While I wasn't a huge fan of Samurai 7 when I watched it, because I think it dragged on a bit, I do thank you for talking about these criminally underrated anime. The CG of the mechs in Samurai 7 reminds me of Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo. Have you seen that one?
I can see possible issues with the pacing as they did make a 26 episode series out of a 3.5 hour movie which might require a little bit of stretching. On a brighter note, I thank you for enjoying my works, as the entire goal of this channel was to talk about stuff other people seemed not be be. I love the obscure and wish to shine a light on its hidden gems! I have not seen Gankutsuou, but after looking it up online, it is definitely going on the potential future retrospectives list!
Its definitely up there! I love how even though almost the entire sound track is based on traditional music of the past, they still decided to use an amazing modern piece to through us right into the action.
Interesting, I never got into this show, but was an avid fan of the film it drew basic inspiration from as well as most of Kurosawa's work that I grew up with. Perhaps I should give this show another go.
I would recommend it, as it is a very unique experience with its origins as a remake and what not. Its fascinating how they walked the line of originality (with the setting, new character quirks, a few new characters, and a little bit of extra plot) and accuracy (with the same general plot, morals, themes, and characters) and seemed to do a very good job doing so. I found it fun to bounce between "that's a cool new thing!" and "Just like in the movie!" while watching this series and overall am impressed with how accurate it is to the source material without being a shot for shot remake.
I don’t think is necessary but…if they are planning to remake this, the only way to do justice to this show it’s to animate it in the style of studio Ghibli 🤔

channel needs more exposure, this is good stuff
Thank you! Thank you! It makes me happy to shine a light on forgotten works deserving of more love.
Awesome video 👏
Thanks! I'm glad my content is of a decent quality considering how low budget it is.

I think calling anime's setting a Japanese take on dieselpunk would be more accurate
I didn't think of that! It is a bit more futuristic than conventional steam punk though so that does make sense!

It would be amazing to see what this show could look like with a high budget and a lot of hand drawn animation!
