I went to the municipal dump yesterday and looked at the machines there. It is shameful how good some of the appliances are and I bet most of them just need a bit of TLC and a few cheap components. The alternative is mining, pollution, more plastics and what for?

Thanks for sharing this , I’ve replaced lots of this type of thermal overload but never had a look inside one . Great video 👍🏻🇬🇧

Thanks for watching! The ones inside electric showers fail often.

Well done, well worth fixing :-D
A decent quality machine and it was very cheap.
I've seen those thermostats/cutouts in fan heaters/washing machines and tumble dryers.

It is a really nice machine, it feels good quality inside.. very solid. Never seen one of those thermostats fail shorted but perhaps you never do as the house has probably burned down!!! Makes you wonder how the trigger temperature creeps over time..... Thanks for watching.

I've replaced the thermostat twice now and it keeps blowing, so I now assume it's the controller on the board, do you know where the controller is situated on the board ? Thank you

That is strange. Send me a picture listing or part number of the thermostat that you are using... ark.mail@gmx.com

I a man working on my AEG washing machine which would not power up. On inspection I changed the off line chip LNK364GN and the machine worked for about 2 months before the same fault surfaced again so I changed the LNK again but now the machine works until you power it off as normal but then will not power back up until you change the LNK chip again. Have you ever had this type of failure or can suggest where to look as chinging the chip every time I want to use it is not an option...lol

I should have added that the resistors were within range and also changed the 400v 22uf capacitor and the diode checked ok.

Usually the LNK304GN does not fail without taking out several other components. They don't really go intermittent. They just blow their top or vent gasses. It could be that a dry joint on the controller is the root cause and the LNK chip was just a red herring and what fixed it was disturbing an bad connection. Have a look at my AEG EHO error repair video. You will see what to look for. Please like and subscribe.

Thank you for the reply and after watching your AEG tumble drier video you suggested I took out the control board again done another check but after seeing your video with the poor soldered joints I decided to resolder some although they looked good as a last ditch attempt......well the washing machine has powered up again so I am holding my breath in that it's now sorted....so thank you for the heads up in showing how AEG boards may have some poor soldered joints.

Hi, I know you like a challenge. In the past, you helped me get my washer/dryer going again. Still running perfectly today. Eternally grateful. New problem. I have an obsolete electric wall heater controller that seems to have stopped working for no particular reason. Creda PWE4ZC has no display and seems dead. Any ideas?
