that's definitely slash in the video. As far as his voice goes, yeah, it's sounds kind of weird. But it's like everyone's voice: when there's a lot of noise in the background and your trying to talk above the noise, your voice naturally gets higher.

He might be loosing his voice, It could be rather hard to hear peoplen talk so thier constantly screaming when they talk, that's my voice sounds like when that happens.
