Geez, then I guess all the users who “complain” about loss of Wi-Fi to BRICKING the camera are… lying!?! We should TRUST Sony they would NEVER release a firmware upgrade that would harm their camera so you would have to send it back to them to “fix” for $700 (quarter price of the camera) 🧐 Luckily it’s a Japanese company… so good luck trying to sue them in court for incompetence or actual fraud🤔
Since the release of the FX3 in March of 2021, they’ve had firmware updates for DCI 4K, true 24p, anamorphic de-squeeze, and shutter angle. They’ve slowly made this a real cinema camera rather than the rehoused A7s III it was initially criticized for being.

Just got this on my fx30 and it’s a game changer for swapping frame rates. I had the muscle memory down for bumping up shutter and ISO but nice that it’s basically all done for me now
@@chrisbrockhurst for sure! My cheat is binding ISO button to “HOLD: auto ISO” so when you get a lil shift in exposure when changing FPS, you can compensate for it pretty quick (I do lots of run and gun)
This video should come with a warning that says updating your FX3 may result in permanently destorying it. everyone who was lucky to successfully update it to the previous firmware had their cameras crippled by having options like NTSC grayed out (I think that's what it's called) as well as other settings i dont recall. Some also said that their fx3 started losing focus and started overheating when it never has before. Sony is charging UA-camr @camera nerds media $700 to fix his fx3 that bricked itself during an update. I would seriously take caution before updating the fx3 and ask yourself if potentially destroying your camera is worth the small performance bump. Some argue that they first 3 updates made no noticeable difference to its performance yet comes with so much risk.
Yep that’s why i haven’t updated mine! Too many conflicting issues, there isn’t a consistent enough reason to prove if their updates are truly worth it. But that fact that it might potentially kill your camera is worth the trouble.
@@VictorMBG17 come back and let us know how it goes. I just saw a video of a guy saying you can skip all other firmwares and go straight to the shutter angle update from 1.05. I wonder if that would help prevent the bugs that came with the previous updates.
Still no variable shutter? The FX30 has it. I had some unsolvable issues with dimmed LED flickering on a set in the past (PAL 1/50) - fx3 was the only camera on that set flickering and the only one that had no option to fix it.
Just updated my FX3 and realized that the Sutter Angle option is not available if you are recording to the Atomos Ninja V. Is anyone else experiencing that?

I guess you can't use this feature if your recording to an SSD on your Atomos monitor? It's grayed out when trying to change it with the recording to HDMI feature...

What’s the pros of using shutter angle over shutter speed? I get if it’s a 180 angle you won’t have to switch shutter speeds when changing frame rate but that’s not anything game changing since the fx3 has settings it can instantly change to if you want to switch frame rates.
@@ambition2959 I think it may be more about the language. Someone who is using this as a B cam that works as a DP or works with SA over SS may be more acquainted with saying “I want the SA look to be 210 degrees.” I think it gives people an option more than anything
@@williamhelena7592 Don't think it has variable degrees , only the degree equivalent of speeds . . I was used to shutter angles coming from film cameras , and using speed is actually easier to work with TBH . Apart from changing in and out of S&Q there is no real need for it , convenient as that is. Whats really needed is ECS .

Can anyone confirm it is using true 1/48th and 1/120th as the actually shutter speed. I just got an FX30 and also wondering a couple of things. We can only use 1/48th shutter in 4DCI? is that correct? Also I do not want to fiddle with CINE EI at the moment bc I have several jobs coming up but have set my PP11 to be Slog3 and Slog3cine correct? I have seen some comments that Slog3 can only be used in CINE EI? A little confused. I would rather manually set all my ISO and Slog settings for my jobs coming up rather than fiddling with CINE EI... Thanks if anybody has any remarks for my doubts..
No that's not true. You can set your ISO to FlexibleISO instead of CineEI and still shot in SLog3. However, if you haven't already heard, shutter angle cannot be used to shoot Log footage above 1080p, effectively rendering it useless in that regard. If you want to use it and capture 4K, you can't shoot in Log. It seems incredibly stupid imo, but there you have it.
@remnantHTX I just spoke to Sony support. You have to go through USB or the memory card route. I'm also coming from version 3 and successfully updated via memory card
This firmware release is a sh!t show. Sony did not say it was a beta so it should released without problems and work properly instead of all the issues we are having. Right now on mt FX30 I can't get AF on my 7Artisans adapter with my Sigma 18-35 f1.8 lens which is more important to me that anything else in the update. Sony gave no warning that the update would affect 3rd party lenses so badly and there seems to be no way to roll back the update. I'm a bit annoyed.
I do not understand why this update is not available, for A7iv too. It's just a software, and it doesn't require a specific hardware. Sony are really annoying with their features development and distribution.
Great question and I can actually answer this as I have chatted with the Engineers many times. I'm not saying you're wrong but you have to look at the counter argument. It's not as simple as a software update. It's to do with processing power and cramming in as much as they possibly can. Coding and software has to be re-written in a way that means the camera can handle it and doesn't overheat etc. It requires manpower, time and money. It's not to say it won't come but putting a video centric feature in a video centric camera first makes logical sense, don't you think?

It should be very easy for them to just make it for other models.

The thing I’m dying to know is does setting angle to 180 improve S&Q mode? Up till now I’ve noticed 25p S&Q feels blurry compared to 50p 1/100 shutter

My zve10 screen shows green color to yellow. When i transfer photos to phone, it shows original green color. How to deal with this display issue
