This is the first interview, in a long time, that he seems to not be “under the influence”. So good to see him like that. I hope he can stick with it! Soooo much talent. We need more Richie!!!
Agree 💯
He's right the movie was about Jon and his voice. I want to see a Richie documentary. I want to know his version of the group and the effect it had on humanity
On humanity???? They were a basic hair metal pop
band with hit songs largely written by Desmond Child. Thats why musicians laughed at them as much as they laugh at KISS.
@@flyingburritobro68 ROFL...."Oh the humanity!"
He seems sober i this interview, happy for him, keep up the good spirit Ritchie.
Well at least Richie speaks the truth. We all know what Richie did …got it … everyone has seemed to moved on ! Enjoy the success and what you have achieved and either talk or don’t .. stay in touch or don’t . No one can take away what you and your brothers did together!!! Rock on Richie!!
The doc should have been called
'I'm the best ever and everyone works for me'
So true. JBJ came off as a prick.
And «woe is me, I can’t sing anymore.. why did God attack my voice??»
Celebrating 40 yrs is a mile stone to say the least, I would have done it differently as well, I'm still trying to decide if Jon has OCD or his just an ego maniac. Richie is a great musician and song writer, praise to you.
Richie your ROYALTY!!!!
I like the documentary but Richie is right, it's a Jon's point of view and one and a half chapters is about the last line up and albums , and the best era is too short. There's something about Jon and his healthy vocal life in Bon Jovi... he drunk a lot and he smoked cigarettes, there's some footage showing this, and he took corticoids for a long time ...and it seems like he was the Saint take care of his drunk friends
😂Jon being roasted here is legendary
Love the Sambora music!! Go Ritchie!!
Yup. He’s correct. I liked the documentary but the underlying theme throughout is John’s voice on the road to recovery, woe is me, him dealing with aging, the good ole days are gone etc. a 2 hr movie or maybe 2 episodes of how Richie describes it would have been more meaningful for the fans. Thankfully Jon’s politics were saved to the latter part of last episode
So get off your ass and do something, if Jon doesn't call him he won't appear in the documentary, so THANK YOU!!!!
Richie is being honest here. I love Jon Bon Jovi but he's such a businessman. Richie is more of an artist at heart. That's why the both of them worked together for so long. They provided for each other what the other did not have. I love the honest answer here from Richie. What a great guitar player and a great singing voice as well.
Agree, documentary focused too much on Jon’s voice issues
There’s no Bon Jovi without Richie Sambora in my opinion
Richie Sambora Don't go back to BON JOVI!
You are the best!
Go your own way!
Like he's been away for 11 years and he's not coming back, no one needs a drunk and an egomaniac. Since he left he hasn't done anything useful. He only gets focus if he talks about Jon, which is the case. Here also blaming Jon for how he handled the documentary when he could have worked his ass off to pull the strings!!!!! It is embarrassing to see him in the lost drunk documentary in which he does not recognize his current state of drug addiction, he no longer knows how to speak.
@@Dadabaster1985 Since he left, Bon Jovi hasn't done anything useful, either. Haven't written a single hit.
@@shlepmessing8703 They have made two albums, whether they like it or not, on the other hand, this drunk has only drunk up to the ducks' troughs, as can be seen in the documentary. As if to pay attention to the stupid things you say.
I commented on another channel that it was Jon patting himself on the back as usual and how poor Jon blew out his voice for his beloved fans and what an ahole he is to his assistants Richie is a righteous person he knows the truth about Jon yes Richie has had his issues but he’s not an egomaniac like Jon
John Bongiovi was destined to make it with or without Ritchie. Tony Bongiovi who is John’s Uncle was a big record company executive. That is the way it works.
Make no mistake. The band IS Jon's. Richie has his due time in the documentary in which he was absolutely free to say whatever he wanted. And he did. I dont get what this whole new cry for attention is again. I love Richie to death and I have been a fan since I was 7. Truth be told the band is not the same without him and he was the great voice in the duo. I would love to see him back. That being said... statements like this won't help to that direction. Its why he left the band and why he will problably never come back.
Sorry disagree. It might have started off as Jon's band but until Richie left after 30 years, the only change to the line up was Alec John Such going. You can't deny that all of their top songs were written by Jon and Richie not to mention them being sung by the both of them. Richie was free to say what he wanted but I have a feeling that a lot of what Richie actually said wasn't put into the doco, because realistically he didn't get much airtime considering his time in the band. I was a big Bon Jovi fan back in the day and it's not the same without Richie and I agree that the doco should've been more about the songs and the effect that they had, than Jon's singing troubles. Richie mentions in a lot of interviews that he co wrote the songs which I don't blame him because Jon comes off a lot of the time as the songwriter and Richie's input is ignored alot of the time. Richie is just reminding the interviewers that he wrote just as much for Bon Jovi as Jon did. Hope he does come back for a 40th tour, I'd go see that for sure.
