Great video to guide strategy as we move into summer. Decision-making videos like this are really useful, as I think that's the most difficult part of bass fishing. I'm heading out for 3 fishing days next week after having been off the water for a month so the timing of this video was perfect.
I’d like to throw in shallow grass cover in hot summer. Bass on our lake had been very strong off shore. However 2 days of heavy overcast and sporadic light rain filled up some of these shallow grass areas. Main lake mid and lower. The shallower bass were the biggest. Veg was coontail.
Thanks for another great video! I never miss them. I watched you past two live videos and put what you did to work for me. I went out today on a lake I knew very little about. I caught 5 smallmouth on an old road bed that I saw when the lake was low. But I watched a bunch of fish follow my bait on Livescope and not hit. I decided to use my Garmin mapping contour and start 😊mapping and graphing. After about 3 hrs I found a steep drop off that had a ton of fish. I could see them on down imaging but the 2d sonar showed several nice fish. I wrecked them. I ended up catching 33 smallmouth bass with several over 18 inches. What you teach is valuable info and you system works anywhere!!! Thanks again🎣😊
Great video! My lake normally doesn't have any heavy cover for frogging, but with water levels rising a few feet here the last few weeks (ATX), some of the shoreline weeds are now under 1-3+ft with their tops sticking up. Should I use a frog to target these thicker shoreline areas or maybe a jig/t-rig?
Oklahoman here. No BS, just came back from a trip where I caught an 11.8 and a 13 back to back on the same ledge. They’re schooling in the right places….
It depends on the lake. I’m assuming you’re fishing a smaller lake if you’re catching 10+ pounders. Smaller lakes warm up faster and will be ahead of deeper, clearer lakes like Tenkiller. The point of the video was not to say there are no fish on Ledges in Oklahoma. I just wanted to explain the process for finding post-spawn bass when the majority of bass are not on ledges yet.
@@FishtheMoment didn’t mean to sound like I was calling BS on you. Meant no BS that I caught 2 double digit fish in 2 casts on the same ledge. They were fired up on deep diving cranks
I have a Navionics card in my Garmin and a Lakemaster Card in a small 5” humminbird. Sometimes the Lakemaster card is better than Navionics or viseversa so I run both.
Hey Johnny Do you have a lake brake down of RL Harris reservoir? Known as Lake Wedowee in Alabama! I’m trying to learn how to off shore fish! Tired of b beating the bank
Out of you and Jimmy, who is the top and who is the bottom? Lol. Im only kidding. The videos on your channels have helped me out on Watts Bar the last few times ive gone. Thanks.
Great stuff Johnny. But how do you make Navi Web app useful when it’s so different then other mapping like Lakemaster? I’m comparing them right now on a Major lake tournament lake. So not old scans.
You need to selected “sonar charts.” There should be a circle with the Navionics logo you can click in the bottom right corner of the web app the change it.
I saw the ridge on side imaging and then regraphed it with Down Imaging and 2D sonar and saw fish all over it. I showed the sonar screenshots in the video.
I feel like somethings gone wrong with the Deep Dive app. The new features are great, but the algorithm has gotten too strict. All thru May (prime fishing with a ton of baits) it was only recommending me 1-2 baits all day. Last year it was giving many more recommended options.
We are working on that right now. When we added section of lake to the map, it’s narrows down the patterns more, but too much in a lot of cases. We are playing around with several options. Before the Section of Lake update, we we showing too many patterns in a lot of cases, so we just need to find the sweet spot!
I live in Oregon where there are no shad or any baitfish really. You literally go around a lot of these lakes and see zero fish. I don't think these videos really apply to Oregon rezos.

Very informative and timely. Water that I fish is in the low 70s right now.

That’s awesome! I’m glad the videos are helpful!
Excellent video, you are a great teacher.
Sonar shots are extremely helpful!
Y’all should come out with a hover rig minnow Elaz tech plastic sold body bait
Don't forget to do a Garmin setting video 😉
Excellent! I enjoy your videos...........all the time! Thank you!
Great video man!!! You just saved me a lot of time.
Thank you for sharing the knowledge

The more Jonny in these videos the better..
Great video, keep up the good work!
Mike Swofford Great video
Very useful and good info , thank you 👍
As always, great video...
My offshore skills suck and I want to get better and I feel like my livescope makes me less patient .
Great stuff Jonny

Love the video. Thanks so much. What is the mapping cards that you use in your graph. Thanks

6:47 those look more like crappies to me how theyre stacked vertically.
What keyed you in on the shallow rock ridge? Sidescan or surface action? Mapping?

Thanks. I'm trying to learn this on rayburn and toledo now that I'm retired your videos really help the learning curve.
How do you decide between throwing a swing head or a shakey head?
Both would probably work. I just like throwing a swing head because I can throw it easier on a baitcaster.
