    Bro your advice about upgrading the suspension, stabilizer and brakes is the most reasonable thing Ive heard a youtuber say its honestly the best way to build out a new bike. Definitely going to follow that advice for the next bike!

      Thanks bro, just trying to share and be honest about what I’ve been dealing with. I can’t wait to get the r7 up and running again, hopefully I get the parts before the next track day

    Thanks for sharing Scout. I've never been to a track, so its interesting to see the challenges and how you overcome them. Both awesome bikes for sure!

    Solid advice on what to upgrade first. I’ve wasted a lot of money on this and that over the years before I realized suspension and brakes are paramount.

      thanks man, yeah defiantly a hard lesson. its so easy to just buy the cool gear and not focus on what we actually need

    The more I hear about the ZX4RR, the more I understand that it is a great all around bike. Great for track and street! Its in between the Ninja 400 and ZX6R with ergo's similar to the Ninja 400. Bummer about the R7 and the front tire plus rebound on the fork. I can say that the front tire sliding has a puckering effect. Had it happen on my Ninja 400 with gravel in a corner at slow speed on the street and it's not fun! Will be interested in your video's updating the R7 and hopefully you can get something to help with the suspension on front and rear! Still glad you had a good afternoon ride on the ZX4RR!
    Riding with Josh Herrin is going to be awesome. Watching him race in MotoAmerica is really cool. Just his tips alone will be worth it!

      I really is, with some money spent on changing the ergos it would be awesome imo. Hopefully I can get the parts for the r7 quickly and get it back out there for the next track day 🤞🏼.. but yea man getting to pick his brain is going to be totally worth it

    Thanks for the video and I can't wait for the update. I use my R7 mainly for track and have done minimal mods. I have seen most of your R7 videos. After watching this video, I'm kind of glad I waited on some of the upgrades I wanted to do (exhaust, Tail tidy, etc.). This video makes me glad I waited as you noted, after the track you would have done suspension upgrades first. That being said, what suspension upgrades are you going with (brand/model)? I'm still on the fence about it, mainly because I don't know if I would be able to get the most out of an aftermarket suspension vs the one that comes with it (at least for a rider of my skills (novice/intermediate). So I'm anxiously waiting for your update. Keep up the awesome vids.

      Hey Jerri thank you! I’m going to start with just changing the fork oil this weekend to see if that will be enough instead of buying the inserts 🤞🏼then maybe springs for my weight. If I don’t get anywhere with that they I’ll look at the cartridges. Van from sport bike track gear dropped some in his r7 that were good and I’m sure the ohlins would be a good option as well just not sure if we need to spend the money on the gas’s filled ones or not

    Nice one Scout... Looks like some tasty new Öhlins forks might be in your future... Not to put any idead into your head or anything... But Öhlins forks... Or Öhlins forks subliminal messange you... But if your stock forks aren't up to the task any more... You may have to Öhlins forks... I mean... I heard that bikes aren't even ridable without Öhlins fork...
    But anyway... Have an Öhlins forks week...

    Bummer on the R7, yeah on a track I wouldn't want any electronic aids because exactly that they mess with you in a critical time where you need to commit and let it hang out but that's just me, I'll bet if they were turned off you probably would have made the turn just fine maybe a bit puckered but going off the track can be even more of a chance to crash. Slipper clutch is the only thing I'd want on the track. 🤙

    • @ScoutsOut
      @ScoutsOut  11 місяців тому +2

      Yea man kinda sucked but it is what it is. I got all the parts on order I just hope I get them all by the next track day. I agree man if the abs wasn’t triggering I would have not gotten nervous and would have just made the turn and yea man especially with these smaller bikes the only thing I want is the slipper

    How about the next track day without putting on the new ohlin parts for the r7 so we gain get a baseline comparison?

    • @ScoutsOut
      @ScoutsOut  11 місяців тому

      Definitely, I’ve spent too much money lately so I have to chill on the spending for a little. I’m going to get some new tires and replace some of the parts for the rear wheel.

      @@ScoutsOut that’s a bummer you had some issues. I been working with Dave moss trying to dial in my suspension. He wants me to change the fork oil soon to a different weight.
      Also have you tried the Pirelli Diablo rosso 4 tires? I’ve been having good luck with them. But never tried the dunlops.

    • @ScoutsOut
      @ScoutsOut  11 місяців тому

      Yea man kinda frustrating but once I get the bike back together I’ll mess with it some more. Oil can make a big difference. I haven’t tried the 4’s but there is a deal on the 3’s, I’m going to get them installed today, I’ve liked them a lot in the past

  • @EdwinDover
    @EdwinDover 11 місяців тому +1

    Nice! Sucks you had issues with the R7. I haven't run into any issues with braking even with the stock pads, do you have steel lines?

    • @ScoutsOut
      @ScoutsOut  11 місяців тому

      Yea kinda sucked, as for the brakes I just bought new pads and steel lines just haven’t installed them yet. The only time the stock brakes start bothering me is about 20min in on the track, they just get to hot and start to get a little squishy

  • @Gimpthulhu

      @@ScoutsOut Merry Christmas my friend. When I get my ninja 400 back and start track days I will end up doing a cartridge swap and get it set up for my weight. Cheaper than ohlins and will provide the adjustability I want.

    Hey man just wondering if theres any way to move the Dash up on the R7 as its tucked away which is fine..if there weren't any cables in the way but what would you do? is moving the cables a bad thing or was there a way to move the dash a little higher

    • @ScoutsOut
      @ScoutsOut  11 місяців тому

      I’m sure you could move it up slightly if you made a bracket but the wiring will probly only go so far. As for the cable I wouldn’t try and move it it might restrict its function

    Are you planning anything to make the ergos on the 4RR more aggressive? If so, what are the best options for that?

    • @ScoutsOut
      @ScoutsOut  11 місяців тому +1

      Probly later on yea, for the most part clip one and rear sets should do the trick and maybe a raised seat.

      Yeah I can confirm even on the street, the pegs of the ZX-4RR are a bit low. I virtually never touch pegs with the old ZXR400, but with the ZX-4RR I did on the first ride after break-in.

    I meant to mention this in your last video but I forgot. Yoshimura just released a bunch of new parts specifically for a track oriented R7. There are a few parts that change suspension geometry. Have you looked into these parts? If their pro rider felt these changes made a significant improvement I'd definitely say they are worth considering.
