@@GreatAussieDrives I was hoping you could do around a trip to Bathurst or somewhere in the central west or if you can't do that cause I know you don't like long drives much maybe you could do like another drive to Newcastle or the new Northxenex Tunnel between the M1 and M2?
Thanks, I covered the trip to Bathurst in my Lithgow to Orange video here: ua-cam.com/video/CCcLTdvTCIM/v-deo.html (in addition to my Blue Mountains video between Penrith and Lithgow). I also have separate videos covering the drive from northern Sydney to Newcastle and the NorthConnex in both directions on my channel. Cheers
This wasn't just a for-fun video, this was actually an in-depth guide to get from the Blue Mountains to the City. But it was also very enjoyable to watch. Thank you!
I don’t really get why they dropped the speed limit on the first part of the west link from 70km to 60km. Even though it is now a 3-2 config the lanes still feel ultra wide and There is virtually now difference when I am driving.
I know this road so well. I note we drive very similar with our lane choices! You got lucky with old Bathurst Road lights in Blaxland- I seem to always get caught by those!
Great drive, I see you also jumped at the chance to film the new Smart Motorway on the M4, I filmed it westbound a few weeks ago. Confused me a little bit why they didn't extend it a km or two up to Russell Street but I guess the bridge over the Nepean being 2 lanes each way may have stopped that.
Just a suggestion, the trip from the mountains Katoomba going inland to Mt Hoffam, going through Thredbo. It is worth the trip before the snow. I was a passenger listening to Red Hot Chilli Peper the whole time. It’s the sort of music as it is scary going up to Hoffam not much room for errors. Just a thought. We went through East Gippsland to Victoria from Hoffam.
I'm not sure its possible to upgrade the existing road to motorway standards. That being said, there have been various proposals to build a new motorway over the mountains (with varying degrees of seriousness), generally using the Bells Line of Road corridor, and I think its an excellent idea given the amount of cars and freight that pass through daily!
In Britain some "smart motorways" have had the hard shoulder/breakdown lane permanently taken out of use. This had led to several fatal accidents which would have otherwise been avoided. As a result there have been countless campaigns to have them reinstated.
I recommend popping into McDonald's every time you are in the Blaxland area. I live in Bathurst and travel into Sydney a few times a year and every time I pop into Macca's in Blaxland on the way. And on the M4 on the way home.
Looking back at this video and what a great drive! If all exits that you listed in the video were using IC (interchange) and JCT (junction) ramp name in Japan and South Korea, this is what exit would call in Japan and South Korea. What do you think of the name of the IC and JCT ramp name listed below? For reference, IC means connection between motorway/expressway and non-motorway/non-expressway and JCT means connection between expressway/motorway to another expressway/motorway. Here's the list: 5:17: Emu Plains IC 5:40: Penrith IC 6:21: Windsor IC 7:34: St Marys IC 8:52: Light Horse JCT 8:57: Eastern Creek IC 9:40: Blacktown IC 10:06: Seven Hills IC 11:02: Wentworthville IC 11:57: Parramatta IC 12:16: Hornsby IC 12:50: Silverwater IC 13:06: Sydney Olympic Park IC 13:27: Ryde IC 13:34: Concord IC 15:01: Sydney/Summer Hill IC
Yes, but the City West Link is still A4 for now - I explain why at 15:32. It will become A44 in the near future when the Rozelle Interchange opens and the new signage was put up in anticipation of that.

Hey mate it's me again can I Request a video please?
Hi mate, fire away - I can't made any promises but I'll see what I can do :)

Like in both directions but I was mostly hoping you could do a trip to Bathurst

This has to be the best driving video I’ve seen in ages, the level of editing and accurate information is commendable. Well done!
Thanks mate!
I don't know what it is but the transition from the A32 to the M4 is soo cool. Going from a rural Highway to a freeway
Nice! Any Blue Mountains drive is always good to see
This wasn't just a for-fun video, this was actually an in-depth guide to get from the Blue Mountains to the City. But it was also very enjoyable to watch. Thank you!
The M-4 is a slick motorway. I really liked the interchange between the M-4 and the M-7.
FunFact: The Sydney Tower Eye is the tallest structured tower in the city :3
Awesome. The tunnels there are so much longer than the ones here in California in my videos. Thanks for sharing.
great video, and a great taste in music!
Thanks mate!

The Music Fits The Mood So Well
Nice drive. Been a long while since I've been down the M4.

Yeah, it's an interesting decision - I think it was just a matter of the traffic volumes on Russell Street not being enough to justify the upgrade
Real powerful sound track to drive to.

Do you think the a32 should be upgraded to motorway standard coming out of the blue mountains?

Waterfall Way near Dorrigo I've been told is an excellent joyride, for having lush forests of rainforests and tall Eucalyptus forests.
Yeah, I've driven it once before and it was absolutely fantastic. It's definitely on the list of routes I want to record!
You should do a video of the entire old pacific hwy route from Sydney to Brisbane or at least Newcastle

Yeah that seems like a band aid solution at best. Fortunately the M4 smart motorway keeps its hard shoulders!
seemed like a fast drive...passing all those cars
Plus the toll between clyde and auburn
2 suggestions.
Abercrombie Road Goulburn to Oberon
B88 Picton Road
Abercrombie road has a very tight turn as tight as the Macquarie Pass.
Thanks! Abercrombie is one of my favourite drives close to Sydney, so I fully intend to do a Bathurst to Goulburn via Oberon video in the future!
@@GreatAussieDrives Please do. Its such a great road.

Yeah the Blaxland Maccas is great
@@GreatAussieDrives Thank you!
I really like this trip, but the bit after east tunnels is a bit conjested. Even that isn't too bad.
I just don’t get why the speed limit in Anzac Bridge is only 60
I'm going on the Great Western Highway between Bathurst and Lapstone and the M4 Western Motorway between Lapstone and Parramatta tomorrow!
UPDATE, It, unfortunately, won't happen because unfortunately, plans changed :(
UPDATE AGAIN! I'm going to drive these roads when this lockdown is over!
UPDATE AGAIN! I'm going on all of these roads on Friday!

I think its an interesting idea, though I personally still prefer the current arrangement of naming exits after the streets they exit onto.
I’m in the blue mountains :0
beautiful
How's the traffic always good when u drive
Thanks mate! I usually try to record only in the off-peak when there isn't much congestion.
thanks! how much is this sped up ? what speed do i have to play it to be real time?
The motorway portions of the video are sped up by 3x, and the highway portions by 2.8x.
I love how the speedometer is censored because he's going about 10 over and doesn't want to get booked
🤫🤫
I guess you could say… this was caught in 4K (sry lol)
The sign in 15:24 says A44 not A4
Yes, but the City West Link is still A4 for now - I explain why at 15:32. It will become A44 in the near future when the Rozelle Interchange opens and the new signage was put up in anticipation of that.
Thanks. Love any driving vids. I know, I'm a weirdo lol. (Tbh, I didn't like the music, not my taste, but otherwise, loved it)
