Why does everything look SO CGI? The sets, the dwarfs, animals, the apple.
bruh what did you expect it’s a live action you think they could’ve gotten actual animals to go up to her? No so of course cgi had to be used. Half of the time the set will be cgi because of different scenes. And I think the apple is real but it think it’s cgi when she dips it into the cauldron. The only thing that I agree with is the dwarfs they look so cgi and I wished they had hired actual dwarf people instead

I just love how Disney refused to hire actual dwarf actors for this movie. So much for inclusivity lol (this is Peter Dinklage’s fault, I know).

@@Hunterese123 so, from what I read, Dinklage was in a podcast around the time the movie got announced and ranted about how the movie was going to hire dwarves and that he claimed it felt “backwards”. Apparently Disney responded to this by saying that they won’t hire dwarf actors and instead make them CGI or “magical creatures” or whatever. This ended up backfiring because a good sum of the dwarf community got very pissed with Dinklage and they claimed that this inadvertently got them out of a lot jobs and some dwarf actors would have taken the roles. So yeah in a sense it’s kind of his fault (the fact that he hasn’t really responded to the backlash makes me wonder if he regrets it or not)
all this "inclusion" is leading to a lot of exclusion haha

Hmm? As far as I’m aware, Walt wasn’t the original writer of Snow White.
While I agree this _does not look very good_ , Walt's Snow White was essentially a remake of an earlier 1916 silent film based on the fairy tale. In some instances, Walt took shots directly from the film... I'm almost certain that film's director J. Searle Dawley was probably "rolling like crazy from beyond the grave" when his film was turned into a cartoon. This new film is simply another link in the evolutionary chain of stories being retold in new mediums for new generations.
Yeah, but it didn't matter as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs become a massive and beloved success to millions upon millions of people around the world, it is *the* very first animated film in history.
This remake is already gonna destroy its legacy with its changes.

@@liamphibia exactly thank you I love how they think bringing up the fairytale is and make it look like this is this is acceptable when it’s not because we’re not talking about the Grims we’re talking about the 1937 Disney animated classic that was being rated or supposedly being remade, this is a disaster on every level.

When J. R. R. Tolkien sold the movie rights for "Lord of the Rings," he did so forbidding Disney from ever being involved.
He said, "As long as it was possible to veto anything from or influenced by the Disney studios..."

@@benwasserman8223this isn’t about new line. New Line had only been around for two years when Tolkien sold the rights, and Disney was the one on his radar, especially since they had a reputation for animation, and animation was the only likely way to adapt the books at that time.

@@user-jt1js5mr3f Yes but when did Tolkien say this? Because between the 40s-60s, Disney was at the height of its power. Then there was a 20+ year gap for its dark aged period before the Renaissance era kicked off. So this isn’t the burn you think it is.

He had a renowned respect for fairy tales, and Disney had a habit of diluting them into soft things for children.
New Line had no such reputation, catalogue, or existence in the times he had formed these opinions (though it suffered from also sharing with WB and MGM)
Obviously he wouldn’t have looked on the hobbit trilogy favorably, but it doesn’t make the statements about Disney any less true.

Lord of the Rings is a trash trilogy with uncompelling characters (Mary, Pippen, etc.), an uninspired plot (insignificant hero saves the day against the big bad), and a snail's pace. Thank goodness Disney didn't buy the rights of those movies. That trilogy is so overrated.
Spot on analysis! The teaser trailer leans into nostalgia for the original animated Snow White to sell live new action film adaption. This is meant to switch the narrative to lead actresses past PR blunders.
It was 30 seconds. The clip they showed of her telling dawves to clean and knowing the history of actress is not going go over well. She does sweep for a second.

@@QueenAvacado remake is modern form of re-release. Since home video exists, people won't go to watch re-release. remake makes it a new film in a way so people watch it.

the camera shots in this trailer are pure magic. the last shot with the deer, the camera pulls back and the titles come in from behind. sooooo good.

