i realized now why arnel is reaping success...its because even times were so hard then when one can turn to stealing or selling drugs to earn money, he didnt go there...remained hopeful that God will help him and He did repay him BIG TIME!you're really an inspiration to all!more power arnel!JOURNEY RULES!!!

@karinamaq @karinamaq A lot of the Filipinos grew up with TV shows in the Phil featuring local shows as well as American TV shows in English . . . . from Sesame Street to 'Heroes' to Desperate Housewives etc. That is why there is a prevalence of a mix in the language of both English and Tagalog. Plus Arnel performed for years overseas (Hong Kong) which is a former British terrritory. He has to be versatile and became good at it.

i think the biggest difference i've seen moving to the US is that over here, people don't like whiny people. poor me, woe is me... they like success stories, with "humble" beginnings. they talk about those "humble" times for a bit, then focus on the success and how they achieved it. at home, we like delving into the SAD story. oh his success is a gift from God, it's not the person, it's God. But he lived such a sad, sad life. A sad... sad life. I think it's funny now. But it's true. admittedly.

We are born with our own's island dialect w/c every island has a local language but the medium of instruction at school are Pilipino(tagalog) and English (influence of World War 2).We Filipinos have different language,culture and beliefs.Mr.Pineda and Ms.Cuneta are Tagalogs but for me I speak Ilonggo w/c is my dialect.Now, I'm living here in Japan and speak 4 languages which is really more confusing !

When i mentioned to my husband about Arnel being the new member of journey hindi sya nasurprise.He's been travelling China,Hongkong and some part of Asia for 15 years because of his job and sabi nya Filipinos are the best singers daw especially sa Hongkong.
