Adam decided today would be the day to bring bagpipes and play in our high school halls. During this time he played the Star Wars theme.
This is surely a moment to remember in our school!

I played the pipes for my friend's wedding a few years back. The bride asked if I could play this (it turns out I could), so we surprised the groom (huge Star Wars nerd) by using it as the recessional march. He was very pleased!

@@jerrykinnin7941 Because being able to get the right answer isnt actually what they want to see, they want to see that you know the formulas for getting said answers, because you might have just calculated the answer while having no idea what the formulas actually mean, and that just hurts you later on since math just builds on math.
@@connorbranscombe6819 No, we want kids to show their work so that if they get it wrong, we can see where they made their mistake and help them. If we can't see their work, we can't pinpoint where they went wrong.

People at my high school did this all the time. Upland High School "Highlanders / Scots" of Upland, California. We had a full bagpipe regiment for our marching band. Many students wore kilts, including myself, on Fridays, school pride days and traditional Scottish holidays like St Andrews Day. We'd also have Ceilidh dances where kilts were mandatory dress.

@@joshyboy1983 Yes, my school taught Spanish, French, German, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Welsh, and Scots / Irish Gaelic. There might have been some other languages too. They taught basic Scots Gaelic (reading, alphabet, pronunciation and basic words) in all homeroom classes so that we could read and understand some of the signs and images around the campus.
I didn't know they had a school band in Upland... Back when I was piping (Sierra Highlanders, Reno NV), we used to get beat by Glendora Highschool all the time, but I don't remember seeing Upland High at any of the games... How old is the band?
I pulled a similar stunt in university dorms playing Highland Cathedral. Got shouted at and all bagpipes explicitly banned from the dorms, but no lasting trouble. I still own my pipes but haven't stuck with them! I hope your friend has, either way fun video that I'm sure was memorable for everyone.

Not really... Any tune that uses the same notes as the chanter can be played on the Highland Bagpipe: The Superman Theme, Walk Like an Egyptian, etc... It's fun, but doesn't win competitions, lol

I tried playing bagpipes, and I have so much respect for the amount of breath you need just to make a sound. I could barely play it with just one hole uncovered.
And then there's playing the chanter, where you can't use the inflated bag to give you a hand.
You should get private lessons for it. Not should, it's you have to. Without someone else to teach you bagpipes are impossible. You also need to start out on practice chanter otherwise your wasting time.
@@resourcedragon the inflated bag really doesn't give you a hand, it's just makes things more complicated. You need to blow lots of air at consistent pace with good tone.
If you were trying someone else's pipes, they might've been using a really hard chanter reed, which makes it more difficult. I had to use a very soft/easy reed and cork the drones when I first started on the big pipes... It took about a month of daily practice ("exercise") to get strong enough to make it through a set with no corks. Keep trying, it takes time.
Its magic! None of the teachers stopped him.
Fun fact: during ww1 there were bagpipes boys to Play some beates on fights

On D-Day the British 1st Special Service Brigade was piped on to the Sword beach at Normandy. There is a statue to honor Bill Millin. All he wore was traditional Scottish kilt, ceremonial knife in his kilt-hose & the bagpipes. The Germans did not shoot him because they thought he had lost his mind.
