Thantis is my favorite commander of all times. Sadly, i don't own it yet, but i really like this approach. I hadn't thought about the Courts in there, but they seem really good. I like to use the vow/impetus cards because they soft remove a dangerous creature, like a BS Colossus or any of the sort. As well, I can recommend the Bow of Nylea and Whip of Erebos, since people will attack you so you sacrifice Thantis or your attack forcers. In the aspect of removal/board wipe, I like to use Ezuri's predation. More often than not, you'll end up with a good amount of wolves to keep attacking. Lastly, in the side of lands, it'strue that many of them don't make bigger impact, but i can't recommend enough the Swarmyard and Shinka. The first one gives your commander regeneration, which will often need due to spot/mass removal or even early big creatures. The second allows you to block safely with your commander, giving it First Strike, so it's usually safe of dying even against Deathtouchers. Finally, one Good card over all would be Asceticism. Thantis will be a target very often on the battlefield, or your other creatures that matter. This enchantment will provide you with good protection and regeneration. VOid, I will try your deck with some things of mine and see how it goes. Thanks for starting this (possible) series with my most meaningful commander. Keep doing good!
@@stigmurder99 indeed, I am in Ecuador and haven't had the chance of finding one over here... I wanna try shipping it (I've never done it) but with more cards... Seems like a waste to pay only for a cheap card
Awesome deck tech! I built Thantis a few months ago and she's exceeded all of my expectations. I wanted a fun and casual deck to break the ice with new people, so I built her with a turbo fog/gifts theme in hopes of making a strong ally across the table. Considering most of the deck is built to benefit my opponents in some way or another, I never thought she'd secure as many wins as she has. I couldn't recommend her enough. She's a blast to build and to pilot.
@@jschleter254 hey man. So it's ok, I just feel like no matter what direction I take it (slug vs forced combat) my playgroup super hates me haha so I become the archenemy fast. I figured since I wasn't going after one person in particular, I'd have better odds. I still like the deck, I think it's very unique, but I'm tempted to take it apart. I've been thinking about an evil daarigaz deck, or a yurlock mana burn deck. Or maybe I can just retune the thantis deck.
Thantis is one of my favorite personal decks to play but funny enough my playgroup hates it! Just a heads up for people considering a thantis build: changing the rules of the game can is subject to taste and some people really dislike not having their usual defense options haha. My two cents from playing Thantis 1) vigilance/seedborn muse effects are especially useful. When everyone is turning creatures sideways, you want to be the player with blockers. 2) you don't need a bunch of other effects that force combat/goad included in your build when Thantis is your commander (you'll always have access to thantis so the redundancy doesn't give much added benefit). Better to use those slots to protect your big spider (cuz those counters build up fast and make for a valuable weapon). Warmonger hellkite is the only reitteration of that effect that I run. Great build, Void! We have a bunch of overlapping all-star cards. WASABI! This video was fun
Awesome ideas from both of you guys and looking through my own Thantis deck I recommend a few cards. Ancient stone idol is always an all star in my meta because I never pay more than like 4 to play it, one of my personal pick is Vaevictis asmadi, the dire he adds a little bit of chaos and he’s a removal by himself most of the time. One of the funniest way to punish someone if they try to get rid of Thantis I added to my deck is Fling, so simple and then so useful for a deck like this, in the same way I run Chandra’s ignition cuz in a game where Thantis only have 4 +1/+1 counters on her it can clear the entire board and let her finish the job later in the game. Due to lack of blockers from my opponents I play Virtus and Gorm especially for Virtus in the early game where he can really surprise someone who thinks they are out of range by halving their hp. Between a few other favorites of mine I play quest for renewal for pseudo vigilance to all my creature, stigma lasher to permanently deprive someone of gaining life (in the best scenarios the three of them), embercleave and godeternal rhonas for finisher and again due to lack of blockers Hydra Omnivore is an absolute monster in that deck. If there is damage doublers on the table it can one shot peoples easily by attacking even one open player. Good video and great ideas again from both of you I will certainly go through some of the cards you guys mentioned to see what could fit my preferences for my dear Thantis !!
I think you could make an argument for cursed totem. It’s a stax piece on the surface, but a lot of creatures activated abilities require tapping them which is going to make them unable to attack. If you don’t let them tap to activate abilities, then thantis makes them have to attack
Sorry, one other thing I was wondering, with the new mana value ruling, is that if I play a card like muse vortex, if I pay x=6, if I hit another x spell with it can I cast that x spell with x= Andy thing below 6? Idk if that makes sense but I would really appreciate help. Thanks!
107.3b If a player is casting a spell that has an {X} in its mana cost, the value of X isn’t defined by the text of that spell, and an effect lets that player cast that spell while paying neither its mana cost nor an alternative cost that includes X, then the only legal choice for X is 0. This doesn’t apply to effects that only reduce a cost, even if they reduce it to zero.
Vraevictis Asmadi, farsight mask, erebo's whip, chandra's ignition, infernal genesis, moldervine reclamation, genesis chamber, gift of doom, ALPHA AUTHORITY, blessing of leeches, rise of dread marn, deadly brew all make awesome inclusions for Thantis, wich is not a mantis :)

How has the deck been playing? Have you made any other changes?

Love Thantis...very underrated and lots of fun...Void...great deck tech!
Looks very cool. Planning to do a similar deck with saskia, the unyielding so great inspiration!
Good idea for video series
