  • We start the installation of the American Autowire Factory Fit harness off with a review of the features and benefits of the kit. The kit comes complete with everything you need to install the harness short of the one wire alternator. We also show how to remove the lock set from the ignition of a '65-'68 Ford product as well as how to take the light switch out and safely remove the old harness.

Remember Jeff, they're never a piece of junk. They're a "diamond in the rough"! As always I look forward to your videos. Thumbs up guys!
P.S.While it wasn't a '65, my parents used to tow a 15' Skamper pop up camper with their '67 convertible (which was new!).

Older video, but...I just found it. :) The Auto Resto Mod Guys are pretty awesome.
I want to add a shameless plug for AAW. I've used about 10 of their kits, both the Factory Fit and Classic Update kits. The results are %100, every time, for me.
The instructions are well laid out and concise, Do this...then this...then this...just follow along on the sheets. If there's an issue or question, their Customer Service is beyond great and only a phone call away.
M&H is a comparable option today, but AAW gained my loyalty 11 years ago with a high quality product. The rest pale in comparison. Painless...isn't, really, unless you're familiar with wiring and reading line drawings. Ron Francis is ok if you're wiring a street rod or a tractor. The rest...don't bother unless you know something about DC wiring.
AAW is pricier than others, but the best value for your money, IMHO. /soapbox :)

We hope to Monty, Jeff hurt his shoulder on July 5th helping someone with their vehicle and we may have to back up one week. Keep your fingers crossed that he heals quickly.

So far pretty good Monty. We'll be doing the Classic Instruments 5-dial cluster with tach in the episode after the dash wiring install.

Yes you are right JK. Jeff has been sentenced to a corner of the shop to write 100 times "It ain't junk, it's a project" with a crayon.

No restoration is complete without multiple hack jobs by the previous owner.

I just ripped out all the wiring on my 64.5. Any thoughts as to cost to rewire the entire car? Going through a complete restore.

National Parts Depot has the whole early harness www.npdlink.com. Check them and see. I'm not sure what the cost will be but you'll be looking at at least $600.

The switch is larger on the '67, so it might be an issue. Nobody wants that harness. It was super trashed.

I took the exterior door handles off of my 1971 mach 1, they look like chromed billet aluminum but they have bursted metal bubbles all over them and holes in them are pretty deep, do u have an idea of what i'm talking about? if you do, do you know how to restore the handles?

I'm going through the same (probably worse) wiring mess with my 67. I'm glad I have a name for the person that ruined the next 6 months of my life!