One of the biggest problems with the casting for this movie is who I their right mind would believe that the woman who played Wonder Woman is less attractive than Rachel Ziegler. I mean at least don't cast one of the most beautiful people on the planet.

We don't even know what they had reshot. The same problem with Rachel Zegler is what happened with Ezra Miller. Except, for some crazy reason, they had released The Flash after the controversy.

I was at the D23 presentation and they showed the full sequence for "Whistle While You Work." I totally understand why they cast Rachel Ziegler. She...can...sing. She looks good in the outfit and hair too. All of this doesn't mean the film will be good, but casting Ziegler was a good choice.

The art direction looks pretty solid. Rachel is an OK pick for Snow White, yet she's completely overshadowed by the evil queen. The reimagining of the song I don't mind, I just don't like the belting, lacks in softness and femininity. I'm sad they did not open positions for actual short actors and did creepy CGI instead. Actually, even the deer movements are uncanny.

I don't think there is any need for CGI dwarfs. Little actors get very few enough gigs as is.
Secondly, I feel Gal Gadot is objectively better looking than Rachel Zegler.
At least with the recent Kristen Stewart/ Charlise Theron version the was a slight debate about it.

I just really hope they don’t cut Someday my Prince Will Come, it’s too iconic of a tune to not include but usually it would be the one teased in a trailer but they went with Whistle While You Work, an equally great song, but I think you can look below the surface and see why they chose to tease with that song instead of the more hopeless romantic ones… 🧐

Ignoring all the usual critism, I dont like how it feels like an epic superhero avengers trailer with how it hypes itself. Moana 2 also had a similar bizarre vibe. Its meant to be a classic disney princess fairy tale, but instead it makes you think captain america is going to cameo
I hate the music, particularly this choppy "dunn-dunn-dunn-dunn" style of music that they use in all their trailers. Did the same thing in the Skeleton Crew trailer. To me, it audibly just doesn't sound good at all.
Very glad there’s more color this time around. The dwarfs look like the og movie which is also good. Yet they look off… more like glass garden nomes now that I think about it🤨

I think Charlize Theron did a much better job portraying the evil queen, she was evil and beautiful, but this one she doesn't look that evil and not that beautiful. Charlize Theron was both evil and beautiful, in my opinion.
Marc Webb as director is a surprising choice. Gal Gadot looks like she'll nail the Queen as a Disney villain. Rachel Zegler is an interesting choice for Snow White herself. I'm just hoping that the CGI is not too heavy on this movie. As one who grew up watching the original, I am curious as to what they will do with Snow White.
Where are all the original new creative ideas at and who's hoarding them? Do we really need another remake after people were sick of remakes 5+ years ago already?

I really appreciate your reaction Sean. I looked so many thumbnails of UA-camr's reaction videos to this trailer, and I kept seeing garbage like "woke" in the titles. Nope. I had a similar feeling about this that you do. I don't think this is a good idea, but not because of "wokeness", but this corporate type of movie making is just about money and balance sheets. The dwarves look creepy as _uck and it looks like it was mostly shot in the Volume and in front of green screens. The person playing SW sounds pretty good in the song. But that's about it.

Also I don’t want people to take this the wrong way, but Rachel Zegler as Snow White was still a stupid choice. Not only is she not white (which is like Snow White’s main thing), she is also just not a nice person (from everything I have heard from friends of mine who have met her). Also, why not cast real dwarves?
Nope
The original is pretty basic narratively. Snow White meets the Prince early on in the movie. We don't see him again until the end of the movie. The Evil Queen orders her death, she ends up in the woods and meets the Dwarves. If Disney was going to do a live action version changes to the story would need to be made. As far as the look of the Dwarves they should have an exaggerated appearance.

Unfortunately this looks super lazy like all the other live action remakes. Some of the music seems ok, but the dwarves look awful and while some of the VFX are glossy, they feel very artificial like a lot of stuff Disney makes. Like please, shoot on location!
