the spirits"
I need to try the Xenosaga trilogy.
More like Wikipedia: The Game. Amount of detailed explanation of the in-game technologies and events becomes quite overwhelming by the 3rd episode. But it's absolutely worth it.
I wish it'd gotten a New 3DS port. Would've made perfect sense.
a switch/ps4 remaster collection without censorship would of been even better but oh well.
Featuring dante from devil my cry series
can anyone tell me what is the very last song at the end of the video? i need to listen to the full track
any idea about ps2 games rpg
first chapter are on boat the main character wears a red headband and a master of magic and got 2 disciple 1 young boy and 1 teen girl, and then the boat suddenly got swallowed up and they are thrown back in time
Awesome list.
In my opinion, PS1 had a way better library of RPG's. It's the king!
May I ask what game cover is on the thumbnail? I'm not too familiar with PS2 and am just starting out. Thanks!
That's not a game cover. That's the character Aegis from Persona 3. She becomes the main character in the 40-hour sequel called Persona 3 The Answer.
To think that if you put all of these games in a folder, the size of that folder would still be smaller than an average XB1 Game!
Wild arms alter code f and suikoden series is my favourite...
i really need help, ive been trying to remember ps2 games about turn based game
the first level is on a ship and the first monster is if i remember correctly giant tentacle, then suddenly 3 protagonist are warp back to the past in a deserted island
3 protagonist = 1 magic sensei/teacher, 1 girl thats like the first apprentice, and 1 boy
and then there is a playable character more like side character a boy that plays a flute
the game is based on magical world and the enemy are all monster
thats what i remember, i vaguely remember the sensei wears a blue clothes and a red headband and thats it
I didnt know Front Mission 4 & 5 dont belong to the turn based JRPG Genre... Really expected them to be included here.
The golden era
0:47 I found the best one :P
100%
MS Saga is so damn good y’all. Mega Man X: Command Mission as well.
Which one is better
that game is tough as shit. i beat the dark wing zero with my last boost attack from my last fighter with low hp. close call for sure.
favorite turned based ps2 RPGs are: Final fantasy x, Valkyrie profile 2, dragon quest 8, grandia 3, person 3/4,
All of them great but Persuckna
Anyone know if any of these games had a dragon boss fight looking for a game unfortunately I don't remember the name all I know is that if u died u had to restart game
Wizardry was a great game!
Shadow Hearts covenants, the best rpg... hum game of PS2
Can't count how many times I completed Xenosaga trilogy .
I felt so bad that my favorite jrpg of all time Soul Nomad and The World Eater didn't make it into the list. -_-
also Disgaea too.
That is a Strategy JRPG. Different category.
MS Saga was a great game!
Props to you for putting the best game in the thumbnail.
Which game is she from? I think I missed it in the video if it popped up.
Djezza it is Aigis from Persona 3
Can you do such a list for the 3ds?
Knowing erick he's probably making one for every mainstream console
It’s this one rpg where the demo starts in like a forest or something and one of the characters fight with a volleyball can’t remember the name of it
waiting list psp turn based jrpg

You are a hero
I did not know Tsugunai Atonement.
It’s pretty cool!! Definitely unique.
It's a very different sort of game. A strange Atlus title.
You missed Magna Carta, surprising especially since you fairly recently streamed it.
It's from Korea. He probably doesn't consider it a JRPG.
almightycinder that’s true on both counts. Semantics *sigh*
I think I counted 24 that I own.
Wild Arms
So. Much. Nostalgia!! Seriously, ps2 era is my golden era for RPGs.
I wish they made more inuyasha games
missing 6 on this list
Two of my all-time favorite turn-based Japanese RPG's are Front Mission 4 & 5. Maybe they didn't get a NA release? I completed them with English patch via emulation - about 4 times each.
They did I have Front mission 4. I just think they fall under the Strategy RPG's like Disgaea and would not be included in this list.
I've never understood why the majority of rpg turn based are 3 or 4 members for battles (most of them 3)...
What's the difference between Persona 3 and Persona 3 fes. Which game is better to play?
