Definitely British came to loot India. But they captured political power due to powerlessness of Indian rulers who were not united. Comparatively British colonialism was more tolerable than other Europeans because they gave governace, modern education, modern institutions, brought to light India's past glory, science, technology, besides social reform. But in no way their economic loot can be justified.