Age is a bitch. If JBJ's vocal surgery actually works, they are under the watchful eyes of Shanks...hence, sanitized and not-raw sound, fewer guitar solos, and horrible set lists. It would be cool if Richie ever returned, but he won't as long as Shanks holds part of the reigns. It would not be the same, but Phil X is a beast that is not allowed to really rip and sing. He's a great dude with a great payday, and he will be a good employee. They could be A LOT more than they are without Shanks. I'm okay keeping Mr. Bradley on percussion and vocals. Just get rid of Shanks and bring back the rock. No more lite-rock live.
Richie always had a better voice. That was no secret. Jon was pretty. That was his whole game. I saw him in 88. He couldn't sing live then either.
@lidakaloglou3202 100% agree
It's a shame that Richie wasn't involved in the making of the doco. But, it is what it is!! Sad how things have turned out, these guys were great together. Richie will never return to Bon Jovi, if he was going to it would have happened already. Plus his comment, he seemed a little sarcastic to me. Good luck in the future to all of them. We all get old and nothing stays the same.
If you close your eyes, he sounds like Stevie Van Zant.
My pick is number #5
Is it me, or is everyone getting older?😂

I. D. ♡ L. ❤️
I’ve spent enough time around people with addiction issues to see that this dude is quite obviously unwell. 😢
It's pretty obvious even for those of us who don't have as much experience. He also will resent JBJ until the end of time.
Ever since he left the band every appearance has been like this, slurred words, acting strange..it’s sad to see it. Last time he was truly sober and in good health was 2012 after promoting his solo album. It’s night and day
@@Mike060504 Yes - everyone is like, "oh he looks so good". WRONG....he looks like an idiot. The slurring, the strange behanvior, over the top antics...Anyone that's seen Richie sober -- and I had the pleasure of getting to hang with him one night, KNOWS this is not the way he normally acts -- or any sober person acts. Everyone is fooling themselves.
AND, this is exactly why Jon would never be stupid enough to invite Richie back to the band unless he knows Richie is sober. Jon could have called Richie back to help with his singing parts over the past few years, but knows better.
It’s hard to understand what he’s saying and his appearance has changed so much.
@@Autobahn4537 Can't do much about the appearance thing, it's called getting old.
Jeez, he looks like an old lady😳
Is he wearing lipstick 💄 😳 and he needs some kind of flyaway, stop frizz hair cream. Hair dye and his thinning hair don't go well together.
I'm not gonna see it. Richie is a class act. He sees what in a way it should of been presented.
The dude is starting to look a lot like Barbara Walters. 🤔
Is Ritchie still with Orianthi?
No
Richie does look better...but still not right unfortunately. Of course the documentary is primarily about Jon -- it's his band...his record contracts...like it or not. And Richie walked away from both the band and all of the fans. So not sure why everyone is surprised that Jon didn't give him a bigger role in the series. He burned some bridges.
Yes Richie had issues, and I can understand if he had to leave the band...but he could have told the band earlier than a few hours before showtime. He just got up and quit and never, never looked back.
Yet - he had no issue touring with Orianthi soon thereafter. SMH.
Bottom line though: Two of the greatest song writers of our generation. Richie is one of the best rock and roll guitar players out there...and Jon one of the best front men out there as well. In his heyday, nobody had a better rock voice than Jon. Richie also had a great voice, but he's also lost a lot (not as much as Jon obviously). All of them are great musicians and all would have been great in other bands...but the magic of Bon Jovi is each one meshed together perfectly: Tico on drums, David on keyboards/piano, Hugh on bass (apparently he did the studio work)...and Richie and Jon. Best harmonizing rock duo of our generation -- maybe of all time.
Hope Richie can find his way back to his good health. Band isn't the same without him...but he has to man-up and take responsibility. His apology on the Hulu series was half-baked...didn't seem sincere. And he needs to stop bashing Jon. Again, he was the one that left the band and the fans. So, man-up, give a sincere apology and be professional and not bash anyone.
Hang in there Richie...hoping for you.
Richie has lip stick on. Lol
Should've been called egomaniac because it was just a Jon sob story mixed with promoting their new album
how do you talk like this and still desire to write and perform with the band? i don't get him, he has not been part for 11yrs now
Sambora looks like an English dude from the late 70s!! Lol 😂
Why would anyone want a crappy Ritchie Sambora guitar ?😮
🙄
Weirdo
Seriously? Richie Sambora supports animal cruelty?
Love Rich but he's getting a little bit odd.