@@guillermoluna2133 thank you very much
@@leonard9624
the two are practically the same the only difference is that Fes includes a larger Compedium of Persona and brings the Anwser Story starring Aigis
Damn it wish you had time stamps. I am looking for a specific game and want to skip all of this to find it.
ps 2 is the best generation for turn based rpgs
Yeah!!
Nadia likes the water thingy 💦
No, way more on the ps1.
Huh, i thought there would be more.
I have never hear anybody talk about jade cocoon.
I think you missed front mission 4.
Was nocturne on there? I probably missed it! 😂
first
NGL the ps2 Era was the best
*Alternative title: One of the best console generations for JRPGs period.*
The PS4 was a pretty damn good resurgence but it wasn't quite the deserved return to form/comeback that the PS1/PS2 era of games pretty much defined.
God fucking damnit. I wish my fuckin PS2 slim still worked. The bloody laser that reads the discs apparently died on me and something inside was scratching the discs so a bunch of my beloved PS1/PS2 that I used to play religiously back during my childhood is just collecting dust now and it FUCKIN SUCKS. So many games and JRPGs that I still have yet to play are on this system alone and it makes me depressed thinking about it now. I want to probably purchase a second-hand one from either Ebay but they're either so damn expensive or I can't find any decent, old-school game retailers that still sell classic PS2 games in general.
Eh, I'll still be on the lookout for any functional versions in the future so we'll see. Either way, great complete lists of some of the best JRPGs to come out throughout the past decades.
What game on the thumbnail?
Persona 3
What was the deleted video on this play list. The top 10 Jrpg on different platforms does any one remember what it was and why it was deleted
Ps2 era had so many experimental and perfect turn based games… then the PS3 era began and it all fell off a cliff.
This is because the PS3 introduced HD realistic graphics but at the exact same time, it cost a lot of money, time, and resources to develop these games.
There was not a lot of chances to have experimental games. The ones who succeeded were the ones that have been doing this since the PS1 era.
Square Enix came out with Final Fantasy 13 and straight up made two sequels to that game. They didn't even bother to make a mainline game after 13. They just returned to the area of Final Fantasy 13 and build off there.
@@TheFunnyWeasel1 I see
@@totallynotthebio-lizard7631 The people who developed the Wild Arms series came out with Wild Arms 3, 4, & 5.
But when the PS3 came around and it got turned out that producing high quality, high definition games that contained bigger detailed worlds required a higher amount of effort, time, resources, money, and labor-power, it was blatantly obvious that reputable small-time developers didn't have it in them to continue soldiering on. And as a result, they have quietly withdrew.
There's a reason why the PS2 had a massive library compared towards the PS3 when it came to the JRPGs. Sony gave out the signal of "you can make anything as long as the gamers (like you & me) enjoyed it".
14:52 how sad
Digital Devil Saga is best jrpg ever made.
What about Lord of the rings the 3rd age?
Noice
I completed 14/47 of these games, 14/30 if I only include games on here that I care about, excluding the more mediocre.
I wish I can collect these games on this day. I WANT TO HAVE 3 OR MORE COPIES OF EACH GAME COMPLETE WITH MANUAL AND IN MINT CONDITION! The Memorable RPGs of the 2000s!
The title of this video should be "complete list of games you purchased because the cover art looked amazing but when you started playing and got into the combat sections you thought to yourself 'what the fuck is this shit?'".
I got the same vibe a long time ago. I like playing the RPGs on the computer like Runescape and the lesser known MMORPGs but the JRPGs on the console were far different.
Top 100 ps2 rpgs:
1. Shadow Hearts: covenant
2. Shadow Hearts
3-99. Not Shadow Hearts
100. Shadow Hearts: from the new world
Magna Carta?
is corean
compilation
weird... didn't see FF11 nor FF12 here... :?
also star ocean
and kingdom hearts series?
i think PS2 has huge library of RPG. Kinda weird seeing this video only like 17 mins :?
I thought that too, but this list is only for turn-based
I have played Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana the same it released: 2005 up to 2006.
I don't like the Sphere Grid System from Final Fantasy X. 😑
fake news, didn't have the one i'm trying to find the name of.
